The Meridian Fleet Report - March 2021

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: All looks good. With a new CE and CSO its feeling a little more full on the Olinski. The sim is progressing well. Right now its a lull in the action but no drop off in posting. All good.

Spotlight: Im going with Nathan Miller the new CE. Good posting right now and getting himself into the sim.

Vacancies: Just CMO and I have been working on that so far with no success but with the new CE and CSO its not a show stopper missing one DH.

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The Olinski attempt to figure out why the Tholans, Breen, and Cardassian are having a running battle through the Federation border territories. Nathan Miller as Thomas Faraday has been fairly active injecting himself where possible on the main and secondary sim threads.

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Olinski is pursuit of a group of Breen ships pursuing a large and still unknown Tholian ship. The Tholian ship seemed to be harassed by the Breen. The Breen and Tholians move close to the Cardassian border; the Cardassian ships react to protect their border. The Breen damages the Cardassian ships causing them to lose communications and life support. The Tholians seem to be trying to get back to their own space but the Breen are relentless. The Olinski intervenes; the Breen considers this a declaration of war and flees. Four heavy ships standing by in case there is a need. The Tholians attempt to return to their space but the Federation, represented by the Olinski, demand an explanation of the incursion. There is a stalemate as the Tholians agree to remain but would not say anything before their government gives permission.

In the meantime, the Olinski’s crew rescues the Cardassians and are trying to help them with repairs.

FComm’s Comments: I am pleased with the Olinski as usual. It is good to see more of the DH slots filling up and the roster with fewer LOAs and AWOLs. Great Job!

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We are docked and are getting ready to find out what has happened to one of our crew and his mate. This is a series of questions and investigating to find out the source.

Spotlight: Everyone is writing very well. The whole crew deserves it. Our new XO has a past with the ship and the CMO which is making for great storytelling. Our Alien, Mwezi, is doing a great job of painting a picture of his homeworld and setting the scene. Ensign Blaze is coming out i=of his detention and is starting the process of becoming a great officer, which he already had the makings of.

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: Trinity Fister

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: March was my first month as Chernov’s XO, so it serves to say I’m still (re-) getting to know the crew! :)

Chernov is without a GM, but Miriam W. has delighted us with a deeper look into Galdori culture with the interim Main Sim. Currently, Chernov has docked at Galdor to transfer an ailing weapons officer into capable hands (or paws!) while also attempting diplomacy.

  1. How are DHs and JOs doing?

I’m proud of the crew for persisting through multiple changes; however, I’ve noticed the absence of a GM has weighed heavily on activity and engagement. Despite this, the crew has worked hard to find or make places to insert their characters. Well done!

We currently have two AWOLs, one an overdue LOA and the other mild, and a couple of LOAs. I’m confident we’ll welcome them back within the next few weeks.

On a lighter note, Matt Bongiorno joined us this month with his security officer/helmswoman Evelyn Gruver! Welcome aboard, Matt.

  1. Is everyone participating in Main and Side Sims?

Although the main sim has progressed slowly, the crew have engaged side, pre- and post-sims. From counselling visits, getting on a certain doctor’s nerves, and learning to play Tri-D Chess, these sims have curbed inactivity and offered some neat plotlines! I hope to facilitate more engagement in the side and main sims next month.

Spotlight: Miriam W. - Miriam has worked tirelessly to both carry the main sim and expand the lore on her custom peoples, the Galdori.
Leonora V. - Leonora plays Kanina Dran, one of the few (and perhaps only) counsellors you’ll see in Abramsverse. She’s done a fantastic job exploring the role and writing an equally intriguing and insightful character.

Vacancies: GM; JOs in Medical, Science, Weapons and Engineering!

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: I am very disappointed in the continued lack of a GM despite many attempts to find one that fits the ship’s style. It is very concerning indeed.

Over all I am glad to have Trinity back, she is doing good work and other than the GM issue (mentioned several times above) feel the ship is in Ok enough health.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Steven Sigle

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: It slower month than expected, but looking to fix that. Going to open up a new side sim that got derailed by my working on the awards that should help. Think Die Hard on a beach, hope everyone is looking forward to some fun in the sun and hostages. As for our main sim, we are getting closer to the ones responsible for the unprovoked attacks as we look into the roving space flotilla of low lives and outcasts. Will the Odin be able to get out alive is a question.

Spotlight: Really wanna give a shout out to Kenson for helping keeping the sim going, slow speeds can sometimes be brutal for a GM and he has been keeping us on task.

Vacancies: All JOs

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: The suspected pirate ship has been boarded and although the tricorder shows Federation made parts, their part serial signatures are not detectable. On the planet, the away team is trying to convince the young man they had cornered to cooperate.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Overall a weak month for the Odin. Lots of AWOLs and LOAs which is contributing to a slower than normal rate but overall nothing I am hugely worried about. Congratulations to Steven and his 10 year commendation!

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Ffion Grace

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: XO’s log, stardate..... Thursday?

I have been out of action following an incident on the otherwise routine away mission to the planet Covidia-19.

Hopefully Dr Knight and her team will have me back to fighting fitness soon.

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The Saracen needs some love. Most of the ship is LOA at the moment which has led to lower activity than I prefer to see on this ship. I am glad to see Ffion back in an XO position and feel, all things considered, she is doing great.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: J Ridgley

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: This month the ship is looking great and the mission just shaping up, we’ve had an influx of new crew members and only currently sit with one AWOL though this is being addressed and the characters in which this player plays are only what we consider redshirts or non-critical to our main sim. In the grand scheme of things the ship is far healthier than when I first took over and I believe we’ve doubled the crew size and more than tripled the posting limit which stands at 277 for this month a great effort from the crew.

I think my favourite moment of this month has to be the impromptu crew together post-sim when we are all viewing the ship for the first time and the Yeoman getting a little embarrassed. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/sentinel/posts/126765/

For the following month I hope to see the MOTD be finished which has been hampered by technical issues which I know Tech are working towards fixing, this in turn I hope makes the site a bit more pleasant on the eyes, Im also aware of an issue with google chrome mobile users where the MOTD kind of mashes together which is also being fixed. For the Sim I’d like to see it get well underway and hope to be well and truly in the thick of it come the next reporting peroid.

Spotlight: Spotlights this month have got to go to our two brilliantly Yeomans who never cease to provide some laughs!

Vacancies: Swing Positions
JOs - All Departments

Executive Officer: Nicole C

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: With the sim getting underway and enthusiasm high, I continue to be hopeful for the ship. We have several LOAs but no AWOLs and posting is good. Participation in both side and main sims so far is medium-high.

Spotlight: Jennifer as the yeoman Rand, for always entertaining us and taking care of the captain. Our fantastic GM Rob for, well, everything.

Vacancies: Actively seeking JOs and swing roles.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The Sentinel is well on the way to recovery. I have high hopes and think they will be just fine in the long run once they get over their growing pains.

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: The Viking has crossed paths with a large, over 800 year old starship, which appears to be unoccupied. The star-ship itself seems to be trying to communicate with the Vicking using prime numbers, then a picture - word library… old school translation before the universal translator. At this point the Captain and crew are deciding what to do as the ‘Ghost’ ship approaches at warp 2.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Looking at the Viking it is doing ok. Some areas of improvement that are being addressed. In the end good growth plan ahead of them.

Final comments: It has been truly an honor and Katy has been a good AFComm. I have full confidence in Brian and have already started to transition to him.
