The Pioneer Fleet Report - June 2021
Commanding Officer: Miriam W
How is your ship looking overall? Overall the Athena is doing fairly well this month. The sim is handling quite well, with most of our crewmembers being able to explore Fantasy Planet and their own adventures, and the rest of us on the ship with a mystery man to deal with! The crew is fairly active, apart from a couple people.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Therapy in Unusual Places continues to be a fun read. It’s great to see Viyara and Janna getting that development.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’d like to bring in more JOs, and maybe get some more interaction started amongst the crew in side-sim form.
Executive Officer: D Grisham
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The sim is moving along slowly. A group of five on the roster have just been delivered to their ‘fantasy island’. They requested parasailing, fishing, snorkeling, beach life and to explore some kind of ruins. They haven’t settled in yet as the boat has just arrived. It should be noted that the island is five hours away from the main hotel where the ‘fantasy’ setup is located. There is another group slowly getting their ideas seen to, so I’m sure we will have some excitement before the next report.
As for those who stayed on the ship, which includes the CO, they have beamed aboard an unconscious, naked, alien. It remains to be seen what he wants.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Pretty much everyone is active, its just slow going at the beginning of any sim, usually, while we all find our feet.
Who is the shining star this month? No one stand out this month but I’m sure we will have a star by the next report.
Gamemaster: Ian Kerby
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: While some are lounging by the infinity pool and others are heading off to start a “Tomb Raider” like fantasy a strange thing has occurred on the ship. Travelling by means as yet unknown a stranger has arrived on Athena, worn, near death, humanoid, seemingly normal… apart from the small wings on their ankles…
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? James Sinclair as Daggum Hammor.
FComm’s Comments: As usual, Ian is setting up an exciting sim. I think preparations are underway and action will happen soon. Ship health looks good.
Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill
How is your ship looking overall? The Atlantis is doing well for summer vacations, personal situations, and life in general for the crew. The sim is moving along and as usual Luke Hung is doing an amazing job of accomodating the crew in it throughout all the LOA’s and occasional AWOL’s.
I needed to fill the CMO and CSO positions on the roster. I was lucky enough to be able to promote from within the ship to fill one of these positions. Leonora V is moving her character into this role. We are still looking for a CSO for the ship. Jen Ward is also switching out characters for a new CNS. I am super excited to learn about her new character Cara.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I have loved the edition of Nathan Derricutt’s newest unrostered character and his concept of the restaurant for the Atlantis. I am also super excited to see that while ‘Big Mike’ has left the ship, James is introducing a new character called Bubbles to fill the spot. Both of these new characters are super fun and I can’t wait to see how they are interacting with the crew.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I need to fill the CSO position.
Executive Officer: Gene Gibbs
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have a bit of LOA action happening but otherwise the troops are engaged. It’s a bit of a challenge with the crew split with the sim. While it helps to engage more of the crew it can be a bit of a hinder if some are away. There are side sims happening which is nice to see while we wait for the main sim threads to pick up. The GM has put in nice twists to the repair work on the Atlantis thread. The thread in the Pirate lair per se is lagging some with our CO’s LOA but am sure it will pick up soon.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Like many other ships we have a case of more chiefs than indians (an expression - don’t shoot the messenger please). Activity I’ve noticed tends to depend on the pace of the sim, and that is slow at the moment - no fault of our GM. At the moment threads are a touch spotty but summer is here and I’m just back from holidays so still sussing everything out.
Who is the shining star this month? James Sinclair is everywhere. Go James!
Gamemaster: Luke Hung
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: (1) Approximately 10 days ago (game time) the Atlantis was pulled into a graviton ellipse dragging her 50,000 light years from Federation Space. A ship carrying at least one crew member who identified himself as “Wayne ‘The Rock’ Gretzky” and is known by the local inhabitants of the region as the ‘Great One’ was also traveling in the ellipse and ‘rescued’ the Atlantis by pulling her from the ellipse before it traveled even further from the Federation.
The damage was extreme from the ellipse… including hull, electronic, warp, and other systems. One power conduit burned a vertical hole through four decks of the ship. Since your arrival you came to a Neutral Diplomacy star base, known as Base 5. While there, one party of the ship lost their tricorder and phaser and during the subsequent search for the weapon, security personnel and officers, stunned local ‘purple and gold safety officers’ leading to a stand off with the Base itself.
Currently the ship pursued a pirate carrier that attacked a freighter into a asteroid field. Following a long negotiation repairs of the Atlantis has occurred, with both sides being particularly cautious. Although so far nothing significant has occurred.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?
FComm’s Comments: Ship looks healthy. Everyone is engaged and Sim is going strong.
Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul
How is your ship looking overall? We are okay. We could be better. I think if I can get a CMO, CNS, CAG and Batallion commander that will round things out nicely and give people just more individuals to interact with. It wouldn’t hurt to snag a few JOs as well.
I think we’re all in the midst of summer and wanting to spend time outdoors (or in my case hide from the record-setting heat going down in British Columbia at the moment). However, I really think just a few extra faces on the roster will help keep people green.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I’m currently enjoying the Socialising threat that Kieron Hoult’s began. Great way to keep people posting!
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I need to fill my DH vacancies as priority number one. Priority two will be JO positions.
Executive Officer: AJ Paulson
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We just added a slew of DHs
Rusty our new CoS, Lori our CNS , and Kieron our CSO are all active within the 3 day posting limit.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? All our JOs are active.
Who is the shining star this month? Gene Gibbs
Our brilliant GM has given the Chimera a sim that is sure to have our hands full for quite some time. It’s incredible to see how Gene comes up with a story to get everyone involved together.
Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Having arrived at Plouton 9 Mining Station, the Chimera has been in touch with the Administrator, Jane Hardiman, who outlined a number of tasks that the Chimera could undertake. Security has beamed down to investigate the murder site accompanied by David Stone, Chief Foreman. He has escorted some to the incarceration center to question the primary suspect, Willis Kramer. Willis was the deputy to the sheriff who was killed and is currently with the XO and Mason Larden in a briefing. Engineering has been in contact with Walter Niven, Maintenance chief, regarding the transport of the bulk replicators the Chimera ferried over. They have delivered them and are now looking at installing them on site. The Captain is investigating pirate activity and last known information about the Shogun for further investigation and has learned some details regarding a ship graveyard, ostensibly called the ‘boneyard’. The CSO has taken a shuttle to the boneyard and is investigating it and the two probes that the Shogun had left there. The flight crew has launched to escort the convoy of ships out of the Scar to the Transfer Station outside of the nebula. While clearing a blockade of asteroids, an old mine has attached to the vessel doing the clearing. The fighters are investigating this and how to rectify this potential emergency while one wing has left there to join up with the CSO at the boneyard.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Not me .. I was on holidays for what would be a week and ended up almost two before being caught up here.
FComm’s Comments: Ship looks healthy. Everyone seems active and involved in the Main Sim.
Commanding Officer: No report submitted
Executive Officer: Ben Z
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have successfully finished our main sim, which means that it’s time for the in-between side-sims to commence! The DHs have been doing a great job of this so far, and these threads are always fun because they give opportunities for cross-department interactions and character building. We are still looking for a CE, newly need a CNS, and other DH opportunities may be available soon as well, so if you are interested in a spot please don’t hesitate to contact us!
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have no JOs and at the moment we’re just trying to fill our DH roster to be honest… we’re looking forward to welcoming JOs when we are ready for them.
Who is the shining star this month? H Levi Smiley as Lt. Belle Harper has breathed new life into the ship with a very intriguing character that I am looking forward to getting to know!
Gamemaster: James Sinclair
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The sim concluded successfully. The Julian Echo station was freed from the temporal fid and the alien vessel, the Lidrien people, and everyone involves saved and accounted for. The crew even managed to make the situation into a successful First Contact scenario.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? O don’t believe any one player was more important in getting the sim concluded than any other. From the Command staff to the DH’s and JO’s; the VAST majority of the crew was helpful in getting us across the finish line. I believe the Dresden as a whole deserves the credit for making the sim a success.
FComm’s Comments: Joana had an excused absence from this month’s report as she and I have been chatting on emails and she has been down from her first covid vaccination. She is adding a new member to the crew next week and will get caught up on her own posting then. I think I might make a character to do some jumpstarting and engage people between sims. Currently with James being done with the Main Sim, I see Dresden struggling but I am positive we can work to make Dresden come back alive.
Commanding Officer: No report submitted
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: Geoff Joosten
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Ogawa has been order to take medical supplies to a former Romulan planet, more or less abandoned since the collapse of the empire. On the way there, following them, are a camera crew led by the enigmatic Golfink and his long suffering assistant Preem. The expectation is to get all of the crew to give some sort of interview before the end of the sim.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? It has been a rough month for the Owie with lots of LOAs and AWOLs (Myself included, or myself in particular) so the sim kind of stalled, but I am hoping July is better and we get some traction under us.
FComm’s Comments: Cale has been injured and is still hit or miss on time spent here. Also Linds has been struggling as well. Technically neither is excused, but I am willing to give a bit of leeway this month. Ship is healthy. Sim is going strong.
Commanding Officer: Adam W.
How is your ship looking overall? This was the most active month we’ve had in a while, largely thanks to Kate, Steven, and Christopher. The main sim keeps inching along. We need to find these fragments and then we’ll have a tough decision to make once we do.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Spotlight: Tyra had to step down from most of her ships, including the Outpost. She was the only member of the crew on the roster longer than me, so I don’t even know how many years she played Paige on the Outpost. Really dependable players have helped me keep this going as long as I have, and Tyra was as dependable as anyone.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’ve been busy the past few weeks, so I need to get plugged back in. There’s a couple AWOL issues to address and now a vacant CMO position to fill.
Executive Officer: Kate O’Neill
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DH’s are all posting and participating in a side sim or the main sim. The main sim is moving along nicely with all the pieces of the puzzle now sliding into place to give us a clear picture about how to send everyone back to where they belong. The DH’s are also in at least one side sim working on character development pieces that give us a glimpse of their life out of uniform.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We don’t have many JO’s but of the ones we do have they are participating in a few character development threads that are fun to read.
Who is the shining star this month? The shining star this month is Christopher Logan. He is doing a fun side sim about fixing a replicator that has been amazing to be able to post with him.
Gamemaster: No report submitted
FComm’s Comments: Everything looks okay on the station. AWOLS need to be addressed but it looks like the CO and XO are on it. GM did not submit a report. Ill make sure to poke him a little more next month.
FCOMM OVERALL COMMENTS: Pioneer Fleet looks good. Dresden is struggling a bit, but overall, the people they have are awesome and is passion is there. This was my first month as Fcomm and still am getting my legs in the game. I am curious what our scale of measure is for health of the ship. A lot of reports had ship health stats at a 10 across the board, but I wouldn’t rate it as such. It’s something I am going to investigate further. Cale is excused from her report this month due to her injury. Apologies that my own submission was a tad late. I was waiting on some responses before I went ahead and compiled.Go back to the list
