The Meridian Fleet Report - September 2020

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: More shadows have appeared but the new XO’s arrival offers a new chance for the Viking as she has yet to fall victim to the ship’s odd ways…

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The CO and XO reports are not excused this month.

This is the first month that this ship has been in Meridian. I see a lot of AWOLs that should be removed from the roster (in excess of 30 days) along with some other general clean up of the MOTD is needed. Otherwise the Sim seems to be moving along at a normal clip, if a little slower than I would like. Definitely room for improvement.

We are still waiting on the charter discussion to come to a close, but that has been tabled until other FCOMM topics are resolved.

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Just above average for the ship. we finished the sim so naturally its slowed down a lot. I started a Treasure Hunt side some but just marginal interest so far.

Spotlight: R Smith for really taking the time to put effort in post. All the new players for joining recently.

Vacancies: Full Command and DH crew so not bad.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Olinksi has been tasked to find a lost Starfleet transport ship: the USS Sierra. The Olinski succeeded in contacting the Sierra and helped the ship to be space worthy again. After admitting two passengers from the Sierra, a Mrs. Pitch and her infant son, crew members were found collapsed and unable to control their movements. Investigations have revealed the Mrs. Pitch was actually the wife of the late Professor Philip Lang. The infant she had with her was their child. Starfleet had contacted the Olinski to reveal that there was an inquiry into the death of Professor Lang and that his wife was sought during the investigations. The Olinski has reached Starbase. The sim is officially ended.

Spotlight: The crew are marvellous. Although the sim was winding down rather slowly, they still posted their own side sims for character development.

FComm’s Comments: XO’s report was not excused this month.

I feel the Olinski is very healthy and have no major issues to report. There are a couple of AWOLs but I am ok with a few. Life happens. The time between sims is always the hardest.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The ship has been boarded by beings from space looking for a symbiote that they know to be harmful and it kills its host most of the time. The symbiote is currently inside the Captain. The Captain has left sickbay and went to the bridge and took control of the ship and locked down all doors, Jeffries tubes, hatches, etc…

Spotlight: I want to thank the entire crew for keeping up with things and doing side SIMs while I was dealing with personal issues. Thank you all.

Vacancies: JO’s in all departments

Executive Officer: Timothy Frogue

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: We have one person that is AWOL–I plan to contact him soon. Other than that we seem to be running well. We are well into our sim and I like where the GM and Captain are taking it.

Spotlight: The GM. He came in after this sim had been started and has turned it into something different–very well done and thought out.

Vacancies: As always, we can use JOs in most Departments.

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: Mysterious entities have boarded the ship and are searching for the hidden mind-stealer. Though they offered little information, the crew elected to let them search…

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: I have really enjoyed watching the sim progress. Not many AWOLs though there is one that I think can probably be taken off the roster. I am pleased that every report is in this month.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Steven Sigle

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We are learning more about these mysterious space vagabonds, and just what they are doing with stolen Federation technology. Kate O’Neill is playing bulldog diplomat to see if she can coax some details on just where they are getting all these shiny toys.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Any JOs would be great.

Executive Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Odin has been steady this month as things slow down in general. Our Sim continues with a chase through the market on a previously unknown colony, while a bunch of side sims take place around the Odin.

Spotlight: James and Mel, they have been running a side sim for their characters that’s keeping them busy and ticking over story wise.

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: After rescuing a freighter, the Odin pursued what seemed like an unregistered Romulan ship. The Odin reaches a strange cluster of ships in a system that is outside Federation space. In fact that space is not claimed by any major power. On contacting the ‘colony’ the Odin discovers that they are like an independent group of people from various systems. They do not answer to any power. When the CNS tries to read the people who answer their hails, she discovers that she cannot read them, in a similar situation like the Ferengi. A meeting is set up where two representatives from the ‘colony’ would board the Odin to negotiate. One is a Ferengi male and the other is a female which looks human but is unreadable like a Ferengi. The CO meets with them and negotiates entry into the system to look for the perpetrators.

Two away teams have been sent down to the colony, which is actually a small planetoid. One team enters the market while the other explores the farmland that are outside the market. In their investigations of the colony, the away team encountered different people. However, in the market place, a suspicious person has been spotted and the teams are converging to apprehend this person. The away teams have cornered the young man, Wiz, who admits to trading with Starfleet equipment. At the same time, the ship has detected a ship trying to power up, getting ready for departure.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Odin is a very healthy ship and I have no real concerns. There are a number of AWOLs that need to be dropped from the roster, but otherwise everything seems clean.

Steve didn’t respond to my request for why they don’t accept new members, so we will need to revisit the legitimacy of that requirement at a future time

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Saracen has begun our next sim and welcomes James Harrison to the ship! So far we have received a distress signal, and it appears it’s a recorded message from a nearby planet under attack.

Other side sims taking place with the crew are our CIO having a knee replacement, I mean the guy is something like 400 years old so something had to give, right? Our CE and one of our Science Officers look to be about to tie the knot, maybe, and intrigue continues with our sentient/sapient AI inhabitant that used to be a member of the crew…

Quite a few of us have been LOA or AWOL lately, I am not concerned here, the Saracen put through a decent number of posts and this time of year is often slow. Plus I know I have more than a couple of teachers on my crew and with things as they are at the moment world wide, I applaud them for still being with us and taking the time to be posting. Work for myself has been hectic and I haven’t had much time online myself lately.

The MOTD has also been updated. I’m not sure what the comment was last report cycle about it needing an update, I had gone through with my XO teaching him how to update it literally days beforehand and aside from the Sim which had not started, was up to date.

Spotlight: Jen and Terry take out this months spotlight, their threads have been fun to keep an eye on.

Vacancies: We have room for Swings in Chief Tactical and Ops, as well as any JO’s people might want to play.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The XO and GM weren’t excused from reports this month.

There are a few number of AWOLs that I would like to see cleaned up but the posting rate is within tolerances and the sim is progressing nicely. I have no major concerns.

Dave did explain his no new members stance, and I understand the situation better and agree that new members may not be the best fit for the Saracen.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: XO and GM were excused for the month due to LOA. CO was not excused.

The Sentinel needs help, and Dave and I have talked about it at length what the path forward looks like for her. The plan includes cleaning up some of the AWOLs and finding new crew to fill in. I am hoping to see her turn around as this is a great sim environment normally.
