The Pioneer Fleet Report - October 2018

USS Athena

Commanding Officer: Lindsay Bayes

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: While our overall post count isn’t particular high or even average for the Athena, the quality of the posts has been exceptional. The sim is reaching the climax of both the action and emotion and the stakes are very high. In each thread there is something dramatic going on and I give high praise to Ian for responding in such a way as to keep things moving but still give people the opportunity to do character development. What would improve things overall is a general increase in meaningful side sims but I think most people are waiting to see the fallout from the sim.

Spotlight: Right now I’m most impressed with everyone who is invested in the sim and making really poignant posts. These threads are amazing to read and I’m a very proud CO!

Sim Overview: Important Threads/Posts:
Athena’s Sacrifice https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/804/
Triage on the planet. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/4276/
Security Threat. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/4351/
Conversations with Forever https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/5885/
The Final Showdown? https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/966/

The Counter Strike Agent Pierce has been dealt with by the team that travelled back to the past, and the device used to destroy the Athena has been neutralised. However back in time the Counter Strike ship still exists and is still a real and present threat to the Athena’s survival which if not dealt with will mean that the timeline will reset…

Leaving those in the past licking their wounds after managing to stop the Counterstrike aliens attempt to get through the time portal at great loss of life and limb. Right at the last when it seemed that despite their efforts one of the aliens was going to succeed in getting through the portal a strange yet familiar being exited the portal of the Guardian of Forever and stopped said alien from entering. The security teams escape pod induced plasma storm has wiped out many of the alien Counter Strike crew but it has yet to be seen whether or not there are survivors who will attempt to get through the portal again.

Also yet to be seen is whether or not the Guardian of Forever has survived the plasma blast…

Spotlight: Kudos to Jeremy who let me use his character storyline to further the sim in unexpected ways. Also to Tony for his excellent work in engineering. Finally Luke who’s innovation and dry sense of humour has added a great deal to the action and suspense. Great job all round Athena Crew, it’s taken much coffee to keep ahead of your efforts.

FComm’s Comments: The Athena crew is doing very well with their posting this month. In September they posted 125 times which is within the limits of a 3/5/7 speed ship. Keep up the good work guys!

USS Atlantis

Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The Ship is doing well after several bouts of LOA’s and real-life issues causing unexpected AWOL’s. That being said the crew was able to keep posting within expected levels. The new sim is progressing nicely and we can’t wait to see what happens when you touch the probe: boom or surprise! We shall soon see.

Ship Status: A good solid month for the Atlantis! Things are settling back in after the summer and the sim is moving along. We’ve had some recent additions to the crew and that always helps to generate activity. I’m looking forward to seeing how the sim progresses and how the various side sims continue.

FComm’s Comments: The Atlantis crew did a remarkable job posting this month with 181 posts in the month of Septemeber. This is slightly higher than the average for a 3/5/7 level posting ship. Great job guys. Keep it up!

USS Dresden

Commanding Officer: Jerome Davis

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: After a series of difficult events this month that affected both myself and my XO, we both have finally returned to full posting at the beginning of October. I hate that personal issues had such a slowing effect on storyline but I’m proud of the crew for keeping things moving. We are excited to see the start of Kenson’s new sim in the coming month following the completion of the current sim.

Spotlight: The whole crew for their amazing work in mine and Joana’s absence this month. You guys are awesome and the Dresden is lucky to have each of you!

September saw the close of a fantastic DH’s time on the Dresden as we say so long and thanks for all the fish to our wonderful outgoing CE, Janice B. Effective October 1st, Chief Engineering duties shift to David Bennett. The Command Staff congratulates David on his selection as CE.

Executive Officer: Joana Ribeiro

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: September was a rough month for the Dresden as RL took both me and Jerome away from our duties. However, I was tremendously impressed to see the crew keeping on posting regularly and keeping the ship afloat. Now that both me and Jerome are back I am hoping to see the Dresden return to its usual self.

Spotlight: The whole crew for keeping the ship going as Jerome and me went through some rough times.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Dresden answered a distress call from a freighter. The strange thing was that the freighter had only two men in their whole ship of about 30. The two men were also very ill. After investigations, it was concluded that there were three women who were responsible for the deaths of the male crew. The three women were rescued from a ship that was adrift by the the freighter. Slowly the men in the freighter died. It was discovered that the women were actually feeding on the neural energy of the men. With women, they did not feed but were able to control their minds.

This month: Starfleet Security ship, USS Waterloo, have orders to transport the three women to a planet with an island full of animal life but isolated from the rest of the planet. Starfleet intends to study the individuals to discover where they were from and how Starfleet can help them.

FComm’s Comments: The Dresden crew posted slightly less than the expected rate for posting this month with 70 posts for September. Still, they did have several threads with a lot of activity and the main sim was actively being posted to. I am very happy to see that if posts were being made it was to the main sim and not heavy on side sims which can often be the case when the content of posts are scrutinized. To the crew of the Dresden, thank you for taking the time to appreciate all the work the GM does for your ship and participating in the story Kenson is creating for you. Thank you, Kenson for making a story that is amazing for your crew. Keep up the great work guys.

USS Ogawa

Commanding Officer: Cale Reilly

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: The Gastropod sim is now at an end and we are almost ready to do a bit of side simming and character development and shuffling before the next sim starts. I like the idea of this I’m transition from the last and hopefully we will have more activity as we get busy building the new clinic.

Moving forward as a ship we really need to ensure that we are reading and responding to main sim threads as this will make it much easier for the GM and the sim to progress and is not something we are all good at myself included.

Spotlight: Loving the posts by our new XO Julia and our Chief of staff Brandon. Always fun to read. Kate again makes things interesting with Ally. Good all round and hopefully more to come!

FComm’s Comments: The Ogawa was the super starship of posting in September with a whopping 248 posts. The crew did an amazing job this month posting at least twice the normal expected posting level rate. Congrats guys.

Outpost 42

Commanding Officer: Adam W.

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: A slower month for the Outpost similar to August. The biggest thing in September is bring on Liam as the new GM. I actually haven’t read most of his posts yet, but it looks like he’s been staying active, which I’m thrilled about.

I think I’ve only managed one in character post since September 19th due to personal reasons. That’s stalled some threads I was in and I haven’t been able to fully address the current AWOL’s yet. One of those is because of the disappearing post issue in early October.

Spotlight: Honestly I haven’t been paying enough attention lately to give out a spotlight. People are still hanging in there and posting, which is awesome.

Executive Officer: Kate O’Neill

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The Outpost has a new sim that started this month. There are activities abound in the hangar bay and a medical emergency on a nearby planet in the system. Jessica quelled a dispute with an old-fashioned line down the room to separate the disgruntled traders who were acting like teen twin girls sharing a bedroom. In sickbay, medical is receiving patients from the USS Cytotoxic. Due to the name of the ship, the XO has requested everything is hosed down with bleach and staff follows the Gel in Gel out protocol with hand sanitizer. Jessica and Evie are still working to get the loveable cousins to the planet surface for some old-fashioned family fun. Yes, the women have decided the men will have fun on this trip or they will all die trying. Kudos to Chandel for deciding to help with a cranky Klingon patient and to Toveka for deciding to practie her little-used phlebotomy skills.

Spotlight: The ship is doing well and having a great time with the main sim created by our very own Liam Schoepp aka Crazy Cog. He is creating something for everyone to do and has a really interesting time doing so. That is why the spotlight shines so bright on him this month. Keep it up!

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Posting was within expectations this month with 96 posts in September for a 5/7/10 speed ship. While it had been higher at times, September presented the crew with several real-life issues, the beginning of the school year, and a national holiday. At a glance, most people seem to have a place to RP and are enjoying themselves. Keep up the great work guys!
