The Meridian Fleet Report - July 2021

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

How is your ship looking overall? Good. We are a little slower than I like but the GM was down for RL work so it slowed us a little. Overall I would like to see more posting. We lost Tyra to RL after more years I could count as Helmsman and Intel Chief. The sim has what it takes so its just getting the fire under it.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I’m going full on egocentric here and say my thread with the Flight Wind staff. Its called “The Captain flies a Bomber”.

https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/olinski/posts/146922/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. Again a steady input from the GM and steady posting to support it by the crew.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: 96 posts for the month of July, which is on par with where the ship has been in prior months. I’ve seen the crew excited for the new sim and am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Trinity Fister

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Chernov’s DH team has done a great job inserting themselves and their departments into the rambling MainSIM. Sickbay’s prepping for conflict and casualties. Engineer and Science and labouring away for a way to detect cloaked ships. And security’s assembling for what ‘seems’ like a routine mission. All is calm, for now. ;)

July also brought a Weapons Officer in the form of Rusty Boshankles. His character, T’Kul Valharra, was promoted to Lieutenant JG and handed the mantle of leadership. Kudos, Rusty!

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our JOs were the shining stars this month. From check-ins and awkward conversations to musical get-togethers and new roomies, they’ve animated the boards with their boundless creativity. And, in some cases, their humour too. We did experience a slight lull in late July, but with the impending returns from LOA and AWOL, I don’t doubt August will see another great bout of posting.

Who is the shining star this month? Allision Hanna hit the ground running with Chernov’s newest Ensign, Umbri Zayne. Fresh from the Academy and ready to take on the cosmos, Umbri is witty, humble and endlessly enthusiastic for her new role. I love the authenticity Allision has woven into her character, and I’m super excited to see where this journey of self-discovery takes her!

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: With 133 posts for July with good engagement with the main sim. A couple of long LOA’s that need to be addressed however.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: The Odin, along with the rest of the club, has suffered a tremendous loss this month with Steven’s passing. Therefore it goes without saying that the command staff has been given exemption from reports.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: James Sinclair

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Saracen has received a short but panicked distress call from a civilian freighter that is on the opposite side of the Romulan / Federation Border. On approach, they have found the freighter under attack by marauding pirates. To further complicate matters, a Romulan Warbird has arrived and ordered them to leave.

Oh, did I mention it’s a Federation flagged vessel and the Romulans want to arrest everyone on board? And that the ship has been missing for 11 years?

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? The crew as a whole has been very good about posting in a timely fashion.

FComm’s Comments: 93 posts for the month of July, a good blend of main sim and side sim posts.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: J Ridgley

How is your ship looking overall? “The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.” - Chinese proverb

This month has been a tough month for the Sentinel I wont lie, we lost three members during this reporting period all due to RL commitments rather than lack of interest in the simm something which I have seen mirrored on other ships throughout the club. I will be looking to increase our ship roster aswell as promoting two of our current crew members from Junior Officers to Division heads.

I’m also looking to work with our GM to progress the current ship and introduce new ways to involve all of our crew in either the main sim directly or indirectly with side-objectives.

In regards to LOA and AWOLs we’ve had a good month for those so that is certainly one positive to take away from this reporting period. Though I consider this our weakest report since I took over I look forward to the future.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I think it will have to go to our Main-Sim Cave Entrance where we lost our first redshirt woohooo!

https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/sentinel/posts/146300/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. As previously mentioned I think this has been our weakest month especially in regards to retention, so over the next few reporting periods I hope to bring in new players.

Executive Officer: Nicole Cline

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? (This is for July, I wanted to make it up since I have been a little absent myself and I realized I never did this)

We have unfortunately lost at least one of our DHs this month, however interest in the sim does not seem to be the issue. Other DH members are still contributing.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? JOs still seem invested, we did unfortunately lose two swing role members. We are looking to increase our roster and bring our numbers back up. Posting is slow, however it seems there’s been an overall increase in IRL interference. With any luck, posting will return to its typical speed soon.

Who is the shining star this month? Instead of one specific person, I’d like to spotlight all those who have stuck with us and remained active on the ship during this admittedly difficult month for the Sentinel.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Sentinel crew are divided into three groups at present.

The ship crew are investigating the odd power losses to the Sentinel. The mining group is investigating the mines where colonists have disappeared and the second ground team is helping with injuries from the raging storm at the colony.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? J Ridgley

AFComm’s Comments: Sentinel has seen a drop in the roster due to real life time constraints, but Jake and Nicole are on top of it and I’m sure they will have their roster filled in no time. The sim has several locations for crew to get involved and despite the drop in the roster the crew seems engaged and enjoying the sim that Rob has created.

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: Jennifer Ward

How is your ship looking overall? The last month has been slow for us. Several LOAs for vacations and work and just real life in general. However the sim is moving, slower this month, but moving forward. AWOLs have been addressed, with two currently. I have spoken with both people and it just a matter of being slow returning from LOA. We have several positions open and are currently looking to fill those spots.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Jason Wolfe is my new XO and as always he has an incredible character idea and outstanding writing. His arrival is my favorite post this month: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/144459/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. Increase posting both in the main sim and encourage side -sims to allow the crew it investigate and showcase their characters.

Executive Officer: Jason Wolfe

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? While all department heads are not active as of this report, the bulk of them are engaged and active in the few threads that are in-progress. I’d like to remind everyone that the Viking is currently undergoing a restructuring during a troubling time for STF, which affects both activity and morale. All current department heads have shown an exemplary level of commitment in providing STF with some compelling stories, as well as a supportive environment for their peers.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? As the Viking is currently rebuilding its roster, there are not enough junior officers at-present to be able to report on. We are looking for players to fill these positions and remain hopeful that the ship will grow and progress in the coming months.

Who is the shining star this month? There is no far-and-away choice for a shining star this month with the main story aboard the Viking still in its opening phase. That said, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone’s determination and hard work as we cooperate in order to get this ship back on-track and active. Every contribution matters in these difficult times, and activity encourages activity. We’ve had our fair share of bumps and mistakes as we get our feet under us, but I have every confidence that the Viking will produce interesting narratives in our quaint corner of the Star Trek universe.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: 74 posts for July, on the slower end this month but steady progress is being made with character development and sims.
