The Black Fleet Report - October 2018

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Janice B.

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: During the Main Sim, a security breach occurs in the Europa’s computers. Avik suggests having their engineers look at it while the Captain orders the ship into orbit parking. They are informed it has happened before on the starbase as the ‘hacker’ mysteriously investigates the ship’s recipes then it suddenly vanishes.

Shortly after things check out, the CO and XO are beamed down into the base in order to meet with the Admiral.

In the Side Sim’s corner, Zora sent out an invite to a musical experience to everyone and should be a fun experienced for those that join. Meanwhile, Avik is having a zero-gravity climbing session with her old counselor in Zero-Gravity Therapy.

Spotlight: None

Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 3

Sim Overview: The sim is proceeding slowly. The Europa experienced a security breach in it’s computer systems. An unknown attacker wanted the recipe of Crewman Jameson grandmothers chicken noodle soup. The CO and XO are set to meet with Admiral Mcginnis at Starbase 51 to discuss their deep space assignment. The CMO and Ensign Abrams just learned from an alien at a bar that the aliens family was killed in an attack by unknown attackers. Could these attackers be the same ones who wanted the recipe for chicken noodle soup?

Spotlight: N/A

AFComm’s Comments: The Europa could use some more Junior Officers for sure. I’ll be keeping an eye on the Europa as we get further along in October and into November. My suspicion is that once things really get into the nitty gritty sim wise, we will see more activity.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: The ship is pulling along in a first contact type scenario. It seems to be pretty straight forward for now. We will see. The crew and the senior officers are posting well, as usual, and I look forward to some twists and turns.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Genesis has been tasked to explore the still uncharted space in the Alpha Quadrant. They had come into contact with two ships that were warp capable but were using nuclear energy to power their ships. Technologically speaking, the inhabitants of the system were still way behind the Federation. This was a first contact situation.

This month:

The meeting with the Pallas Admiral goes on rather slowly. CSO (who has a knowledge of the future) is keeping mum regarding these people. CNS (a Betazoid) is sensing desperation but not duplicity.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: The Genesis, as usual, is chugging along well enough. I don’t see any mentionable concerns at the moment. No report from Julia it seems, but I’m unaware if she was LOA during the time of the reports. I’ll work to be more on top of that in the future.

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The current Sim has finished. As a mother alien Serpent was about to attack the landing party, the planet exploded, leaving the team inside a force field bubble from which we were rescued. The posting level is improving now following a lot of leaves of absence.

Spotlight: No one stood out above anyone else this month. the usual teamwork was in evidence.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: The Ark Angel and Merrimack crossover sim is in its final moments and I expect it to wrap up fully in the next week at most or so. Event wise the third planet the Merrimack team were on exploded with them inside it with the Mother Serpent due to the combined work of the red matter torpedoes and Kord’s local space bomb. The Serpent Mother and its young have vanished seemingly transported away by some means that no one investigated (hint to future sim!) the team has then returned to the Merrimack and after a decon scan returned to duty. On the Merrimack and Ark Angel the battle with the Serpents ended with the bombs and torpedoes going off destroying the enemy ships and seemingly to kill the enemy Serpent boarding party on the Ark Angel. Both ships are now wrapping things up in a comm call. As a ship status for the Ark Angel things have been a little rough this past month due to crew leaving, loas, or awols, including my own and the XO at a brief point for a few days but we are now recovering well enough I think and after some talking I feel I am back on track to get the Ark Angel back on track itself.

Spotlight: The Merrimack has been doing great this month I think and everyone should get the spotlight.

AFComm’s Comments: It was good to see some pick up after the LOAs. I think overall the seemed to go well! Kudos to Rob for balancing out that multi-ship sim! :) At times I’m sure its rough, but he appears to have handled it well.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Oed is not in bad shape, but we do have some sparse posting here and there. I decided to put a hold on my PRSIM for a bit to give everyone the chance to simply write things just pertaining to their character. I really wanted to see other character development going on. I’ve seen some improvement, but as life gets pretty hectic, so does posting in STF. Overtime is dwindling down so I may yet have time for more activity on Oed. But as of right now, I’d say we are ok. Not our best by any means, but certainly nowhere near the worst.

Spotlight: I’d like to highlight everyone who took the opportunity to post with their character in a thread that only they were involved in. We’ve had a lot of interaction between characters, and after I felt maybe we needed to have some practice with threads we aren’t involved in, I was happy to see the responsiveness. Thank you to all of you who did that!

Executive Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Oed is doing well. I do have worries about the AWOLs but that seems a cycle like pattern with the colony. Anthony, Trinity and I have discussed some options to get some crew writing more detailed posts. Also we went over the PRISMs again to see where we are lacking and what to do. So maybe more action is needed in those areas. Strange as it is Oed is not doing badly despite the AWOLs.

Spotlight: It has to go to Anthony who is working hard to get the MOTD info updated and establish a more concrete recorded history for OED.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: September was decent. We do still have a lot that we are talking about behind the scenes. I am hoping that posting picks up more for October, but we will see. Overall, Oed isn’t in bad shape.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: A bit of a slowdown for September as we had some LOA’s around the ship. We’ve had one (now possibly two) murders on the ship and we’re no closer to figuring out the first one. The ship’s computer also seems to have changed its’ personality, to what ends, I’m not sure. All sorts of mysteries abound aboard the Olympic!!! And to make things all the more confusing, it appears we have some shapechangers aboard. That’s enough to make a preacher swear in church, on Sunday!!!

Whatever the case may be, the indomitable crew of the Olympic will figure this wickedness out, or we’ll die trying. (Hopefully, it doesn’t come to that.)

I’m looking forward to seeing where this mystery is going!!!

Spotlight: Have to shine a spotlight on Gene Gibbs, our CE. Though I have counted the number of posts, it is clear to me that Gene is one of our most consistent posters, keeping different threads moving along during the slowdown of September. Gene has also done a great job of using NE’s in the engineering department. I’ve always enjoyed Gene’s sims while he GM’s and have been enjoying playing a crew member alongside him. Keep up the great posting, Gene!!!

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: D was LOA and is excused. The ship appears to have their hands full. And posting is abounding, even despite the LOAs. No issues here.

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Transporters are going haywire!! Crew members DNA is getting mixed up. Something is happening to the CNS and XO as they’ve both doubled over in pain on the bridge!!! The CE hates everybody!!!

Whew!! Where to start–finally we’ve gotten some info from one of the merchants one the station. He passed along some coordinates to meet. Only problem is that most of the crew is working through issues. CNS, XO, COS, CSO may all be out of action for a while. The medical staff and science staff will be busy trying fix everybody. Meanwhile, the CE is trying to figure how the Away Teams DNA got mixed up in transport. Who does that leave to solve the problem? You’re little old Cajun Captain, that’s who!!

Who ever said being a captai was easy. In a side sim, he’s got problems of his own to deal with. Are little blue pulls still available in the future??

A couple of LOA’s kinda slowed things up a bit during September, but it appears things are picking back up.

Spotlight: I have to give a nod to Lindsay Bayes, the ship’s counselor. Besides, all of the positions she has held and continues to hold over the years, plus the fact that she’s a great writer, I honestly feel that Lindsay plays a perfect counselor. Her threads with patients are always well developed and thought-provoking. She does a great job of helping others develop their characters through her psych interviews.

Any ship that has Linds aboard is lucky to have her!!

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: Ray is on LOA and is therefore excused. No report from Jason though. Overall the Wolverine seems to be doing quite well with a lot happening…basically everywhere! I like the crew in particular. A very well rounded group of RPers who are doing great! No worries here, aside from missing reports.

AFComm’s Final Notes: Overall Black Fleet is doing well. Things got a bit crazy hectic for me and I had to push a lot of writing off to the side due to needs at work. That being said, I apologize for this report getting in late. Next month should be better.

-Tony
