The Meridian Fleet Report - September 2018

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: I have seen some slow down on posting and some of that is due to LOA’s etc.. The slow down is not urgent and may just be my perception because the ship is doing fine. The sim is moving along as we took decisive action on finding out what was going on planet side in usual Olinski fashion. All is well overall.

Spotlight: My pilots finally came to life. I’m giving this to all 3. CAG Terry Sullivan, Squad Leader Melissa Aragon and pilot Sam Pennington.

Executive Officer: R Smith

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Participation picked up in August. Side threads of course, are sporadic but not forgotten.

Spotlight: Special mention for Terry Sullivan who plays Commander Richard “Ricochet” O’Shea (Cmd Air Group (CAG)) for initiating two side threads while participating heavily in the main story. His training side thread invited four other players to participate, perhaps the highest number of players in side thread that wasn’t initiated by a CO.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Olinski has been sent to investigate the Antioch system where communications ceased. A Pendragon class ship, USS Dragoon, has also stopped responding after it was sent to investigate.

Armed with this little information, the Olinski moved cautiously as they neared the Antioch system. They were able to detect the Dragoon in orbit over one of the planets but most of the systems were offline. The planet showed human habitation but in a pre-coal civilisation. Yet, microwaves were detected emanating from the planet, strongest where the Dragoon was over.

This month: A runabout and a few fighters were sent to reconnoitre the situation. The crew on the runabout and fighters were aware of a hum that became increasingly annoying the nearer they were to the planet. One of the fighters got caught in the microwaves and found herself moving towards the planet surface. Thinking that the ship was being controlled, she discovered to her horror that her hands and feet were not doing what she wanted.

At the same time, a torpedo armed with a way to counter the microwaves was launched and successfully negated the effects of the microwaves. The fighter who was controlled regained control of her own body and was ordered to return to the ship.

AFComm’s Comments: AFCOMM
The USS Brian A. Olinski saw a slightly slower posting level with only 104 Posts for the month. Overall the ship is moving forward and the LOA’s are coming to a end.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Krystelle McLean

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The ship has been plagued by quite a few of LOA’s and AWOLs this month which have slowed things down significantly. This has included the GM which with coupled with the crew’s absences has greatly reduced the sim progress this month. I am hoping this due to the end of summer and commencement of school/work life so perhaps things will improve over the next month.

Spotlight:

Executive Officer: Travis Good

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The ship is doing good. A couple people late with posting but overall not bad. We are at a point in the SIM where some of the crew has been beamed off the ship against their will by the Cardassians. The other crew made it to an asteroid where they are hiding out and fixing the ship.

Spotlight: I would like to spotlight Mwezi for his planetary side SIM which is written in great detail and to Kane for doing a great job thinking about things that we should be doing to survive. Also the GM for posting even though we know it is a difficult time for you right now.

Gamemaster: Joshua Ezell

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: The Chernov has found herself across known space in Cardassian territory due to testing a new warp engine. She is under powered, torn up, and in dire straits. The crew have decided to take refuge in a hollow asteroid large enough to fit the ship.

Spotlight: None

AFComm’s Comments: AFCOMM

The Chernov has seen a huge decrease in posting level with 53 Posts for the month. The Captain has made steps to increase these numbers and I am looking forward to seeing a increase in the next month. As a Fleet Command we will be monitoring and assisting this process as we can.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Steven Sigle

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Nanites everywhere! That’s what it appears as we find an empty, yet still active Borg ship. Our crew discovered not all life was gone, as and AI appears to be running the ship. New members have been wonderful as the family keeps growing.

Spotlight:

Executive Officer: Parisa Footohi

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The Odin’s away team are on a mysterious ship, answering the questions of the AI they ran into.

Spotlight:

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: The Odin has been sent to investigate a tetrahedral shaped ship that had emerged from the exit point of the Borg transwarp node. The away team have discovered that the ship seems to be a single entity. They have also transported a bunch of nanites from the ship to Science. At the moment, they have only discovered that the nanites could not ‘infect’ an individual to turn them into the Borg,

AFComm’s Comments: AFCOMM

The Odin is still moving forward on a steady pace for a slow ship with 113 post’s for the month. Key positions that were absent have been filled on the ship.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 10
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 10

Ship Status: The Saracen’s sim has come to an end, the Federation has been saved and we have returned from the 21st Century in need of a large overhaul and some R&R. In the down time in between Sims, the crew is taking leave on the Fleet Star Base, a few of them might be finding an extra pip or so on their collars, and we have new crew to introduce to the ship.

With 328 posts in August (by my systems reckoning) the Saracen exploded with fantastic stories and character interactions as the crew come to terms with the effects of the last sim, take their shore leave and supervise upgrades and the refit while we await the next mission. Dave Eads is going to be starting his sim as our GMT and we see the return of Jeremy DeSpain and the introduction to the ship of Austin Curtis and James Sinclair. Kate O’Neill brings on a second character with her usual flair, and there isn’t much that a CO could wish for with this bunch. Maybe a few more JO’s…

Spotlight: While a lot of people say it, this month really is so darn hard to spotlight just one person or so. Everybody has done a fantastic job, the creativity and writing quality has been a standout, with side sims and other threads taking place that have all been, to a one, fun and a joy to follow.

So, the spotlight this month goes to… the Saracen. Thank you to everybody who has made her an amazing ship this month, your creativity and passion for the characters and stories have been a shining light to your skill and ability as story weavers.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: AFCOMM
The Saracen has a high level of posting level with 327 post’s and very few AWOL’s this month. Overall the ship seems to be moving forward well
