The Pioneer Fleet Report - July 2018

USS Athena

Commanding Officer: Lindsay Bayes

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: Another strong month for the Athena! The sim has progressed and everyone is very much involved as we escape the ship which has been sent on a collision course with another ship that is a serious threat.

Meanwhile, we managed to make it over to the new site fairly quickly and while a couple characters haven’t posted yet, we’re only missing one on the roster. Additionally, during the switch, we gained a returning member in the form of Mary O’Donnell who is fitting in quite nicely.

I’ll have more to say next month after everyone is settled into the new system and we know what is what.

Spotlight: Fist of all, everyone deserves a big thank you for making the switch quite seamless. That and you all are rockstar players.

But there are a few stand outs:

Ian: His sim is amazing and meanwhile he’s juggling regular characters and their development. He also snagging the Best Mission award at the STF awards. So very proud!

Jeremy: Because I was swamped with everything else, he made sure the threads were all dealt with and our roster populated as people ventured in. Thanks! Also, his new character is proving quite intriguing and that’s not even if you consider his relation to a pervious crew member!

Mary: What a start! I love the enthusiasm and intriguing character story. I can’t wait to see how Cara settles in.

Sim Overview: Athena’s Sacrifice https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/804/
The Final Showdown? https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/966/

The unthinkable has happened. Pierce Hamilton the Counter Strike agent from the future sabotaged the Athena and escaped in a pod taking Stark Nightstalker with him as a captive. The Counterstrike ship was on the verge of destroying the Athena with all hands when at the behest of Michail, Temporal Investigations Officer, the Captain ordered an intercept course with the other vessel at ramming speed.

Athena sacrificed herself to ensure that the crew made it to the planet below in safety. Their only hope now is the Guardian of Forever. Can they reset the clock?

High above amidst the wreckage of the Athena, a rock floats through space…

FComm’s Comments: The Athena has done well this month. Their sim is moving along steadily and keeping the crew engaged. It is nice to see former members returning with the push that was sent out when we switched over to Exodus. I expect the current month of reports to be missing a few because we aren’t settled yet.

USS Atlantis

Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: The Atlantis is back and running. After several LOA’s, the move to Exodus, and figuring out the new posting system, the ship is moving along nicely on side sims as well as the main sim. In the Main Sim we are currently on the planet and learning what is happening to the Federation ship we came to rescue. Stay tuned for the answers.

Spotlight: To the entire crew! With the change to Exodus, I am so happy with how quickly everyone got back into the swing of things. Everyone seems to be back to posting and getting their character bio’s up and running. We also had a new crew member join with I know will be an asset to our ship. Thanks for all your hard work.

Executive Officer: Lindsay Bayes

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: We’re still struggling to find our pace and there were a couple serious staffing issues. Currently, they are being dealt with, but we’re still waiting for our main sim to get going again. I think the switch will help re-set us a bit and we can see where we really are at. Other than that, there is still side simming going on and James Harrison has stepped into the CSO role.

Spotlight: Jeremy and James Sinclair have been very consistent as the Marine Commander and COS respectively. I enjoy their threads immensely.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: As I’ve said before, the move to Exodus came with some issues. Everyone is trying their best to deal with the move and learn the new system, but June needs to be looked at with a benevolent eye. Things are moving on the Atlantis and slowly picking up momentum while the crew finds their mojo again. I expect in July to be able to report that everything is much better.

USS Dresden

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Joana Ribeiro

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The Dresden picked up some speed in the first half of June, making some progress in both the main sim and side sims. However, the change to Exodus hit the ship quite strongly bringing it almost to a standstill. It took a few days to reroster everyone and I think we may have lost our Chief Science Officer in the middle of it all (not that this is the new site’s fault, but rather something that seemed already impending, but the change made it evident). There’s some posts on the board, but posting has been sporadic at best as we are still picking up missing threads. A few things I was not expecting have also hit me IRL and I have now more time to be more involved again.

All in all, I think the Dresden is finally in a position to start moving again. People are still getting acquainted to the new site (me included) and I have been seeing more movement on the board in the past few days, so I am really hoping that July brings a more normal posting rate.

Spotlight: I think the whole crew deserves the spotlight this month, especially now that we have a new and shiny website.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: Answering a distress call, the Dresden found a ship with a predominantly female crew. There were only two men on board who were very sick. The two men were brought to sickbay and their illness was very mysterious. The CMO detected a strange energy reading on the two men. After the CE was touched by one of the women left on the ship, he displayed the same energy signature but was not feeling sick. At the same time the counsellor was struck with what could be described as a psychic attack. Investigations revealed that there were three women who were responsible for the situation. They were isolated in the brig taking care that no one was touched by them. The women are being interrogated.

FComm’s Comments: I think the numbers we use to grade our posting on the ships each month is too subjective. The XO gives the ship 6, 6, 6 and the GM gives it 8, 8, 9. That is a big difference. This month I tend to agree with Joana. Posting really fell off in the last half of the month. Some of that can be chalked up to the switch over and part was losing track of threads that didn’t get transferred over. I hope everything settles down and people get back into their groove. July numbers will tell.

USS Ogawa

Commanding Officer: Cale Reilly

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: The ship is getting built back up from the switch and my recent work eLOA. Huge thanks to Linds and D for all their work preparing and switching the crew over and to the crew itself for jumping back on board. We have had a few new faces join in and the interim sim is drawing to a climax.

Hopefully we will solve the draining mystery before we reach our destination and the next sim begins!

Spotlight: Everyone but especially Linds and D

Executive Officer: D Grisham

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We are still on our way to Carraya IV. It is a long, long journey :) During the travel time, each department is making sure to acquaint themselves with the plans for the new hospital that we are to build there. Because of the switch to Exodus, posting numbers/activity is lower than usual, but now that Cale is back and will be posting as Captain Taylor, I’m sure things will begin moving along at a good pace. There is no need to worry about the Ogawa. Her crew are always involved in something on the ship.

Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: The sim didn’t progress tons, but one of the engineers has investigated the power relay issue in the Jefferies tubes. He’s just found an odd substance that seems to be organic and has called for a science consult. Meanwhile, the psi positive members of the crew are all being drawn to a certain area of the ship with feelings of despair in the air.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Unfortunately, Cale was called away by work for a large portion of the month. The ship always moves along better when she is there. Coupled with that, there was the knowledge we were going to have the changeover to Exodus and the preparation that took. Although posting continued, it slowed down a lot. I believe the crew didn’t understand one of the plot lines, so they faltered. However, July should rock now that everyone and everything is back in place.

Outpost 42

Commanding Officer: Adam W.

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Posting wise not as busy as a typical month, but considering the transition I’m pretty impressed by the activity level. We still need one more crew member to figure out getting back on the roster, but aside from that we’ve moved everybody over on the Outpost. Louis Harvatt has returned to STF and to the yeoman role he had on the Outpost. Jeremy is now playing a different SOO. All key positions are accounted for and pretty much full.

We still need a present gamemaster, but during the Exodus transition was not a good time to resolve that. I’ve been rather absent myself for personal reasons as well as because of my own role in helping the club move to the new site.

Spotlight: Kate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Kate, for volunteering to handle moving the threads from the old site to the new site. I had more of a burden to deal with than I had time for, and Kate tackling that was a huge help. She also did a great deal to help get our roster set up. I was able to focus on the club’s needs and trust Kate with most of the Outpost 42 needs. I really needed my XO to take some things off my plate and she did so, which was amazing.

Executive Officer: Kate O’Neill

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The Outpost is moving along nicely on side sims as well as the main sim. In the Main Sim we are currently trying to rescue the colonist and have sent for back up. Lucky Quick Draw McGraw Vaughn is in command of the Lancer. Don’t worry Mathias…”We Got This!”

Spotlight: To the entire crew! With the change to Exodus, I am so happy with how quickly everyone got back into the swing of things. Everyone seems to be back to posting and getting their character bio’s up and running. Thanks for all your help with such a smooth transition.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The Outpost is doing alright. They need to fix their GM problem, but other than that—things are under control.
