The Meridian Fleet Report - February 2021

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The ship is doing well despite some serious holes in the roster. The sim is just great with action galore. We are chasing the Breen all over the galaxy after they attacked the Tholians in Federations space, attacked a SF vessel who tried to interfere, then attacked Cardassian ships who responded to the area when they jumped into their space. We are currently trying to rescue the survivors on the Cardassian ships and preparing to give some love back to the Breen.

Spotlight: Simple here. The GM, Kenson Koh. Great sim and he is keeping the pace correct as we go forward.

Vacancies: Here is the rub for the Olinski. We are doing well but we need people all over the DH ranks. We need a CMO. We had one straight out of the Academy. That was a great attempt to help from Daniel in the PDept and the Academy but unfortunately it did not work out. We need a CE and don’t ask me what happened there. We were fine and then the CE disappeared. The open CSO role is because we promoted Luke to XO. It sounds bad but were rping pretty well.

I do not have much time to do the Discord thing but I have jumped back in. Its really the best place to recruit and not being there is not helping my ship. So I will try but given my schedule it will be tough. Regular recruiting in STF is a dead end in my opinion.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Olinski is pursuit of a group of Breen ships pursuing a large and still unknown Tholian ship. Having a battle in Federation space is actually an act of aggression. However, it would seem that the Tholian ship is being harassed by the Breen. As the Breen and Tholians move close to the Cardassian border, a group of Cardassian ships come to protect their border, but the Breen makes mincemeat of them. The Cardassian ships have lost communications and life support. In the meantime, the Tholians seem to be trying to get back to their own space but the Breen are sending reinforcements.

On the Federation side, there are four heavy ships standing by in case there is a need. The Olinski has been ordered to make assessment.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: The Olinski’s chugging along well despite the XO change and a few AWOLs. Hopefully we can get those vacancies filled quickly.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: We are now docking into the station at Galdor and have requested a meeting with certain council members to help with a problem.

Spotlight: The whole crew for putting up with vacancies and absences and for Commander Grey since he was thrust into the XO spot again. Thank you all for your support and commitment.

Vacancies: Engineering JO’s

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: A few AWOLs that appear to be only just slightly. Still no GM for the Chernov but hopefully that will be changed soon, and with a new XO, there’s still hope for the old gal!

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: Considering that it is a slow ship, the sim is moving ahead but very slowly.

The suspicious ship has been boarded and the crew are dealing with the suspected pirates.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: Great work from Kenson, as always. Lack of reports from CO and XO is rather worrying, but the ship is moving. There are a couple AWOLs that should hopefully be resolved soon.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Ffion Grace

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: XO’s Log, Stardate..... March

The Saracen has responded to a distress call with her usual haste and alacrity.

We have deployed an away team via shuttle to assist potential survivors, whilst our engineers and scientists examine debris of unknown origin found at the scene.

Our Chief Science Officer has manfully stepped into the breach to engage the highly attractive alien female that is attempting to communicate with us, his self and sacrifice and attention to duty have not gone unnoticed by the senior staff, who were momentarily indisposed at the time.

The ship remains at Yellow Alert status in the event that the strange ship that fled on our arrival returns. We have lost communications with our shuttle team and have prepared a support team to assist or extract them if this becomes necessary.

XO’s Log, Additional:
I have begun a series of unannounced inspections of the various departments aboard in order to familiarise myself with both the ship and her crew. These should be seen as informal and unrelated to any upcoming annual performance reviews.

Spotlight: Although I have not been aboard long, I would like to give a shout out to Luke Hung, playing Teller Graham our CSO. Luke stepped in to try and keep the Main Sim rolling on the bridge and did an excellent job, so thank you Luke!

Vacancies: JO’s of all departments would be welcome and we are always open to any interesting ideas people have for Swing positions, so feel free to drop myself or Dave a message!

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: One minor AWOL and one slightly more major that I’d like looked into. No report from the CO or GM worries me, but it’s perfectly fine right now.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: J Ridgley

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: A bit of a short one for this month given I have only been in command for a week. However, this will be more of a ‘look forward to’ than what has happened.

Since taking over I have already seen an increase in activity with now AWOLS to report. We have just started the new Main Simm and I am encouraging people to conduct side-sims to boost our activity which seems to be working. We have one LOA and I am confident they will return, all thing considered and despite my ratings I believe the Sentinel is in a great place to move forward and once again be a prime example of creativeness and fantastic writing.

As we move into the simm which Roach has prepared for us I am certain we will see a hive of activity.

During my short time I have already had the pleasure of Paddington additional crew to the rooster;

Ensign Rand Kabil by Jennifer Ward
Ensign Randal ‘Randy’ Kabil by Brian Richards

Both of who are already doing a fantastic job as Yeoman siblings!

Spotlight: I’d like to spotlight Cale and Rob for keeping the ship afloat and helping me to move into the big seat. I would also like to also spotlight Nicole C who stepped up to become my XO with very short notice and convincing andwho has become my mentor as much as a great first officer.

Vacancies: Currently, we have no DH roles however I am actively seeking all JOs and additional swing position on a case by case setting.

Executive Officer: Nicole C

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 3

Ship Status: 1- How are the DHs and the JOs doing?

The sim has only just restarted and we haven’t been able to look at or develop the DHs and others yet, however all DHs have been very receptive to the handoff of the ship. The coming month seems promising both for the sim and getting to know the crew.

2- Is everyone active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

All crew is active with no one AWOL. We are currently gaining momentum from the restart of the sim and look forward to both the development of side and main sims.

Spotlight: Rob and Calé have kept the ship afloat during the hand off, and have assisted in keeping the ship handoff smooth. Their presence on the ship has been invaluable.

Vacancies: All DH roles are filled however we are actively seeking JOs and swing positions.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: It’s great to have the new CO/XO and company going so well! Crew and ship health wise things are going mostly well, and the sim is slowly but surely moving forward with the Sentinel just setting out to Sigma 9 mining colony and getting briefings done. No other major problems to report.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: New CO/XO reported and didn’t even really need to! This is great! I like that Nicole answered the questions we’ve been requesting in reports now.

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: The new mission has just begun. An old, but large, unpowered star ship seemingly appeared in the course of the Viking. After a few attempts a basic level of communication has been established and the Viking crew is curiously investigating this ‘coincidence’ from a distance. Demonstrating the Star-Fleet motto, ‘meet strange new races,’ from a safe distance and with phasers pointed.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: Most of the roster is on LOA or AWOL, yay. Would like to see these AWOLs resolved in the coming month.
