The Meridian Fleet Report - May 2020

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: No report submitted - Not Excused

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Not Excused

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Olinksi has been tasked to find a lost Starfleet transport ship: the USS Sierra. The Olinski succeeded in contacting the Sierra and helped the ship to be space worthy again. During this time, a Mrs. Pitch had requested the transfer of her and her infant to the Olinski. After parting with the Sierra, a group of crewmen at different parts of the ship suddenly collapsed. Their eyes were open but they were not responsive to any attempted communication. The Olinski contacted the Sierra to see if there was a similar malaise on their ship. The Sierra had not encountered such a situation. However, they Starbase have asked them to stop a distance just to wait until visited by a quarantine team.

In the meantime, the collapsed crew were found to be conscious but unable to control their movements. They were transferred to sickbay. One of them Redding has left sickbay and proceeded to Engineering. The other crewmen are also beginning to move without control of their bodies, except their eyelids.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: May was a quieter month for the Olinski, they didn’t quite hit their usual high with 87 posts mainly in the main sim, which is going strong and looks to have good participation. A couple of long AWOLS/LOA’s on the roster need to be tidied up but that’s no biggie and an easy fix. No reports from either the CO or XO this month, usually the Olinski is first in with them. Their are a couple of DH positions that are available here, and the Olinski is a great place to write of someone is looking to step into a DH role.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: We are in very good spirits here on the Chernov. We are still without a GM but I am just continuing the story line and making crap up as I go along like Indiana Jones until we get a new one. The Captain has been slain in battle and taken hostage by a vampire type creature. The crew battled their way towards the castle by killing Werewolves, zombies and vampires. They just arrived outside the castle and are about to try to get in.

Spotlight: Spotlights: I cannot pick a single person. It really does belong with the whole crew. They have been exceptional with their side SIMs and character developments. The Captain lost his love and the CMO gained some love. I hope that calms him down a bit. But we are good. A new XO joined us.

Vacancies: Need JO’s in all departments

Executive Officer: Timothy Frogue

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Currently on a mission and some new characters are reporting in.

Spotlight: None at this time.

Vacancies: We can always use JO’s and I think the Captain would like a few swing positions.

Gamemaster: No report submitted - Vacant

FComm’s Comments: The Chernov performed absolutely amazingly in May, taking out the “mostest postest” award for the second month in a row with 381 on the board. The crew has been continuing on their own stories and Travis has been leading the crew in a continuation of their previous Sim while a new GM is sourced after Rob stepped away, and the crew is posting amazingly even without a huge roster or a GM.

Timothy Frogue was welcomed to the XO seat this month and has his work cut out for him keeping up by the looks of things!

Well done the Chernov!

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Steven Sigle

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: New crew has brought some fire into the mission as we explore just what this colony of vagabond space pirates are up to.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: JOs of all kinds

Executive Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Solid month from us on the Odin, with a number of side sims and the main sim progressing we have now started investigating the colony we found in this system. Mel returned to us in the CE role and provided an immediate spark with her threads, and once again Jay has been busy with his CSO character.

Spotlight: This month it goes jointly to Mel and Jay, keeping busy and fun!

Vacancies: The Odin has positions for JO’s in all departments, and could possibly fit a swing or two if someone has an idea they want to throw our way.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: After rescuing a freighter, the Odin pursued what seemed like an unregistered Romulan ship. The Odin reaches a strange cluster of ships in a system that is outside Federation space. In fact that space is not claimed by any major power. On contacting the ‘colony’ the Odin discovers that they are like an independent group of people from various systems. They do not answer to any power. When the CNS tries to read the people who answer their hails, she discovers that she cannot read them, in a similar situation like the Ferengi. A meeting is set up where two representatives from the ‘colony’ would board the Odin to negotiate. One is a Ferengi male and the other is a female which looks human but is unreadable like a Ferengi. The CO meets with them and negotiates entry into the system to look for the perpetrators.

Two away teams have been sent down to the colony, which is actually a small planetoid. One team enters the market while the other explores the farmland that are outside the market.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Another solid month on the Odin, 80 posts isn’t bad for a slow ship and they had some good threads from their returning Chief Engineer, the CMO and CSO. The quality of writing is fantastic from everyone and while the main sim is not advancing rapidly, it is steady. Mel and James have huge spark in their threads which is great to see.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 10
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Saracen had a fantastic month post wise in May, although unfortunately we lost our GM to LOA and finally RL issues for a bunch of it and I needed an LOA as well for a little bit. The Saracen always seems to pick up in those circumstances though and a bunch of great threads are happening.

Main Sim wise the Saracen is stuck in ‘nothing space’ between the Prime and Mirror Universes, the crew trying to work out how to get back to where they are supposed to be.

We had J Ridgley join us as a new Security JO in May and wow, what a burst of energy he has been!

Spotlight: Congrats to J Ridgley for this months Spotlight, he fully deserves it!

Vacancies: GM, CNS and JO’s in all departments are available.

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Excused

Gamemaster: No report submitted - Vacant

FComm’s Comments: Great month for the Saracen post wise, with 176 on the board. The new addition of J Ridgley and James and Mel’s threads certainly boosted activity and with the loss of the GM, the ship kept a good level of posting. XO has been excused due to LOA and the GM stood down with RL happenings, so the Saracen is in the market for a new GM.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Dave Eads

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We had some LOA’s and my own schedule has been a bit weird still, however we are plugging along. Much of the issue likely surrounds my own posting ability, and I take full responsibility for that. The crew remains engaged and excited, with everyone wanting to be part of the Landing Party. I am still very proud of the quality of writing the crew has put forward, and still extremely happy to be part of this ship!

Spotlight: I’d like to spotlight James, Melissa, Joe, and Iain. All of whom have put forward extremely well-designed characters, and have strived to make quality posts. I’ve enjoyed reading their posts immensely. That’s not to say that I don’t feel the same about the rest of the crew, because that can be said for all! But recent posts struck me as spotlight worthy.

Vacancies: We have room for JO’s, but we haven’t lost any Red Shirts yet…

Executive Officer: Joe P

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: We’ve mostly been moving along. The sim is progressing, though we had a bit of a hiccup when a couple of us very senior people were a day late or two. But things are moving and we don’t have any issues that I think will block anything. Some people were LOA most of the month, but it hasn’t impacted the overall flow of things.

Kevin Sawyer joined the ship as a security JO. Nobody has left the ship.

Spotlight: I have to say that I really enjoy seeing everyone’s enthusiasm to find ways to participate in the main sim. It’s sometimes hard to plan landing parties (we don’t say “Away Teams” on the Sentinel because we’re run by the TOS Purity Police) when you don’t know who is actually going to participate; this month we had the opposite problem where people were tripping over themselves in-character to give us ways to let them participate. In particular, I’d like to spotlight Melissa Aragon and James Sinclair for this, because they both proposed very specific ways that their very narrowly specified swing characters could get involved (with organizing communications and flying a shuttle, respectively).

I also want to spotlight Sharon Miller, who has introduced the concept of possible Vulcan/Andorian animosity in the command crew, which entertains me in particular because I expect my character will end up caught in the middle of it.

Vacancies: We have all of the main positions covered, but could still take on JOs in most departments other than security.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: The last month started out good up till just recently we had/have a few loas/awols on the ship. Sim wise though we’re making progress with the Sentinel arriving at Deba III where they find the colonists are missing! As well as much of the colony burned to the ground by unknown forces. Landing parties are being assembled to investigate currently.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: So far the Sentinel is doing well, even with a few LOA’s and Awols as mentioned in the reports the ship still plugged 117 posts in May, which is not bad in my opinion considering the circumstances around at the moment. Most of the posts were main sim lines and check-in’s so it’s clear the crew is still finding their posting Mojo although the quality of writing is fantastic from these amazing writers. She is doing well and I have no concerns, although I have ONE major gripe. C’mon people, is this a TOS ship or what? No redshirt fatalities? Really? Not one totally expected shocking fatality? We could always ring in a bunch of expendables as redshirts, how bout that? Yes? No?

Anyway, she’s doing just fine by all reports and we have no worries here.
