The Infinite Fleet Report - July 2020

USS Chimera

Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: We slowed a little bit, but I think it was mostly due to just summer time craziness. Nothing super concerning for me. The crew is working through Gene’s sim and I’m pleased to report that I have my senior staff positions filled with the exception Batallion Commander, which we could probably do without if really needed. We also would love to round out our crew with some more JO positions as well. If anyone’s interested, drop me an email, we’d love to have you aboard!!

Spotlight: It’s hard to pick just one, everyone really is settling into Gene’s sim quite well. I have to say Thomas Bates is, as usual, sharing a truly fascinating character and I can’t wait to find out more about him.

Executive Officer: AJ Paulson

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We’re moving along in the Interrim Sim on the Bridge. A ship has offered to come to the Chimera’s aide, but have found out that there are hidden ulterior motives. We’re moving in the right direction.

Vacancies: None

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: The crew of the Chimera have suffered an unexpected explosion from one of its impulse engines. This has caused fires, injuries and left the crew scrambling for answers and, hopefully, to keep the ship from blowing up further.

Since that time, the crew has managed to cut power to the impulse engines manually and vented several areas to curtail the fires. Injuries are rolling into sickbay from all over the ship and departments are fanning out to try to contain and explain the situation. A call from a ship an hour away speaks of some hope And help coming as they work to contain the damage. An initial assessment and scans are underway to fathom what happened, and a rescue is underway to free trapped engineers in a safe room. Radiation makes transporting too dangerous and the hull had buckled with the heat and explosion trapping them inside.

Spotlight: Our good chief engineer (Steve Johnson) has been awesome in this, as has the medical staff (Cale).

AFComm’s Comments: Steven and I would like to say thank you for all your work and dedication to the USS Chimera and the Infinite Fleet this term. Not only were we lucky enough to place one captain this term but we were able to appoint Kat Dedul to the position of Captian of the USS Chimera. Kat’s long experience as a CO will only add to the brilliance of how this crew shines in thier posts and creativity. Aside from a new CO there were two other changes. AJ Paulson stepped up as XO and is doing a magnificent job in the role. Tying this command crew together is none other than the fabulous Gene Gibbs as the GM. To the crew of the USS Chimera thank you for all the fabulous stories each week that you shared with us. Fair skies and smooth sailing!

USS Constellation

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Melissa Aragon

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: Relatively healthy, far as I can tell. No ic interaction due to sim setup.

Spotlight: GM because of their ability to integrate my mid sim arrival into the story. Even another new comer is enjoying the twist.
They’re amazing at writing and adapting!

Vacancies: Engineering and Security JOs will give the ship a 1/1 ratio of DH/ JO.
An additional one of each of the 4 JO spots would give the ideal 1/2 ratio.

Gamemaster: Tyra Schroll

Crew Posting Level: 4
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 4

Sim Overview: The crew has made it to the engineering shed and are now trying to get the shields down and find out exactly what is going on.

AFComm’s Comments: Steven and I want to say thank you first of all for the USS Constellation’s dedication to its crew. You are a wonderful command team and hold a special place in our hearts. It is not every day an FCOMM is granted the honor and privilege to place a new captain on a ship however we were given that special opportunity to grant Katy the command seat of the USS Constellation. Captain Capybera, you are an amazing CO and the Connie is so lucky to sail under your creativity and enthusiasm.

Tyra, thank you so much for stepping up when we needed a GM. Your sim, as always is engaging, fun, and a delight to read. Thank you for letting us share in your exploration of the rabbit hole.

While the previous XO had to step away for a time due to life, the role was filled by the amazing Melissa Aragon. This command team is nothing but spectacular and its dedication to making the ship and its crew shine easy to see. Thank you for all your patience, understanding, and cooperation this term. Your support made the FComm role look easy. God speed and don’t drink or eat anything unless the GM specifically says so. We know how that worked out for Alice. ;)

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Russell Watt

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: We haven’t fallen apart yet!

We did farewell Katy and Gene as our GMT and GMM pair this last month. I hope that Katy finds a suitable ship to do her GMT on and am sorry it didn’t work out on the Viking.

Amanda got us a new GM, Sam Pennington, who has slid into the position from his previous position of Department Head.

Spotlight: It is great to have Jim and Sharon with us. Always nice to have former COs/XOs back on the ship in some capacity, either as their old characters or new characters.

Matt Evans has decided to leave us as our COS. It’s sad to see him go, best of luck for the future, Matt.

Vacancies: JOs and DHs as per our ship profile, particularly our CoS and CSO

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: First off Steven and I wanted to say how much of a pleasure it was working with Amanda and Russell this term. Life has given us all a few curve balls and sometimes it felt like I was standing in front of a rogue and malfunctioning pitching machine instead of the leisure pitches that used to come my way. That being said your command team was exemplary in working to solve out bumps and wobbles with us. Thank you for all your support, patience, and dedication to the Viking as we all tired to find what I call a new normal in life right now.

While a huge thank you goes out to Katy and Gene for sharing a sim with us life has pulled them in a different direction. Not all changes however are a bad thing. Change allows us to see and experience new things which is exactly what is happening with the new main sim of the Viking. Holy smokes Egon fire up the ECTO 1 because that is the only vehicle that will keep up with this new story by Sam Pennington. While time did not permit him to add his two cents in the fleet report, I was so excited to be able to share a sneak peak at what is in store for the crew. According to Sam....

The Viking has been pulled out of normal space and the power appears to be out. Haunting echoes of the crew’s past have begun to appear throughout the ship.

Okay I WANT MORE!!!! Sam’s talents are sure to be a perfect fit to the mysterious and suspenful nature of the Viking giving us all the amazing threads we have come to know, love, and expect.

Thank you all for letting us have a glimpse into your ship and I hope you have open spacelanes and steer clear of all pesky ion storms. They do wreak havoc. :)
