The Meridian Fleet Report - October 2021

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

How is your ship looking overall? Due to a personal matter that really hit me I lost track of a lot of things and posting was one of them. However I have been back for the last two weeks or so and I am back in the swing. If it wasn’t for Luke Hung , the GM and crew I am not sure what would have happened. All looks good. Posting is a little low but not bad. The sim is action packed and the battle with the Breen just ended. Exciting.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I can’t be the judge of that but reading back I would say the Bridge thread and Luke’s posting as the reluctant battle leader.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Filling out the roster, again. We need some key positions filled.

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? All DH’s are within posting limits and both the main sim and side sims are going well with the exception of our CMO who seems to be 17 or 41 days out on all of his ships. .

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? All the JO are within posting limits… so that’s something.

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Glad that Sidney is back at the helm, I have no concerns as of late.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? The ship is looking great now that I can post more frequently. We are battling the Romulans and learning about leadership.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The best this month would have to be Blaze, Lovejoy and the XO for their characters learning the ways of command and how they are dealing with internal and external strife.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. We need a GM and some more Jo’s.

Executive Officer: Trinity Fister

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Romulan attacks, annual inspections, and glorious chaos–oh my! October was a busy month for Chernov’s DH team. Commander Grey and Lieutenant T’Kul linger on the edge of battle, while Doctor Symar hastily works to set up a makeshift triage unit. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Lovejoy’s preparing the new sensor array designed to detect faint tachyon signatures. Will it work? November will tell! Activity-wise, we’ve had a few LOAs and AWOLs, but I’m confident they’ll be resolved in the next month.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?JOs have been rockstars this month! Ensign Blaze is off inspecting enemy debris for weaponisable intel. Sickbay needed someone to assume the mantle of leadership in Symar’s place, and Kastarak was in the right place at the right time. Meanwhile, Ensign Zayne’s fired up and ready to defend the Outpost and Chernov against what we assume are Romulans. There’s a lot of action waiting to happen in November, and I hope we can get the other JOs in on it too.

Who is the shining star this month? Doctor Kastarak, played by Richard A —
Richard made his return to the Chernov this month after a brief break from STF. For those who haven’t had the chance to write with him, Richard is an incredibly gifted and creative writer. I adore his prose and character development, especially regarding the deceivingly stoic Vulcan. Although he’s been aboard a short time, I’m super excited to see where his journey takes him (and Dr Kastarak)!

Check out Kastarak’s return, here: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/chernov/posts/156912/

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No concerns for the Chernov, ship is running steadily

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No reports submitted or excused

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: James Sinclair

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Sracen has crossed the border in the former territory of the Romulans while responding to a distress call from a Federation vessel. In the process of trying to make contact, they were attacked by a Romulan Warbird and defended themselves, resulting in a massive explosion of the vessel… the nature of which seemed to indicate some kind of nuclear device being detonated. The Saracen is now in communication with a Romulan Admiral who is requesting a meeting to… ‘discuss;… the matters at hand.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Terry Sullivan and Luke Hung have been consistent and solid in moving the bridge crew along and dealing with the incoming information.

FComm’s Comments: No reports filed form CO or XO

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Matt Bongiorno

How is your ship looking overall? The Sentinel had a solid month with 582 posts in October. The main sim has progressed forward as we are now entering the Abyss traveling to our the first M Class planet in the uncharted nebula. I look forward to seeing what Rob our GM and the rest of the crew bring to the table during this exciting time for the Sentinel. James Sinclair joined us in the beginning of the month and as expected he has captivated us with his writing style and ability to draw readers into the narrative. All of the crew has been mostly active with the exception of our Chief Engineer who has understandably had a tough month in real life. I look forward to seeing him a bit more active in the future when things settle down hopefully in the very near future. There are several side sim stories going on and the crew excels at taking the initiative to create threads while incorporating their fellow crewmates without any hesitation. The Sentinel is moving forward in the right direction and as always I look forward to the future as I am honored to serve as her Commanding Officer.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? There are far to many to count with Commander Alden and Ensign Farquharson’s interactions. Their posts are well written and represent some of the best writing that I have seen during my time in STF. As always, I look forward to continue reading about their character’s story along with the rest of the members of the crew. The Sentinel is stacked with wonderful writers all around and have enjoyed every minute being her Captain. However, this month Roman and Rand take home the top cumulative prize as my favorite posts on the ship this month.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I began involving more of the crew in the main sim this month, but fell slightly behind in the individual one on one interactions with each member. On November 1st, I began a series of posts that involve every member of the Sentinel crew to meet with Captain Rogers. I have a few more posts to complete, but this will get the ball rolling forward in November as I look forward to reporting the results in next month’s fleet report.

Executive Officer: Nicole Cline

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DHs are actively involved in the main sim, however, we do have a couple of awols to clear. Side Sims have slowed down somewhat as well. I think once the main sim picks up we’ll pick up in posting again.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?JOs have been running a few side Sims of their own, however side Sims have slowed down somewhat. We are making an effort to include JOs in the main sim, however I suspect we’ll see more participation once the main sim moves a little further along.

Who is the shining star this month? This month overall has been a slower one, I think everyone’s doing their best to keep things moving.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Sentinel has finally entered the Abyss! Only to quickly get lost with no clue how it happened, the crew is currently trying to figure things out and what to do from here.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Very pleased with the Sentinel, glad to see where it’ll go in the near future

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: Jennifer Ward

How is your ship looking overall? Over all the Viking is doing very well this month. October come in at 161 down just a few posts from Sept at 164. She’s holding steady despite some lag with the main sim, but that has picked up in the last week. Jason has revised the MOTD making it smoother and more reader friendly. We’ve had a few AWOLs that need to be kept up with, real life has really hit a lot of people this month. However there was only one concerning AWOL for the month and there was some difficulty requiring the assistance of our FComm mid month, but the issues seem to have resolved. I am looking forward to the next month to see what the crew makes of our Alien visitor and the strange and concerning behavior of some of the senior staff.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I really adore the crew of the Viking. They are all superior writers and create such rich stories on their own and have such creative ideas for the main sim. BUT This one thread really just exemplifies them. The captain has invited the entire senior staff to dinner, in the hopes of getting every one to relax and let go of the old Viking. So the thread is pretty full with lots of people contributing. The captain posed the question of, “Who would you want with you if you were stranded?” The XO has taken it upon himself to call out the very ancient El-Aurian captain and her husband, the CE. The amount of shade being thrown between the XO and CE is hilarious as is the rest of the staffs’ reactions to the interplay. It is worth going back to the beginning and reading the whole thing.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. We lost our CMO this month so I want to get that position filled as soon as possible. I also want to work on getting more JOs. We need them in all departments.

Executive Officer: Jason Wolfe

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? This month has shown an overall marked improvement in department head participation. Sadly, we also lost our CMO to real-life situations which has affected the progression of the main sim to some degree. AWOLs continue to be a concern, but we are working diligently to solve them as best we can and continue our posting schedule.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Though we still only have a single junior officer, she is proceeding and participating to a satisfactory degree. The staff of the Viking are currently in-process of finding other junior officers to fill the roster and get involved with available sims.

Who is the shining star this month? Jennifer Ward and Sam Haynes continue to be active participants in both service to the main sim and the exploration and development of their own characters via side sims. While I haven’t had the opportunity to read the entirety of their more-extensive and in-depth threads, it is a definite encouragement for others to create their own tales. Great job, folks!

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Viking has encountered a very old colony ship. There are strange things afoot as random crew members are acting strangely. Mostly harmless, but very pleasure seeking. Everyone wants to blame the new visitor and the dozen motes of light that circle his head. But can it be that obvious....

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Happy with the progress of the Viking, no concerns as she plugs along through space.
