The Foremost Fleet Report - January 2022

USS Ark Angel

Commanding Officer: Robert Archer

How is your ship looking overall? Overall the Ark Angel is in good shape. We had some bumps with LOA/AWOLs but we’re weathering the storm well. Part of the problem was my own fault with having time taken up by my own life limiting sim progress and management of the ship. But overall I’m still happy with where the ship is at and we made great strides in getting the ship’s new players from last month engaged and up to speed on things.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Improvements I’d like to make are mostly in the mentoring area with new crew, nothing major though.

Executive Officer: Sam Pennington

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DHs maintain a reasonable amount of activity. I haven’t had to send out any AWOL notices in 2022 and that’s always good.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?A couple are on LOA, but for the most part we have a really active crew. Something to be proud of.

Who is the shining star this month? Our new CNS, D Grisham.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: For the sim there are two groups, the first group is an away team lead by the XO aboard the Synthesis, who are slowly breaking up into assigned areas to investigate the oddities going on with the Synthesis within the Barrens. On this ship the engineering team has found some kind of odd slime which as suddenly as it appeared vanished without a trace! Medical has begun their own checks on the crews health, while currently the remainder of the team is on their way to the ship’s armory.

Aboard the Ark Angel the science and medical personnel have thoroughly examined how the Synthesis could be here with no trouble, as well as dive neck deep into unraveling the mysteries of the Barrens itself. Medical joining them on scans it seems found an anomaly on the Synthesis’s computer core that seemed organic in nature, but like the slime it was there one second then gone the next! Also aboard the Angel the ship’s security team is patrolling the ship looking for any issues.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

AFComm’s Comments: Coming in with 145 posts, that’s an average of almost five posts per day. The Ark Angel seems to be plugging and chugging along with only ha few bumps in the road due to AWOLs. With the ship seemingly healthy and everybody busy, I can find no fault. The Ark Angel, as always proves to be an exemplar of the First Fleet. Looking forward to the next thirty days.

Fleet Awards:

Starship Trooper Nominee: CNS, D Grisham

USS Asimov

Commanding Officer: Sam Pennington

How is your ship looking overall? Last month experienced a bit of a slowdown. Our illustrious GM was indisposed for a while, and the XO has been similarly out. But we carry on and the boards were never empty. So I’d say the ship is doing well.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. I certainly hope everyone will be back in good shape to post more regularly next month.

Executive Officer: No report submitted - not excused

Gamemaster: No report submitted - excused for necessary LOA.

FComm’s Comments: The ship, despite slow downs is still active with no long outstanding AWOLs. The XO and GM have been out due to personal circumstances. I’ve reached out to Sam to see if he needs anything.

XO report: missing not exempt

GM report: exempt

Fleet Awards: No nominations made

SS Bonaventure

Commanding Officer: Melissa Aragon

How is your ship looking overall? We’re doing good. Posts are up a twitch. AWOL and LOAs are under control. Looking forward to the sim wrapping up. Time for some parties and promotions.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I’m just thankful we came thru the holidays fairly unscathed lol
All the writers are doing great and I don’t have anything specific to standout.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Want to pick up posting counts and then hopefully start seeing more individual side Sims for character building.

Executive Officer: No report submitted - not excused

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The sim is literally (I hope!) on its last legs and will finish (I hope!) sometime this month. The Bonnie crew planetside have deactivated the strange powerful alien device trapping them here. They have since returned to the surface. Ship side, the bridge team began scans of the planet for any anomalies, and the engineering team did work on the ship itself. The Captain and XO meanwhile had a lengthy chat with their two alien guests and once the power system on the planet was shut down agreed to return both to their planet with supplies that could be spared. But the most interesting advance this last month was that upon shutting down the alien power plant on the planet, and even more powerful massive diamond shaped alien structure revealed itself above the planet’s northern pole and seems to be one massive sensor/comm array platform for someone/unknown purpose!

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: The Bonnie looks good for the month. It’s encouraging to see that the posting has increased and the crew is engaged in the sim. Rob is doing an excellent job, providing an engaging sim for the entire crew.

XO report: missing not exempt

Fleet Awards: No nominations made

USS Leviathan

Commanding Officer: Matt Evans

How is your ship looking overall? Overall things are going well. There has been a bit of a lull in activity as of late. For myself in particular I had to LOA for a couple of weeks due to RL reasons and my XO is on LOA due to getting married. Congrats on that Jake.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Perhaps I’m a bit biased but I’ve been enjoying the dinner between Conrad and Juliet. It’s been a good way to kind of ease into the ship in an unofficial capacity in character before taking command.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. I’m hoping to get the activity back up during this next month.

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Exempt. Congratulations to Jake on his wedding!

Gamemaster: No report submitted - self-sim ship

AFComm’s Comments: J Ridgely is on LOA at this time. XO report not filed, excused.
GM report not filed, excused. Self-sim ship.

With only 66 posts in the last thirty days, the Leviathan is averaging just a little over 2 posts per day. While this is acceptable, we are noticing a little more red on the roster than we’d like. Mr Evans seems to have plans in the work to increase activity, and we’re looking forward to it. She’s such a unique ship. If you’re a fan of anything like SCP, the BPRD, or MIB, this is perhaps a good place to try something like that out, in Trek.

In space, no one can hear you scream. Walk softly and carry a phaser rifle.

Fleet Awards:

Starship Trooper Nominee: Conrad (CO Matt Evans) and Juliet (Sec Melissa Aragon) .

USS Manhattan

Commanding Officer: No report submitted - exempt for necessary LOA

Executive Officer: Jennifer Ward

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DHs are all super active and it’s wonderful to see after the lull over the holidays. Gene has brought us a brand new sim that has everyone hopping and adding information in and out. Side sims are steadily picking back up as well as everyone finds their flow again.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have a shortage of JOs at the moment, but we have an abundance of DHs due to a lot of swings. That said out of our two JOs we have one who is active but just took an LOA and the other is AWOL. Hopefully with the increase in activity and the holiday sluggishness gone, we will see an increase in both activity here and new JOs added to the roster.

Who is the shining star this month? Gene Gibbs. After a break to recharge he has come back with guns blazing and really just rocking the introduction to our new sim. The crew is really enjoying the new sim and engaging with the clues and bread crumbs he is leaving us. Even when we make incorrect assumptions. LOL

Gene is also a great writer and story teller so it’s really worth the read. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/manhattan/posts/163406/

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The sim opened up mid month, called Changing Times. While in the midst of a rather tedious Fleet seminar with the principle officers a sudden, if mild, wave struck the ship, cutting off the fleet transmission and upsetting the crew’s equilibriums some. A close call with a large asteroid that had not been their before further confused the situation. What was more, on the bridge, one NE Jackson was found dead. A scan showed his death to be that of heart disease of advanced age. Some in the crew noted age related symptoms, if much smaller. The ship was not immune - with thousands of routine preventative maintenance issues showing to be overlooked.

Scans of the area showed stellar changes, however they did not appear to have moved at all but were in the same position. No fleet buoys, transmissions or other familiar things were detected in the region. Investigations continue ..

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? The core crew has all been really good sports and not shaved the Wookiee for messing with their characters. Kudos and thanks to them, but I’m still hiding their razors.

AFComm’s Comments: Currently the Manhattan has had 93 posts in the last thirty days, maintaining an average over 3 posts per day. Not bad overall. The ship is moderately healthy, and a new sim just started. Some crew will be leaving, but I hear it in the works that we will have others rotating in. Word is the CO is recovering from Covid but getting better, day by day, and we should be in much better straits within the next thirty days.

Fleet Awards:

Dungeon Master Nominee: Gene Gibbs

USS Memorial

Commanding Officer: Kirt Gartner

How is your ship looking overall? We are working on repopulating the ship and getting posts flowing like water! we are also working on finishing up the MOTD refit we just got a new XO and are doing ok

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.

Executive Officer: No report submitted - exempt no XO for the Month of January. Welcome aboard to Nick as the new XO!

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Starfleet received a distress signal from an abandoned base on the planet Eridion. The USS Memorial was dispatched to investigate. Despite finding no outward signs of life, they have found signs of activity, as yet unexplained.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? I would give joint credit to Melissa Aragon and Steve Johnson. The whole crew has stepped up to be active participants, and it’s been a real help to me.

FComm’s Comments: Kirt has had several goals and has been working on all of them actively. I am glad to see that Memorial has a new XO. Welcome aboard Nick! There are a couple of AWOLs that are concerning but I’m sure Kirt and Nick will have it well in hand.

XO report: exempt - no XO for month of January

Fleet Awards:

Ship of the Month Nominee: Memorial has a new XO and has been actively working on filling their roster. And all reports (for filled positions during January) have been filled.

Starship Trooper Nominee: Melissa Aragon and Steve Johnson

Overall the fleet looks to be doing well. There are, not even a handful, of AWOLs that are at a high number, but I am confident that the command teams are aware and have a plan for them. Excused reports have been marked as well as unexcused reports. Reminders were sent out on the 5th to give everyone time to get them in. Reminders went out to the same handful of command staff this month as last month. I am evaluating if an additional reminder needs to be made either on the 1st of the month or perhaps again on the 9th.

Fleet Awards:
The Boat that Rocks - Ship of the Month - USS Memorial for their hard work in recruiting a new XO and actively recruiting for positions, having their reports filed, and continued work on the MOTD
The Golden Pen - Most Posts - USS Ark Angel with 155 posts for January
Starship Trooper - Player of the Month - D Grisham, CNS, USS Ark Angel
Dungeon Master - GM of the Month - Gene Gibbs, GM, USS Manhattan
