The Pioneer Fleet Report - June 2022

USS Athena

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

How is your ship looking overall? The Athena has had a slow go of it this month. Some side-sims are still going, but due to my own need for a couple LOAs this month and having to try to find a new XO and various other personnel, my attempts at engaging with the sim sort of stalled a bit. But we have new crew coming in now, and I can put all more effort where I ideally wish to put it. :)

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Janna Kingstong and Orvos Legen have ultimately found themselves under unique circumstances that bind them together in a way. (It helps that they’ve had some chemistry over the years for each other.) Upon discovering this, the poor CMO now has to deal with the awkwardness of having a counselor and (at the moment) first officer from touching each…despite the fact they only discovered their situation by doing a significant amount of touching already. :P

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Posting!

I’ll also be touching base with our GM as well just so we are all on the same page and working together. :) No issues, but maintaining communication is key in my opinion.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Tony is off to a wonderful start as CO. He has filled the XO position with a quality candidate in Sam Haynes. The ship is coming together with minimal AWOLS. The XO report is excused this month as Sam literally just took over her new role. The GM report is not excused and I will be following up with him on his current status.
AFComm’s Comments: The Athena has some fresh blood aboard, which has helped boost their activity! Great work!

USS Atlantis

Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill

How is your ship looking overall? The ship is doing well given it is summer and lots of people are on vacation. This has its pros and cons. The pros are people come back rested and inspired. The cons are we miss all the posts we love from the writers on the ship. I am over the moon happy with the crew and their stories. They continue to be engaging and fun to both write and just read.

The main sim has several new surprises in store with the introduction of Federation uniforms from a hundred years ago now added into the mix. Luke continues to dazzle as the GM and we are so lucky for his time and effort in creating a story for us to participate in.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I did love the addition of Peter Sigmundsson as the new CIO. His post was fun to write and I can’t wait to see what he has in store.

I did also love the backstory with Ethan Nash. It has been a lot of fun and I am rather excited to continue with what happens as the cadets become counselors for a weekend for a camp for Wayward Women. I am pretty sure there will be surprises for all.

We also had Joana R and Tribble joining the ranks of the ship which always are a delight and adventure to read and post with.

Okay so there is not just one but I am lucky enough to have a crew this talented I struggled to choose between them; however, a captain can not pick favorites unless that Captain is Oprah. If that is the case then....You are the best and You are the best and You are the best.

All jokes aside, you really are the best crew a captain could ever want or hope for. Thank you all for your dedication to the ship and the site. You are appreciated.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Make sure everyone is happy and has a place to post. The backbone of STF is the writing so I feel like it is my duty to make sure that the writers on my ship feel welcomed, inspired, and creative.

Executive Officer: Gene Gibbs

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?It is always a nice thing to come back to the ship after a short misadventure with the calendar to find almost too many posts to catch up on, and seeing our good Captain having been busy pressganging new crew. Well done Cap!! The DH’s are active either in sim or side sims. New crew always activates certain threads that stimulates action elsewhere and this is the case for this month. Luke is bringing in angles that make one go ‘huh?!’ which is ever a delight and again sparks activity. While there are a couple of DH’s away, or specialist posts, for the most part the folks are pressing on toward their goals. The slower side are those left on the ship, including Jen, though I’m hoping to remedy that shortly. There are some decks that still need to be swabbed after the pirates left and we have plenty of toothbrushes thanks to a replicating accident.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? We’ve some JO’s, again thanks to our busy Captain searching out folks. They are active barring one, and I am hopeful that this gives the DH’s fodder to generate good character development with having someone to interact with again. Will be watching this month how our activity is with keeping everyone progressing.

Who is the shining star this month? Our good captain for recruiting efforts and her wacky fun posts. And Luke for throwing in new wrenches into the sim that generates just enough of a head turning ‘huh?!’ without causing whiplash.

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The crew has now learned of a star-ship or at least pieces of a star-ship that is 50,000 light years from Federation Territory. If there was a way to get here, maybe there’s a way to get back. Unfortunately the clues are from 100 years ago. There will be problems finding a way to get whatever brought that ship here working after 100 years.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Despite a few AWOLs which I blame primarily on the recent fourth of July holiday part of the season and summer vacations, the ship continues to run effectively overall. I look forward to seeing the progress of the Atlantis in July.
AFComm’s Comments: The Command Crew (GM including) are doing a great job with keeping the crew busy. A few AWOLs, but hasn’t slowed down the sim at this point.

USS Chimera

Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul

How is your ship looking overall? Overall we are okay. We had a minor hiccup with Jason having resign as XO. Fortunately I did not have to look very far for his replacement, Kieron Hoult stepped up into the role which is great. Unfortunately it means I have another DH position to fill, but I’m happy to have someone eager to give command a try.

We have slowed a bit, Kirt had a minor bit of RL hit him, but he is aiming to post shortly that should help get rid of the bit AWOLing on the roster.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Kieron Hoult and Mika Jackson are happily diving right into the main simm. A little bit of a hiccup, but I think they’re on track.

I’m also thoroughly enjoyine Nick V.’s Ferengi CE.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I need more DHs, I currently require a new CSO, a COS and a CAG (marine position). And if you’re looking for a new JO position, I will happily take you in pretty much any department. :)

Executive Officer: Kieron Hoult

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The Chimera‘s main sim is moving slowly but the plot is progressing towards an end point already established in a later thread. (See Thread: Observation Lounge - Post Mission) One of the Department Heads has checked in to this thread thus far, but we are moving towards writing into the sim my promotion to XO. I will begin to check in with the other Department Heads as soon as I can in order to keep the thread moving forward starting now. In terms of recruiting a new CSO, I am currently in the process of scanning the master roster in search of someone I feel would be perfect for the role.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We currently have a lack of consistent side sims happening on the Chimera due to a severe lack of inactivity from the Junior Officers (mainly because as it stands, we have NO JOs.) Starting from when this report is submitted, I will be running down the crew list aboard the Chimera and check in with any of the JOs that may need a bit of assistance in getting going with side sims, as well as where to jump in with a sim with the assistance of Kirt as GM. My aim for the month overall is to get the Chimera back up to a regular posting speed as soon as possible.

Who is the shining star this month? Mika Jackson, playing the role of Lieutenant LaKeitah Naisyr has been posting on the Chimera most regularly this month, really fleshing out her character’s relationships with the other Department Heads as well as doing her best to really get stuck in to the role of Counselor within what’s left of the Main Sim. I have loved every second of my chances to write with her thus far and can’t wait to see where her character goes next.

Gamemaster: Kirt Gartner

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Chimera has been sent to Find a missing Primitive Species observation team on a planet that is in its Industrial revolution The sensors can not find the team so an away team has been sent they have just finished the investigation of the Observation teams base and now are feeling the police after the ship that took the Observation team out on an expedition has come back after having been attacked

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Mika Jackson and Kieron Hoult

FComm’s Comments: Congrats to Kieron Hoult on landing his first XO role on the Chimera. The Chimera has been in a tough state throughout this term. However, it could not have a better Captain to guide it through the storm in Kat Dedul. There are a couple DH positions that still need to be filled. I will be reaching out to the command team to see if they have anyone in the pipeline along with providing recommendations. There are also a couple of AWOLS, the command team and DHs will need to get the rest of the crew engaged in the month of July.

AFComm’s Comments: The Chimera is in need of a few Department Heads, reach out to Kat or Kieron if interested

USS Ogawa

Commanding Officer: Calé Reilly

How is your ship looking overall? This month was an improvement for the owie. We hit fully green across the roster on a few occasions and engagement is up. We may are 270 odd posts in June which is amazing to see. The main sim is moving further to its conclusion and the side sims are exciting. We also had some new people join us which has added some amazing characters and writers to our team. I’m so proud of the crew this month.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I can’t choose. Honestly, there are so many. I have to highlight Linds and Amber and Nick for their very exciting kidnapping thread, the depth there is literally keeping me on the edge of my seat. Nicole and Jenn have been showing off their awesome posting styles together which gain has been awesome to follow. Our new chief of psychiatry and our awesome psychiatry staff Mika and Lori have given us so many interesting threads to read and of course Jenn and James still are thrilling us with their threads. I also have to tip my hat to Brandon who has helped me flesh out more of my characters story this month. Everyone has been a star this month

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’m hoping we can keep this energy going and have our main sim come to its conclusion, a rest period and off we will go again with the awesome Geoff and Linds plotting for us as we speak.

Executive Officer: Lindsay B

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Though we’ve had some people on LOAs (some declared, some extended, and some unmarked), we’ve actually had a green roster several times this month and have a significant number of posts (so many of them truly amazing). The sim is moving to a close so there is less for everyone to do, but most DHs are keeping busy with side sims.

Mika has been an excellent addition, jumping in to the Psyc department with gusto. Nick is proving to be an essential part of the team and his character Oscar never fails to disappoint in garnering a chuckle or two. Amber is ever conspiring with me to up the drama ante and for her awesome participation I’m very grateful. James and Jenn are continuing a lovely thread and as James settles back in from being away. And we welcome a new head nurse in Amie who is settling in nicely. And Brandon continues to lead the medical team wonderfully all the while getting his character into trouble in side sim. So much fun all around!

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Much like the DHs, we’ve not always been green, but posting has been high this month. River has been doing a great cross-ship side side that is slowly involving more and more people and I love it. Jenn as always is supporting a lot of threads in wonderful ways.

Who is the shining star this month? Everyone has been posting great this month, even if some are just getting back into the swing of things. But I’d have to give a big shout out to Jenn and River for taking up the challenge of upping our post count and making them quality as much as quantity. Well done!

Gamemaster: Geoff Joosten

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Wow it has been a long time since I submitted a report! Part of it has been LOAs that happen at the end of the month, and just plain forgetting but I figure I better get at least one more in before the end of the term.

The sim is wrapping up (as it has been for the last six months). I thought we were just about done but the crew wanted to explore one of the plot lines regarding Romulan tuberculosis. Hopefully we can close out that thread and move on to the big finale production before moving on to the next sim. After almost two years this one is getting a little long in the tooth.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Everyone has been a good contributor in all of this month, and the previous months. Too many to count and name but I am deeply appreciative to everyone who has participated.

FComm’s Comments: Ogawa is the Pioneer Fleet ship of the month. It continues to run well and effectively. I am truly proud of the command team for their efforts this term in keeping the crew engaged. This month they put on a clinic and proved to be a token example of how a ship in STF should be run.

AFComm’s Comments: Great job team! Ogawa has def out done themselves this month :)
