The Meridian Fleet Report - April 2020

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The sim is not the fastest I have played in but it is consistent. Posting is sufficient to move it along. We do have some critical openings that need addressing such as that of COS. With me playing the CMO right now that helps keep an important part of this sim moving. Everyone is doing great and the roster is good after I made some notices in email. Sam’s LOA is the only thing holding us back a little but we have adjusted well to that.

Spotlight: Terry Sullivan and Melissa Aragon for keeping the Flight Wing active during this time.

Vacancies: Short term- COS
Long Term-CMO

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Excused

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Olinksi has been tasked to find a lost Starfleet transport ship: the USS Sierra. The ship had landed on the planet to make repairs and got caught in a sandstorm. The Olinski crew are trying to understand why repairs were not made in orbit but on the planet. The CO, Whitney, had been in the Engineers Corps and is about to retire. He had given his reasons but the Olinski crew still are not too convinced. A Mrs. Pitch had requested the transfer of her and her infant to the Olinski. After the two were transported, the Sierra started their engines, ready to move back to space.

Suddenly, a group of crewmen at different parts of the ship collapsed. Their eyes were open but they were not responsive to any attempted communication. The Olinski contacted the Sierra to see if there was a similar malaise on their ship. The Sierra had not encountered such a situation. However, they Starbase have asked them to stop a distance just to wait until visited by a quarantine team.

FComm’s Comments: Another solid showing by the Olinski, they matched the Saracen in posts and their awols and LOA’s came right mostly, which were not a big worry in large part i’m sure for most. A CoS position open on this solid ship would be a great spot for anyone wanting to step up in an active environment.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: We had an absolutely fabulous month! We had a couple new players show up and one more on the way! The captain might have found love again. The XO might find love?????????? We are finishing up with the gypsies and are going to head over to a town that begins with a “B” (Ha Ha Ha) I don’t have my notes with me. But a possible Vampire Lord runs that city!

Spotlight: Everyone and especially to our new crew whom have not only joined the main SIM feet first but also have created side SIMs and great, fleshed out characters! A very nice compliment to the best ship and crew that is in this place!

Vacancies: Need JO’s in all departments.

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Excused

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: Solid steady posting this past month fort he Chernov crew their night of info gathering and sleep with the Vistani has ended who now head south, while the away team heads north to the misty village of Barovia village where they intend to contact its Lord, Count Strahd Von Zarovich the 11th for info on the warp signature.

Spotlight: Spotlight to everyone for running a D&D Ravenloft meets star trek sim and pulling it off nicely so far! Love it!

FComm’s Comments: The Chernov had an outstanding April, and their result of 213 posts is a credit to how well the crew has responded in the last few months. Fantastic performance and some great posts and threads coming out. The roster is solid and it’s quite clear they are really enjoying the ship. Well done to all! With Robs impending departure he is leaving the new GM a gem of a ship to work with.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Steven Sigle

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: “Hello this is Anastasia Everlast reporting on Everlasting stories for our lifetime. I am standing on the bridge of the USS Odin with Commodore Rivar Calin. Don’t ask how I got here. I have my contacts,” she said in a semi-mysterious tone that was low and almost a whisper. Long ago she learned you had to real them in for the news. It had to have a hint of danger, love, loss, and war. That was what sold and what people wanted to read. Strolling around the ship she began her April expose on the crew of the Odin. Narrowing her eyes slightly to give the report a hint of intrigue she started.

“The crew of the Odin was investigating a group of rogue individuals that involved Romulans, Ferengi, and other nefarious sorts. This led Calin and Black to authorize an away team once they located the planet where the individuals fled to using warp. An away team was sent to the planet in question for more details. Luckily for Lt. Salemberger and Lt O’Neill they are getting some fresh air and shopping done on the clock as the blend into what could be a smuggler’s black market. That was until the science chief noticed some bits and pieces on a table that resembled broken tricorders. Where did rogue agents get Starfleet property? We are going to find out. The command staff is eagerly awaiting the results of Kate and Kai’s findings especially the new engineering chief Lieutenant Ka’Lissi Rosh. It has been rumored the COS is sending pictures for confirmation of the bits with the message is this a data chip or a broken piece of plastic?

Making a stopping motion to her cameraman, Anasastia held back some pretending to prepare for her next piece but to the untrained or trained eye, it was just pure eavesdropping. Ships always had interesting things happening if you knew where to look and who to listen to. Overhearing the Intelligence Attache, Samuel Weir, mention hot tubs as he left the bridge made Anastasia wonder if this was a code word for a top-secret mission. This would definitely be followed up on. To the right a pretty blonde lieutenant was chattering about how excited she was for her fiance, the XO, to finally have enough closet space in room 717. She hinted that she would be turning her quarters into a man cave as an engagement gift to the XO. This held promise too as a story. With living space at a premium, why was Paris Carisi talking about roaming the ship for hours until they finally found the room and why was the officers getting two quarters?

Letting her attention she drift more she overheard a conversation about a crew member falling ill requiring possible emergency surgery in medical. Heroic doctors were always a feel-good piece. Signaling the cameraman to focus again on her, Anastasia put on an expression of concern as the show began again after the advertisement. “I was just informed that there is a medical emergency,” she said walking to the turbo. “It seems that Lieutenant Siegfried Abel, is now treating Ensign James Wolf and in sickbay for possible emergency surgery. Stay tuned while we get more information. This is Anastasia Everlast bringing you everlasting stories for our lifetime,” she timed it perfectly so that the turbo doors snapped shut as she finished her sentence.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: All JO spots.

Executive Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Odin had a solid month, with a little over 70 posts and a fair amount of main sim posting. Some of the crew has beamed down to investigate the planet where several species have claimed a new home, free of Federation rules.

In April we welcome Melissa Aragon back to the CE seat

Spotlight:

Vacancies: JO’s in all Departments

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: After rescuing a freighter, the Odin pursued what seemed like an unregistered Romulan ship. The Odin reaches a strange cluster of ships in a system that is outside Federation space. In fact that space is not claimed by any major power. On contacting the ‘colony’ the Odin discovers that they are like an independent group of people from various systems. They do not answer to any power. When the CNS tries to read the people who answer their hails, she discovers that she cannot read them, in a similar situation like the Ferengi. A meeting is set up where two representatives from the ‘colony’ would board the Odin to negotiate. One is a Ferengi male and the other is a female which looks human but is unreadable like a Ferengi. The CO meets with them and negotiates entry into the system to look for the perpetrators.

The Odin is granted entry and two teams were assigned to land on the planet to investigate.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Odin had a good month, highlighted by the CO’s enthusiasm in writing that piece for the Fleet Report of course. Another solid month from the crew with some busy posting by a bunch of them.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Stuck somewhere between the Prime and Mirror universes in the realm of, nothing, the Saracen struggles to find out exactly what has happened to the ship. Without anything to anchor onto, that has proven difficult.

In other threads Mel and James have been hard at work reuniting their characters with Mels return to the Saracen, and the ships young CSO played by Luke Hung received his new pips and moved up the pay grade to Lt Cmdr.

With just over 100 post in April I’m pretty happy with the Saracen, it wasn’t an overly busy month but most people on board were able to keep active for the most part.

Spotlight: Mel and James, they have been pretty active during the April!

Vacancies: JO’s in Medical, Engineering, Science.

Executive Officer: Christopher Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Saracen sim is progressing slowly. The ship seems to be stuck between normal and mirror universes. The crew is investigating a mysterious Terran Empire signal that is displaying on the computer screens. The crew is trying to figure out if it is coming from the ship, or someplace external.

There are also several very interesting side sims going on. Not a bad month overall and I am looking forward to see what the GM has in store for us in May.

Gamemaster: No report submitted - Excused

FComm’s Comments: Solid month for the Saracen, they had a few LOA’s and AWOLS but nothing concerning. Main sim has some solid posting although they do need to get some other departments involved more. Good foundation for the coming month.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Dave Eads

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Sentinel’s first month has run pretty smoothly! The crew jumped right in with both feet and we’re off and rolling at a good pace. We’ve had a slight lull the last week probably because the new ship smell is wearing off a bit but I expect we’ll be able to maintain pace and get into the meat of what looks to be a very interesting first Sim!

Getting the ship crewed and set up was wonderfully easy due to the help of a lot of great people. I want to say thank you for that for sure. Dave and Silke gave us a very good foundation to build on, Rob jumped right into a solid Sim for us, Joe and the senior staff built some amazing characters, and I’m very grateful for everyone!

Lastly, but certainly not least, thanks to Steve and Sarah for giving us a chance to get this ship going!

Spotlight: The whole crew deserves applause for starting strong and keeping up with pace. Salutes

Vacancies: We’re light on vacancy, but we could stand another couple Jo’s if anyone is interested.

Executive Officer: Joe P

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The ship is running very well so far, even though we haven’t been around for a full month. I’m not sure if we will maintain this level of activity once the new car smell wears off, but even if we dropped a little bit we would still be in good shape. The sim is also just starting.

Joining the ship this month are myself, Cale Reilly, Sharon Miller, Iain Foggarty, James Sinclair, Melissa Aragon, Katy Darrah, Russell Watt, AJ Paulson, Chris E, and most certainly not least or actually last, Terry Sullivan. Rob Archer also started the current sim.

Spotlight: Terry Sullivan kicked off a side sim thread on the Bridge that had most of the crew engaged in introducing themselves to one another.

Cale, Sharon, Iain, James and Russ wrote some pretty detailed introductory threads for their characters.

Vacancies: I’m pretty sure we’d take JOs in any capacity, or Swing positions that fit the 23rd century (though I’m also pretty sure we might be swinged out at the moment).

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: For our first month off the ground the Sentinel is doing amazingly well! They’ve gotten their sim orders for a cargo milk run to Deba III home to a mining colony which also exports fine milk and wine to known space.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Fleets newest addition had a pretty darn good month with some stellar crew signing up to the roster. She started posting on April 13 and in the rest of the month matched the Saracen and Olinski in post count. That’s a pretty good start by any account. Must have been the ‘fine milk’ Rob has been peddling from that mining colony.

I think everyone on the ship, especially the Command Team can be pretty happy with their ships performance in April, and I certainly am looking forward to seeing how it holds up in May.
