The Black Fleet Report - January 2021

USS Constellation

Commanding Officer: Brian Richards

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We’ve welcomed a few new members to our crew and have had some good side sims running with trainings with our new helmsperson trainer, the arrest of the dastardly Xitt, and the outflowing of pets. I know Russ is back from a vacation and while we have a few folks who are outside of posting limits I’m looking forward to see how the ship grows in the in 2021.

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: Melissa Aragon

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: Ship is posting really well and things are moving forward at a good pace.

Spotlight: Russel Watt for playing the blob duo Dum and Dee Tweedle. Keeping them true to character and having their sense of humor is a breath of fresh air in RP and I am getting a kick out of them.

Vacancies: JOs for Security, Engineering and Science would give us a 1/1 DH/JO ratio.

Gamemaster: Russell Watt

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: The sim has become stalled due to the GM’s inability to post.

I am speaking with the CO behind the scenes and we’ve been speaking extensively about the ship.

Spotlight: The Kelpie is amazing. She comes into the Discord server and greets us all with a friendly hello. As a result, the Kelpie gets my spotlight this month

AFComm’s Comments: Mel is excused

My hope is that the Connie can get through the Sim with minimal loss of NEs. I truly believe that the Connie will be back once the Sim gets moving along.

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Janice B.

Crew Posting Level: 2
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 3

Ship Status: OOC: As the XO, I will take the blame for the poor conditions of the ship. I aim to focus on this month to bring it up back to a more stable speed and keep it there. AWOLs will be sent out and other needed things will be addressed. I also want to apologize to the crew of the ship for dropping the ball.

Medical:
As the CMO tried his best to save the pilot, the patient’s damage was too great and he passed. He left a message for the station which the CMO delivered to Avik on the bridge. His attention turned to the CO who awoke from his failed cybernetics and tried to recall what happened. He was quickly filled in by both Vora and the CMO.

Bridge:
On the bridge, a signal reached the communications and requested for the position of the pilot. With a heavy heart, the XO made contact and delivered the deceased pilot’s message. She offered to drop the ship off at the station soon. The CSO, curious about the technology, decided to request an examination of its specs. Being a moral driven individual, the CNS discouraged it and explained it risked hurting trust. A middle ground was reached that allowed the CSO to examine it, but not dig too deep into the systems.

Shuttle Bay: After the pilot was transported out, security’s next task was to evaluate and access the ship. They did some basic scans and explored the outside, finally donning EVA suits before they entered. Both CoS and her fellow officer went inside. Carefully they explore the interior. Shortly they are joined by the CE and CSO, the latter a bit disappointed in Avik’s decision to take the high road.

Spotlight: None

Vacancies: Europa still has JO positions in the Medical and Science departments. If anyone is interested, please contact JoeP or me through Discord or email.

Gamemaster: Matt Evans

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 3

Sim Overview: The Europa made contact with the command authority in the area of space they’ve been tasked to evaluate for first contact. They had retrieved the damage warp test craft and despite trying to treat the test pilot they ended up passing. Though curiously their corporeal body disappeared in a shimmer of particles. Will this be super important to the sim later? Who knows! They’ve set course to return the craft but at a super slow speed to give the engineers, security, and the CSO a chance to snoop around. Hopefully they find something good.

Spotlight: I’d like to spotlight Janice for doing an amazing job as XO.

FComm’s Comments: Posting has taken a hit compared to last month. On the plus side, AWOLs are on the low end and the sim is progressing at a good pace.

AFComm’s Comments: The CO is not excused

I surely had hoped that the Europa was coming around, but had taken a slight derailment in posting. I’m hoping things will be better for the Fleet’s flagship this month. I know what the Europa is capable of. I want to see more postings from the Senior Staff. You have a slew of amazing writers on board. You can definitely up the amount of postings than January’s.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: The Genesis is rolling along strongly, particularly on side sims. The main line continues to be the research of a spaceborne alien and the space rift it’s heading to where more of its kind seem to reside. We should work a little harder on these threads to we can push the mission forward.

The relationships developments that are occurring in the end of year holiday party are pretty interesting and I quite like the interactions that that might be the basis for future conflicts.

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Posting appears to have picked up compared to last month. While the Genesis does have AWOL characters, the sim appears to be moving along at a steady pace.

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: During an uneventful journey, the Merrimack has escorted the Alstair ship back to Alstair Prime. We found no evidence of the three sleeper ships, which was the original mission of the Alstair ship. The injured Alstair crew have been treated in the Merrimack Sickbay. Questions remain about the Alstair society, the lack of any males, and the role of the Tri-Council.

Posting aboard the Merrimack during January remained slow. The pandemic, the loss of two crew, and slow posting by the GM have all contributed. However, I have cajoled the players we have out of their AWOLs, and everyone has been active and participated this month. We also have two new crew (one who hasn’t begun so should not be listed as nearly one year AWOL). My wish for February would once again be that everyone make a longer and more descriptive post, including some hook that requires a further reply.

Spotlight: Am I allowed to spotlight my own post? Apparently Robert really enjoyed the meeting between Glen and his new Transporter Officer, BJ Hunnicutt. I’m afraid not much else of significance happened this month. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf6/merrimack/posts/119236/

Vacancies: Speak to the Captain directly. Any custom character suggestion will be entertained. All DH positions filled. Junior officers available.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Dave is doing a great job with ensuring his roster remains green! He and Rob are ensuring everyone remains active, which is evident by the lack of established AWOL characters. :)

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Russell Watt

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: The crew continues to amaze me with their dedication to Oed V.

I am sad to report I continue to struggle, however.

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: I am cautiously optimistic this month. The Klingon thread led by James Sinclair has been great. The slow moving Black Sparrow thread has been consistent. Several small threads opening up as well. So far there is an upward trend. Not big yet but gaining.

Spotlight: James Sinclair for his great writing of a Klingon Lord.

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: I’d like to see some crewmember spotlights on these reports from here on out. It’s good not only for the person being recognized, but also it’s good to know that you appreciate the effort that they put into their writing.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: James Sinclair

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Still in orbit around Risa, the Wolverine has been trying to find some items of intest to SF Intel. Their search has obviously ruffled some feathers because someone abducted the CE.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Swing Positions
JO’s - All Departments

Gamemaster: Jason Lee

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: Warehouse 13 meets Star Trek or is it the opposite? The Wolverine has been assigned to track down artifacts and figure out who wants the Captain dead. In the process of trying to find out this information, Lt. Petrov has been captured from Risa.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Compared to last month, the Wolverine is seeing an increase in posting rates! While there are a few AWOLs, I’m not seeing any negative effects at the moment.

Overall: The overall tone is that the Black Fleet is in okay. I’m not going to call anyone out for missing reports, but there is a trend. I’ll chalk it up to RL getting in the way given the state the world is in right now. I am excited to see a larger increase in posting throughout the fleet, however!
