The Meridian Fleet Report - April 2022

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Posts are down, but the DHs are staying with in AWOL limits for the most part. So that’s good? They sim is moving slowly, again I think its the very close to limit posting going on and to be honest part of it has everything to do with my sporadic posting this month. Real like has been kicking my @ss and I don’t know if I’ve knocked out 4 posts this month and that’s not great for the XO. I’ll do better.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No idea why no CO or GM reports. Olinski seems to be slowing down but still managing. Will be following up with CO on things they want to accomplish this month.

No nominees for awards

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? My ship was doing well the first part of the month and dropped in the second half. I take full responsibility on that because of my schedule. It was not fair to the awesome crew.

We are now progressing in the new SIM and will be taking part in a little bit of Piracy! Aaarrrgggg!

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? My favorite moment is when the amazing crew of the Chernov, pushed to keep their beloved ship from being decommissioned and the vast amounts of character building that is being done. Our ship is so much richer with quality crew it makes me want to cry!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. The XO and I talked about recruiting, retention, and posting to the crew and have came up with some ideas. This is OUR ship, not my ship!

We need more JO’S.

Executive Officer: Trinity Fister

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? We’ve had a few AWOLs and LOAs in the DH staff, most of which have been resolved, and we’ve seen some involvement in Main and SideSIMs. This has been an ongoing trend that we’ll need to investigate more closely this month. Fortunately, we’ve started a more structured and engaging MainSIM this month, and I’m hoping to see more DH involvement throughout May.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?JOs have been active in the MainSIM and SideSIMs. I expect their involvement will grow with the demands (and thrill!) of the upcoming MainSIM. I have no concerns for our JOs.

Who is the shining star this month? Alison Hanna plays Lt. JG Umbri Zayne, our Weapons Officer, who ventured off to track down the “kraken” that claimed Taggart’s late wife, Nave. Alison is a vibrant, immensely talented writer who’s a delight to be around in and out of character. It’s been a blast writing with her and I cannot wait to see where the story takes Umbri.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Discussed the main sim/side sim posting issue with CO. While it’s great the ship is heading and posting is up, it needs to be going up in main sim more than sides.
CO aware and also working on vacancies.

Will focus on vacancies and picking up main sim posting counts this month.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Jerome Davis

How is your ship looking overall? We had a hiccup with the GM having to take a bit of a break resulting in a rather quiet month but with him back, I’m looking forward to the month ahead. We have feelers out for two vacant DH posts but look to have those filled by mid May.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The general interaction with the crew on the Bridge - Main Sim thread

https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/odin/posts/170280/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Consistency returning in story progression. The GM absence in April threw everyone off and seeing the return to the main storyline will he welcomed

Executive Officer: David Shotton

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The Odin is still looking for a Chief Engineer and a Chief Science Officer. Our CMO and CoS are keeping up with the main sim and a side sim, but otherwise posting has been slow all around.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The Odin currently has available places for JO’s in all departments

Who is the shining star this month? Kenson, our ever faithful GM has been keeping the Main sim alive.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No known reason for missing GM report.

Will be working with CO this month to fill DH positions and discuss other ways to bring up posting and participation.

No award nominees

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

How is your ship looking overall? The Saracen exploded at the end of the month as a host of new faces joined us, and some quality writing has taken place on the ship as people find their feet and meet the rest of the crew. With so many new faces, we are writing a pre-sim crew rotation has taken place with positions such as Chief Engineer, Chief of Security, Counselor, Chief of Operations, Chief Tactical Officer and both Security and Science JO slots bring exciting and fantastic writers into our mix.

I’d like to welcome to the Saracen members newish to the club such as David Shaw and Michael Lyon playing our Chief of Operations and a Bajoran Security exchange officer respectively along with Christina Crafford with a Science officer, Matt Bongiorno playing our new Chief Tactical Officer, Catt Bennet playing our Counselor / Diplomatic Officer, Nicole Cline writing our new Chief Engineer and a special thank you to Jen Ward who agreed to bring in an amazing character to play our Chief of Security. Jen already had a medical JO on the ship, so thank you Jen for agreeing to take our open CoS slot.

With new faces, a Main Sim beginning to hit it’s stride and quality writing talent on the ship, I am a wee bit excited for what May will bring.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? To be honest, so many new people being so excited to bring on characters and join our team really made my April. Everybody has been busy wringing through their check-ins and meeting others that it’s difficult for me to pinpoint one specific thread without doing due justice to all of the great writing everyone is putting in, and especially keeping it focused on April’s threads with many still continuing into this month.

I will say, that a simple thread with casual drinks between myself, Terry Sullivan, Kate O’Neill, Jen Ward, David Shaw and Luke Hung has turned out to be a catalyst for future side sims and a shore leave, as the Saracen turns around and heads back to Earth so we can spend some R&R time on our XO’s family Ranch in Wyoming. I foresee interesting threads in our future!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Once our new writers have settled in and worked through our check-ins, I’d like to see a push for our main sim to get some much needed loving with the fresh injection of excitement for James’ fantastic story.

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The Saracen’s CO, David Shotton, recently went on a major recruitment drive and was very successful in getting the DH positions filled with some great writers. All of them have been active in the main sim as well as side sims consisting of the physicals and psych evals.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Same thing as above. A number of new JO’s have joined the crrew and are active with physicals and psych evals.

Who is the shining star this month? CO David Shotton for his recruitment work in filling many empty spaces in the roster.

Gamemaster: James Sinclair

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Saracen intercepted a distress call from a Federation ship trying to flee Romulan space, a ship that had been missing for eleven years. As the Saracen went to investigate, they found marauders attacking the vessel. Before they could assist, the Romulans arrived and there was more than a bit of confusion on which side anyone but the Saracen was on. Communications were problematic with the escaping vessel, and to add to the stress, one of the Romulan ships was blown apart after the Saracen tried to fire a warning shot… in an explosion far too powerful for a single ship. A Romulan Admiral asked for an in person meeting on the Saracen, and the crew must now try and figure out just what in the blazes is going on. The meeting is continuing, and while pieces of the puzzle are not scarce… what that puzzle represents is still hidden form the Saracen and her crew. What is known is this: Strange things are afoot… and lives may hang in the balance.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? With the delay in my posting due to RL events, I have to commend the entire crew on staying active and making sure the sim didn’t falter in my absence.

FComm’s Comments: Ship got influx of folks and filled needed DH positions. V will work with CO to see what else he wants to focus on this month.

CO nominated as writer of the month for bringing in folks and keeping the ship up to speed.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Matt Bongiorno

How is your ship looking overall? The ship is looking solid overall. I appreciate our XO River’s assistance over the past couple of months as she has continued to prove that she is ready for her own command by going above and beyond. I challenged her with completing the CO Exam and I look forward to hearing about her results. The Sentinel is all green in the AWOL category with every author posting on time which indicates good health in activity. The main sim has been gradually moving forward. Rob our GM has been excellent with communication with the crew OOC and has driven interest in the main sim as a whole. Unfortunately, Nathan had to step down from Chief Engineer due to real life issues which are completely understandable. When everything gets on track for him, he has agreed to continue posting as a JO, but most importantly real life comes first. Nathan is a wonderful writer and I look forward to his return when he is ready. Adrian is one of our JOs and he is currently working on exams for school and will return when he has time again. The good news is that we had three new authors join our ship: Jackie Robinson Jr (Security JO), Richard A (Security JO), and Elin Harker (Doctor-Medical JO). I am excited that they have joined the crew and I fondly anticipate reading their work. We have a DH opening for Chief Engineer which we plan to fill this month and then the Sentinel will be fully staffed in all DH areas once again. The Sentinel is on track to have a great month in May, we just have to keep all aspects on point and continuing to move in the right direction.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I have enjoyed having one on ones with most of the members with the crew. Having the opportunity to learn about everyone’s characters is something every Commanding Officer should make a point to do. Everyone that I have written with has been wonderful and I love how they portray their characters. It can be tough at times to respond to so many posts, but my goal is to get those wrapped up over the course of May.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I am in the process of getting a few side sims going that involves the entire crew. The first one is going to be phaser training to help increase the crew’s readiness for potential combat situations during the Sentinel’s journey in the uncharted area known as ‘The Abyss.’ I will be meeting with my DHs to encourage them to create side sims in their respective departments as well now that we have several new JOs and a solid number of existing ones. We will also fill the opening for Chief Engineer this month and I will keep my eye out once again for potential authors that may be interested in joining the Sentinel.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: So ship wise the sentinel is just booming! Booming in fact to the point where I as GM had to ask our overeager CO Matt to slow down on adding people beyond a certain point. As going above a certain amount makes it hard for me as a GM to ensure everyone has something to do in a main sim. The CO and XO were receptive to my feedback and I’m happy about that, but equally so happy that the Sentinel is booming. Side note with Strange New Worlds coming out literally in a few days I think we really need to highlight this for prospective new members that could be drawn here for that.

Sim wise the sentinel crew are still down to four separate threads, 1 is the bridge thread where a player is coordinating everything on the ship and ground, the 2nd is on the ship’s hull where the engineer has had their ghostly encounter finding the source/case of the ship’s power drain and gotten to repairing it after the ‘ghosts’ vanished, 3rd the landing team in valiki has gotten into the large village and are deciding where to go to get more information on the cause of the warp burst that dragged them here, and 4th the landing team in barovia village are currently sitting down to enjoy a meal to do the same

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: No reason for no XO report.

Ship is doing well. Will work with CO this month to fill DH positions and discuss other ways to keep things rolling.

GM nominated as GM of the month for keeping things going stay despite the sudden influx of writers to the ship.

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: Jennifer Ward

How is your ship looking overall? There isn’t much to say here this month. She’s an amazing crew and I wish her the best. Strong writers full of spirit and creativity and a passion for their craft.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Our new Security Jo Laju Eghimea and her on boarding with her CoS Forgrave https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/169688/

and her CO Asam. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/169954/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.

Gamemaster: Jennifer Ward

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The sim just ended. It was a wonderful ride and I can’t do the summary justice. Instead I provide the following link: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/172577/

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Jason as our story teller. He is a magnificent writer and I want to thank him for providing such a rich and exciting world for us.

FComm’s Comments: Viking has been decommissioned.

Folks were given two weeks to find alternative RP locations.

Sim wrap up was logged with GMDept.

Ship is clear for decommissioning.

Overall the Fleet isn’t doing bad. We decommissioned the Viking in April but folks were able to find other ships in a timely manner. Thanks to CO Jen, XO (and defacto GM) Jason for their service leading the ship. You guys were amazing and the ship will be missed.

This month will focus on missing DH positions and picking up main sim counts.

Archer is GM of the month on Sentinel for keeping things rolling with huge influx of characters.

CO David Shotten on Saracen is nominated writer of the month for his work in integrating the new folks and getting his dDH positions filled.

Saracen is ship of the month for full roster and active posting.

No character of the month nominees given.
