The Black Fleet Report - September 2021

USS Constellation

Commanding Officer: Brian Richards

How is your ship looking overall? The Connie is holding steady, and while I’ve personally been slow to post given work, going back to school, and the kiddos being on quarantine, I’m happy to report that the ship overall is chugging along. We’ve started a new sim, and while my cat is making this hard to type as she’s constantly trying to bite my keyboard, I am looking forward to what’s in store as we move towards the more silly side, as the Connie has gotten more serious as of late .

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. The silly side of STF. The Connie should be a funny ship, and I’ll be doing my part to make it so!

Executive Officer: Matt Bongiorno

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Most of the DHs have returned from LoAs and are getting involved in side sims and the main sim as well. Trinity Fister had midterms and plans to return within the next week. Aside from her there are no DH AWOLS at all which is an improvement from the month of August.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?James Sinclair is our only JO and he has not started posting yet. I will get with him and see what his plans are for his character going forward. Recruiting for JOs will be key in October to help stimulate growth amongst the crew. Due to the Alt RPG nature of the Constellation, I have found that it can be challenging to find writers who enjoy comedy. However, they do exist out there and it will be nice to bolster our roster with additional comedic relief to accompany the current crew along with adding additional activity in the process.

Who is the shining star this month? Jennifer Ward is the shining star of the month. It is a joy to see her bring in Cassandra as her second character and to read those developing threads. As always, I am a fan of Brenna Atoded and her role as the Second Officer. She is an absolute joy to write stories with. Her lovely posts help keep the Connie active and without a doubt inspires the rest of the crew to jump in on the threads outside of the main sim.

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: We’re just about to begin a new sim. Stay tuned…

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? It was a group effort, but Jennifer Ward was big help this month.

AFComm’s Comments: I cant wait to see what that sim is.

AFComm’s Comments: They’re all excused

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

How is your ship looking overall? The ship has had some sporadic and problematic AWOL. The crew is rolling into the mission as appropriate and needed. What I think is slowing us down a little bit is that we don’t have quite the number of side sim action going on that makes a medium ship more active. The sim itself is moving pretty well so this isn’t a mission/GM issue.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.More PC we seem to be losing a few veteran players and I like to get another side sim or two going.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Genesis has discovered a pre-warp system that is under survelliance by a neighbouring warp capable system. The warp capable system, Lesscoo, seemed to be sending a few ships to claim the space as their own. They detected the Genesis and have demanded the Genesis leave. Trying diplomacy did not work and the Lesscoo are using force. The Lesscoo are technologically very much inferior to the Genesis but they do not seem to know this.

AFComm’s Comments: Very pleased with how the ship is going. Can’t wait to see hiw the Sim progresses

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

How is your ship looking overall? I didn’t post a report last month as I was on holiday. Slow posting this month and in the previous month, but still a healthy ship, and still moving forward with the Sim. While the Merrimack holds a standard orbit above the newly discovered Alstair planet, down below on the surface, the landing party has helped rescue and treat the victims of a meteorite strike, and learned that these are a frequent, if not severe, risk to the planet. If they decided to join the United Federation of Planets then they could certainly get help with ways to detect and defend against future events. Captian Glen is about to speak with the Alstairean Council again. Unfortunately, the Astaireans do not seem very enthusiastic. They are a shy race who seem afraid of the violence and threats that membership might bring them, which begs the question of why they attempted to make contact with other planets and sent out exploratory sleeper ships at all. The Merrimack has already been able to rescue of of these ships, and is now attempting the rescue of a second. The away team on this second ship has discovered that the ship’s power disruption is caused by it being drawn by a rectangular shaped object hidden inside a shipping container. They have decided to investigate. The Merrimack has some ongoing problems with long AWOLs. I have spoken with the people involved to ask them to instead post a simple LOA but I am aware that one has been seriously ill and possibly cannot. I’ve also just received notification that my long serving XO David “Jud” Bennet is stepping down and retiring permanently from STF. I will require a replacement XO asap.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The events aboard the second sleeper ship have been the most exciting https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf6/merrimack/posts/152349/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’d like a new capable and dependable XO. It is vital to the success of the ship really.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Merrimack is in a touch and go spot right now, the current XO has retired, as have a lot of others gone poof. Sim wise though we’re on the last legs and wrapping things up. Then I’m going to buckle down and help the CO as much as I can to breathe new life into the ship.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

AFComm’s Comments: I have full confidence in David to finding a new XO. I’ll get in touch with him about how to help.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: James Sinclair

How is your ship looking overall? Things are slow on the colony, but we had 89 posts and those were spread through a few players, so that is good. AWOL’s are concerning, especially the Lieutenant Governor who is gone almost a month and I have had no response from. I am very concerned there. The next few months should give everyone a lot to handle colony-wise however, and I look forward to the changes that are coming up.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The ongoing conversation between the Police Commissioner and the new Health Director is a very good read.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I want to know Sidney is ok.

AFComm’s Comments: I’m extremely thankful that Oed is under James command. The colony looks very inviting and welcoming. Keep it up

USS Olympic

Gamemaster: No report submitted

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: James Sinclair

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The only concern for DH’s is the long and unusual absence of the CE. That is most concerning.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Everyone is active as they can be, I feel. The sim has slowed somewhat due to RL issues with the GM; but he has maintained good communication and I don’t think the pace is indicative of his Sim in any way.

Who is the shining star this month? The shining star this past month I would have to say is Terry as our illustrious Captain Remy. He has been on point with making sure people know where they need to be and has been doing a good job of his IC development.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: This Wolvie crew is huge in this fleet under the watchful eyes of Terry Sullivan and James Sinclair. They work so well together on this ship. Keep it up.

The COs/XOs/GMs are active. There are a few things that are needed to be made aware of that I’ll discuss it with them on an individual basis.

There are a few unexcused missing reports that will require my intervention to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.

Ship of the Month: USS Constellation
Seeing 10s all around the board from the CO, XO, and GM is a delight. Keep it up Connie
