The Meridian Fleet Report - June 2021

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

How is your ship looking overall? Well we were looking great but June has slowly backed off. Mostly the LOA’s have impacted the play. The sim has what is necessary to move us along but I feel the slow posting due to LOAs and just not everyone really getting into the play has impacted us.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Just the side sim back in the crew lounge. The back and forth.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. Its seeing players not just answer the post before them or the GM’s next post but to create banter in between. I will be posting some examples in a thread to lead the way.

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Last month we had three heavy AWOLs and one DH on an extended leave so they are a little behind. The wave of emails seems to have brought all of them back save the Counselor which we should probably remove and replace.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Junior officers are all pretty much in compliance.

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: With 67 posts for the month of June and fair engagement with the main sim as well as side sims, we are facing a few AWOLS but nothing worrying so far.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Trinity Fister

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?June began rocky but ended up being an active, fruitful month for Chernov’s DHs. We acquired a new CMO in Kieron Hoult, and Christopher Logan’s character switched from helm to engineering (thereby filling our CE vacancy). Their embarkment leaves one vacant DH position, which is a vast improvement from the past months. SIM-wise, all of Chernov’s DH team got involved in the new MainSIM, and many have entertained SideSIMs. I’m excited to see what July brings!

Note: we are short a Weapons Officer. If you’re interested or have any questions, please feel free to reach out!

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Due to IRL issues and some LOAs, the start of the period was relatively quiet. Mid-June brought us a handful of new faces, including new STFers Allison Hanna (Ens. Umbri Zayne) and Richard A (Ens. Kastarak). Both hit the ground running and puffed some life into the ship with their brilliant characterization. With the impending return of the others, I anticipate July with be an active, perhaps eventful month for the JOs. I cannot wait!

Who is the shining star this month? Hjortur Ingi plays our brilliant, down-to-Earth CSO/2O. His posts are always deliberate and insightful and an absolute joy to read. I especially love when his character goes into ‘lecture mode’ and gives everyone a run for their credits. (Example: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/chernov/posts/141439/)

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: 170 posts in June is wonderful and only a couple AWOL I’m happy with how the Chernov is going. There looks to be a good balance between the crew’s side sims and general engagement with the main sim.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The Odin was fairly slow this month with 55 posts, and the lack of any reporting has me worried. A low AWOL rate is refreshing and the command staff is present and posting.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Similar to the Odin, the Saracen has been slow this month at 59 posts and the lack of reports is bothersome. As both ships share command staff I’m hoping this isn’t the pattern for the rest of the term.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: J Ridgley

How is your ship looking overall? The ship is looking stable, we haven’t really lost any crew members and we have been able to recruit some interested parties. I have had some LOA issues myself due to hospital which has made it difficult to remain ontop of things but I hoping in the coming months we will see a steady incline of posts and crew members.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I haven’t been around most of this month, due to be on LOA so it would be unfair for me to comment however the main Sim has been my main attraction.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I wont to improve the crew size and posting amount, id like to see us become more active towards the main story and progress and even perhaps finish the sim.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: 89 posts for the month of June and a few missing reports, from the XO and GM, but the ship is doing well. I mirror Jake’s comments about stability and know that the Sentinel is on the upswing.

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: Jennifer Ward

How is your ship looking overall? Over all this month has been slow. With the end of school and the start of summer, middle of winter for some, there have been several LOAs. No AWOLs this month and that is such a huge improvement from a couple of months ago. Because of the LOAs the sim has slowed down, but as everyone is returning things are starting to pick back up.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Brian Richards is playing our Chief of Security, Eldorin Asam. He has joined his wife, the CO, in her new position, but he has many commitments back at home. And it gives him no end of anxiety. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/139277/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. To encourage people to get back into posting on the main sim as they return from LOA.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: he Viking has crossed paths with a large, over 800 year old starship, which appears to be unoccupied. The star-ship itself seems to be trying to communicate with the Viking using prime numbers, then a picture - word library… old school translation before the universal translator. The ship is now within transporter range and the ship seems to directing the crew to a particular room. We are still in process for boarding.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: 103 posts for June and an excused XO report as Jenn is working on finding someone new, I know that there are some AWOL’s to combat, however the Viking is in a healthy spot and when Jenn has a new XO I’m sure the command team will propel the Viking to new heights.
