Starfleet Academy Report - July 2022
As with the previous month, I continued to do a lot of behind the scenes work with my Vice Commandant. Travis continues to do well, I’m hoping with the next cadet graduation that I can get him familiar and comfortable with that process. Much of what we’ve covered thus far is sort of personnel management matters, which are important but not something that generally gets talked about publicly for obvious reasons.
Beyond that, I have conducted a review of most of the courses put together by Cale and I’m starting to brainstorm a few methods we can use to implement them. I’m mainly looking at their format which isn’t entirely compatible with the library and how we can work this out in a way that makes sense for everyone. Complexity leads to misinterpretations down the road and I want to make sure this whole thing is straightforward and easy to implement and maintain.
I’m midly concerned at the lack of ship reports, having only heard from the CO (Steve), though the GM (Linds) was on LOA for a period of time so I’ve excused her report due to that.

Academy Commandant
USS Challenger
Commanding Officer: Steve Johnson
How is your ship looking overall? Overall the Challenger is looking good. We slowed down for the month of July because we wrapped up one simm, and while Linds was out for her LOA, she had some RL things pop up. However, those are getting sorted out, and we should hopefully be starting our new simm shortly. The only thing to note is that we only currently have one cadet. Hopefully we’ll be able to get some more new people soon, otherwise I will probably look at pausing the ship when they graduate.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The graduation of two of our cadets!
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. The biggest thing to work on is AWOL’s for the senior staff. Because we are short on cadets, they’ve been slipping a little bit as there hasn’t been as much to do.
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: No report submitted, excused due to LOA
FComm’s Comments: Overall no major concerns for the Challenger. They could use a few new cadets, but that’s something that’s entirely out of their control. I guess the sole cadet can feel extra special for a little bit. Linds had submitted her new mission plan and I’ve approved it.
