Starfleet Academy Report - April 2020

Overall things are going well in the Academy. We’re about to graduate another few cadets, just waiting on the last few evaluations to come in. The Challenger is bustling at the moment which is fun to see.

On the course side, I’d like to personally thank Cale Reilly for stepping into volunteer to review the course textbook. She has done a fantastic job on the Counseling course and I look forward to her insight going forward on the rest of them.

USS Challenger

Commanding Officer: Sarah Hemenway

Crew Posting Level: 10
Senior Staff Posting Level: 10
Overall Ship Health: 10

Ship Status: I don’t typically look at post count as an indicator, but for my own amusement, I just checked and the Challenger crew produced an astounding 523 posts for the month of April. I don’t usually award 10s across the board, but I can’t really think of a more resounding example of an extremely healthy ship than this month for the Challenger.

Spotlight: All of our new cadets have become amazing contributors, but I wanted to take this month’s spotlight to express my deepest appreciation to the Challenger’s department heads. The insanity of the last month was not what they signed on for and they have all handled it with a supportive, friendly attitude that has helped retain a large group of new members for the club, particularly despite the stressful situations everyone is in right now. Thank you, Silke, Ben, Dan, and Janice. You are truly the best.

Sim Overview: The cadests have made it to the surface and have begun to investigate the mines and the safety bunker. Having broken up into three parties as follows:

1) Is investigating the safety bunker and interviewing the surviors to see what they can learn about the collapsing mine tunnels and this supposed attack.
2) Is attempting to restore power to the facilities and bring the station back online so that they can get stable communications with the Challenger.
3) Is exploring the mines and attempting to rescue the missing.

Next month I suspect we will see the fruits of their labor.

Spotlight: Oh man. All these new cadets are amazing, and the crew is awesome for helping them learn the club.

FComm’s Comments: Whew, a bustling ship this month! My one regret is that I don’t have time to read every single note like I normally do, however, I’m confident Sarah and her crew are keeping track and will address issues. I do still pop in and read what I can when I can, but good work Challenger crew!!

Absolutely no issues, minor or otherwise to report from my end. Keep it up, guys! :)
