The Pioneer Fleet Report - July 2022

USS Athena

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

How is your ship looking overall? In the month of July we saw 251 posts! That’s nearly 100 more than the previous month! Now I will add that it may have a lot to do with a recent influx of new people and folks coming back from LOA. There’s been many posts this month which is pretty exciting for the Athena.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? There are so many to share, it’s impossible for me to link them all. Our security department is doing great with side-sim interactions. We have a rather unique science officer newly aboard who is very reminiscent of a type of ostrich. And it was great to be able to do a sudden change in command for the Athena with Sam!

I’m looking forward to many interactions to come between everyone!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. While we have had a good month for posts, the main sim is still kind of stalled at the moment. We’ve been in the sim for nearly three months and it would seem that we are still near the very beginning. I really would like to see it start moving in August.

Executive Officer: Sam Haynes

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?- Our DH’s have been pretty active all around, save for an LOA or two. They’ve got multiple side-sims going on, and with our main sim moving along at a sluggish pace, all have been involved but are keeping busy ont he side.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?- Our JO’s are not as active with the Main Sim as I would like. It’s still in the opening act as far as I can tell, and so far fairly thin, but people are finding places to put in the work.

Who is the shining star this month? - Lindsey Bayes, the Busy Beaver. Even when on LOA status, the lady is a regular post factory and staying busy.

FComm’s Comments: I will reach out to the CO about the main sim and see what their plan is for moving it forward at a more consistent pace. The crew is quite active with the side sims which is wonderful to see. Activity seems to be under control with only a couple of AWOLs, no cause for concern there. I will be working with the CO on their plan for the Athena for this presidential term as I have retained my FComm role here in the Pioneer Fleet.

USS Atlantis

Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill

How is your ship looking overall? Given it is summer and the time for family, fun, and vacations, the Altantis is doing as well as expected. The writers come and go with LOA’s so it has slowed the posts at times but not the quality. As always the talented writers that are on the Altantis pick up full steam ahead with the stories when they return. July did see the gain of two new crew. We are so excited to have Jerome and Joana join the ship as CAG and fleet squadron commander. The main sim is moving along with Kelly and company deciding to possibly go where angels fear to tread. Maybe they are just hoping to bring a little light to the Darkness. There are several character development threads happening that are very interesting to read.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I have enjoyed Hjortur Ingi and Luke Hung’s posts on the ship. Hjortur is playing the CIO and Luke is playing a psychiatrist. Both are writing amazing posts that are giving a huge insight into what makes their characters tick.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I want to ensure all my crew are happy and engaged in the I have enjoyed stories they want to tell and give them the support to do so.

Executive Officer: Gene Gibbs

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?I’m grouping both DH and JO’s into this set. The sim has slowed some so side sims are popping up which is good as it shows interest in one’s characters and wanting to interact with others. It’s a good group and a good mix with good writers. We’ve had some people out and some people returning. Life has had its way of touching us all outside of STF here which demands its own attention. People are mainly keeping to the limits, er, cough, myself included, er, focusing on the ‘mainly’. Right now the sim is at a place of investigation and talking and those times can be not unlike washboards on a gravel road. They can be exciting to some but can feel like the thread is heading into the ditch for others and needs everyone to get through to the other side. Summer is also here and that nice weather is very attractive so giving some ‘summer grace’ to allow for that Vit D R&R time. So, I guess the essence is that Kate and I are trying to make that washboard exciting, interactive, and not head for the ditch :)

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

Who is the shining star this month? While it was a late shooting star, Joana Ribeiro and Jerome Davis are in a meet up thread that is one piece of fine writing.

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The crew has found remnants of a star-ship from 150 years ago. Given that they are 50,000 light years away that would mean our ‘other’ star-ship found a quick way to the this part of the galaxy. If so is there a back door the the Atlantis to go home.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Aside from a few AWOLs, the Atlantis is running smoothly. It had a solid run last term and I hope that it carries over through this term as well. I will be working with the CO on their plan for the Atlantis for this presidential term as I have retained my FComm role here in the Pioneer Fleet.

USS Chimera

Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul

How is your ship looking overall? Overall, we are doing pretty well. I’ve got a CMO, COS and as the month closed down, I got an influx of four marine fighter characters, thanks to James Sinclair for spearheading that and returning as our CAG.

Beyond that, we are making progress with the mission on the surface, the away team has gotten into a bit of an interesting bind, it’ll be interesting to see where it leads.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? It was fun to play out the promotion of Kieron’s character to XO (https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/chimera/posts/181692/).

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I still need a CSO and if I can swing it, a marine battalion commander. My main focus is going to be in the CSO of course, however my efforts have paid off well this past month with 5 new faces on the ship!

Gamemaster: Kirt Gartner

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The USS Chimera has been sent to locate a missing Primitive Species observation team on a Steampunk planet the Away team has done an initial investigation however the ship the observation team disappeared from has been brought in damaged Police have locked the area off and after finding their path down an alleyway blocked with a Gang of muggers and chasing them off with a bit of brilliance using the noise of a Tricorder to scare them it seems the Away team were captured by a group now they are imprisoned and talking with someone who helped them earlier

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? n/a Its a matter of posting when we can

FComm’s Comments: I will be working with the CO this month on their plan for this Presidential term. They did a phenomenal job bringing back a struggling ship to life last term. The CoS AWOL is a concern and I will see who she has in the pipeline for CSO. Perhaps additional blood will be added to the Chimera soon. They did a wonderful job in bringing in five new members in a month, that is fantastic! I will be reaching out to the XO as they did not submit a report this month and it is not excused.

USS Ogawa

Commanding Officer: Calé Reilly

How is your ship looking overall? Overall the owie is looking good this month, we have the main sim coming to its conclusion and some amazing character development and side sims happening. There is the normal AWOLs and LOAs but it hasn’t slowed us down any and we managed to hit 257 posts for July. Which is awesome.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I am loving still the exciting kidnap thread Amber, Linds and Nick have been working on. My character is now involved which is awesome and I can’t wait to see how that progresses. Also as always James and Jenn have kept us entertained with their characters developing relationship! So exciting. Mika is fabulous in every sense, her psychiatry character and portrayal of HARLEEN too has been amazing. Hats off to Scott who has jumped right in and just been awesome all around. And of course Brandon who took a random emperors new groove meme with me and had laugh! Honestly I am so proud of the entire owie family each month that I can’t possibly name everyone. You guys rock owie peeps.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. We are going to transition into our next sim with a brief R and R side sim and then obviously In character promotions! Let’s recognise some role playing over the main sim! Woot! I can’t wait to see what Linds and Geoff combined will have for us.

FComm’s Comments: The Ogawa was the highest performing ship and the shining star of the Pioneer Fleet last term. It is run well and has a leadership team with an abundance of experience. I will be working with the CO on their plan for the Ogawa for this presidential term as I have retained my FComm role here in the Pioneer Fleet. I am surprised not to see a report from the XO or the GM this month. I will reach out to them to ensure that everything is alright on their end. Those reports are not excused.
