The Meridian Fleet Report - January 2021
USS Brian A. Olinski
Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker
Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6
Ship Status: Ok. we slipped a little this month. Slowed down gradually and that was my fault. I had a ton on my plate in RL and missed about 9 days of posting. However we are back on track in the last week and posting is building again. Sim is great. Real action packed so far.
Spotlight: Luke Hung as the new XO. Not unexpected but he is doing great.
Vacancies: CMO
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: No report submitted
FComm’s Comments: Not really an excuse for the XO or GM to not have submitted their reports however the ship seems to be doing ok. As Sid indicated their was a slip but it seems to have stabled out. No concerns.
USS Chernov
Commanding Officer: Travis Good
Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6
Ship Status: We are starting a new Sim where we are going to the planet Galdor to investigate a very strange death and or disappearance. We will be working with their government to find the cause
Spotlight: Mwezi for coming up with Sim and for great posting
Vacancies: Need JO’S in all departments
Executive Officer: Timothy (Do Not Contact) Frogue
Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6
Ship Status: We just finished one sim and have moved into another one. Things seem to being flowing well on the ship.
Each one of the ship’s department heads seems to be (somewhat) holding their own. There are times when I, as the XO, need to give them a slight nudge but, for the most part, I think they keep things moving along.
Spotlight: Leonora V, playing the ship’s doctor and counselor stands out to me. She always seems to be a great motivation to the crew and is always there when someone needs to side sim. Also, during the last sim, she kept the XO (me) on his toes.
Vacancies: As always, we need more JO’s. Specifically, we could use a JO in Engineering and a Helmsman. During this era of Trek, a Helmsman is pretty important to a ship.
Gamemaster: Sam Pennington
Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 5
Sim Overview: An entity with no known name brought death upon the bridge and fled into the captain’s mind. Extradimensional beings came to track this entity, calling it a mind stealer. A hesitant Chernov crew agreed to their help. The sim concluded in January with the capture of the mental parasite stowing away aboard the Chernov.
Spotlight:
FComm’s Comments: First: I have no clue who is running this new sim as Sam has left the Chernov and I haven’t approved a new GM. This will be further investigated and remediated.
Second: Tim has resigned since submitting his report but I hope he is doing well. There is a vacancy for this position and though I wasn’t told about it directly and therefore haven’t advertised for it, I encourage interested parties to reach out to Travis.
USS Odin
Commanding Officer: Steven Sigle
Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7
Ship Status: The Odin’s crew is doing well given that life seems to have everyone treading water from time to time. The crew is taking turns passing around the life preserver when it’s needed but what more can anyone do but support each other. The main sim is moving along nicely with Mason’s away team finding out possible answers to where the altered Federation gear is coming from. Lissi is still trying to find out what she can on the planet surface from the Wiz even though he doesn’t know Odin’s away team is with the man he is trying to help protect.
Side sim activity can be summed up in three words: Kids kids and more kids. The Odin is officially changing its mascot to a stork. We have the Captian welcoming a new baby which we are eagerly waiting to see if the crew is getting pink or blue cupcakes with all their meals to celebrate the newest arrival. Calin is not the only officer to be getting a bundle of joy, however. Mason and Paris are seeing the arrival of Baby Black. Well more like preschooler Black. Who would have thought that an away mission would lead to the XO becoming a father? Definitely not Mason and Paris but life has a way of going left making everything turn outright. Shaun however is experiencing the first crisis as a father. He is trying to figure out a way to wrestle the bottle of merlot out of Kate’s hand long enough to tell her that the flu she has been fighting is not the 48-hour variety but the nine-month variety.
Spotlight: I wanna give a shout out to the crew as a whole. We made it through some tough times and I am proud to see my team and really STF as a whole making it through some hard times. I also wanna give a shout out to Ben Z, who just joined up and has been a great asset to the Odin crew.
Vacancies: All JOS
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: No report submitted
FComm’s Comments: No XO or GM reports this month and I don’t know why.
Several AWOLs and LOAs this month but I suspect things will get better once people return. Otherwise things seem to be going smoothly.
USS Saracen
Commanding Officer: No report submitted
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: James Harrison
Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7
Sim Overview: It’s been another slow month. I have to apologize that things have not progressed farther in the sim. I am trying to get things moving more.
Sim Summary - The crew is still preparing to take a shuttle to the planet and investigate the comm signal they had received. They’re also starting to investigate the debris from the ships that had been destroyed in the area. SARAH is interacting with the mysterious little girl in the main computer.
Biggest Contributor - Everyone who is responding to my GM threads and helping me keep things moving
I don’t have much to add this month, except another apology on my end and a promise to do better.
Spotlight:
FComm’s Comments: No report from the CO or XO despite multiple reminders. The XO is severely AWOL and may need to be removed soon.
The ship has an upsetting number of AWOLs. I have reached out to the command crew to see if there is anything I can do to help bring them up and going strong again. James is doing a great job with his SIM (despite what he says in his report)
USS Sentinel
Commanding Officer: No report submitted
Executive Officer: Joe P
Crew Posting Level: 2
Senior Staff Posting Level: 1
Overall Ship Health: 2
Ship Status: DHs aren’t writing very much, because we’re all kind of sitting around waiting for the sim to go somewhere. JOs, what are those?
There’s very little action in the main sim, because we’ve been stuck in a briefing forever. There’s very little side simming on the Sentinel generally. People just do the bare minimum and that’s about it.
Spotlight: I would say that the two shining stars this month are Terry Sullivan and Sharon Miller, because they’re actually doing a side sim somewhat consistently where their characters are developing.
Vacancies:
Gamemaster: No report submitted
FComm’s Comments: GM report was excused for this month.
Sooo.....
The Sentinel needs a lot of help. Many of the members of the crew are AWOL and the sim has stalled. I have spoken to Dave and Joe about this a couple of times and if something doesn’t change soon, drastic measures may need to be taken for the health of the ship.
USS Viking
Commanding Officer: James Harrison
Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7
Ship Status: -How is the ship looking overall?
In January we had a decent number of posts. We finally were able to get back to the Starbase after the former Viking ship disappeared and completely vanished from existence. We had some great interactions between the new members waiting to board, as well as our wonderful Fleet Commander Geoff making a guest appearance for us!!!
-What is your favorite moment/post?
https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/119243/
I enjoyed this thread of our new members who were on the Starbase waiting for us to arrive. Great to see the new crew getting to know each other.
-Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for the next month
We have our new ship which we are boarding, also a brand new XO and Luke has just started our new Sim. So for the next month I would love to see the entire crew posting and interacting and getting this new sim kicked off
Spotlight:
Vacancies:
Executive Officer: Samuel Stroud
Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7
Ship Status: 1- How are the DHs and the JOs doing? With the exception of a single member, everyone has posted on a decently consistent basis, No DH’s have been excessively AWOL since the start of our new sim and introduction threads.
2- Is everyone active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The main sim has just begun, and so there has not been a whole lot of time for engagement in it yet. The side sims have seen regular activity.
3- Who is the shining star this month? James Harrison has put in a lot of work to assemble this group and get the new ship running.
Spotlight: The effort of our new group to get the ship up and running has been commendable, all around people have been contributing and developing character beats for themselves.
Vacancies: JO’s in all Departments
Gamemaster: Luke Hung
Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6
Sim Overview: I have yet to be rostered.... but I’m ready to go. I just posted sixes cause I don’t have a hard opinion.
Spotlight:
FComm’s Comments: My poster child for the month, the Viking has really turned things around and I am quiet pleased. Luke has started the sim and it is shaping up to be a good one. I am glad to welcome Sam to the slightly smaller of the big chairs.
I was late this month with my report due to real life issues. There are several issues pointed out in the report that will need to be addressed in short order.
-Geoff
