The Pioneer Fleet Report - September 2022
USS Athena

Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: Katy Darrah
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: 5 survivors of the crew of the USS Montezuma, currently stranded in the Lion’s Mane Nebula, have arrived at the Athena and are meeting with the crew in the shuttlebay to explain their story. Some mysteries are beginning to crop up and there are many questions to be answered, among them being why the crew didn’t try to repair the ship, why 5 Ensigns left for help, and do these people have some form of ulterior motive
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Tony Findora, the CO, has been quite helpful in driving the plot along IC and OOC (like working with me for posting)
AFComm’s Comments: Not bad! Besides a few AWOLs/LOAs, the Athena is chugging along just nicely. Our GMT here will be excused this month since she didn’t have permissions to submit.
USS Atlantis
Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill
How is your ship looking overall? The ship is doing great despite some AWOL’s and LOA’s that pop-up. Life gets busy, but when my writers can write, man, can they create something unique, engaging, and amazing posts. Thank you all for being on the ship and finding time to write and share your creative side with me. The talent on the Atlantis is superb and I am so proud to have each and every one of you on the ship.
Main sim = We are in the Bryast system and about to explore the planets to find out more about the missing Federation ship from 200 years ago. Also..... “Ahoy Captain. Argh we have a looky-loo off the port bow.” Could this ship be bringing coffee or a bloody nose? Only time and a nosy Captain will tell.
Side sims = the check -ins continue with a peek into each new writer’s character.
Tigress is Quinn bringing me my pie or do I have to replicate it
Jen keep up the brilliant writing as a counselor.
Ethan continue to explore the cultural diversity of Cats in the camp.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I have immensely enjoyed the responses to the crew against the religious zealots “the Elders”. Rarely do we get a chance to let writers build up a pure and unadulterated hatred for characters in a thread. As the writer of the “other” characters (ie. Rogan, Zala, and Da Mu) I have strived to make everyone want nothing more than to PM me and say “can I please blow them out of the airlock”. I have gotten those and yes…you all will get your chance to hit open hatch in some fashion in due time. I have loved the “gentle and nurturing side” of Mardusk that we don’t usually get because he is the one kicking butts and taking names for the brig cells. I have loved seeing Rinker’s mind in play where he has removed the kleenex from reach and is able to look the Elders in the eyes and say with pure clinical conviction “you are a 100% class A nut job”. Styxx is able to show how characters “get the job done” even when they are suffering an extreme personal loss at the moment. Peter is new to the crew, but I adore his “no muss no fuss” about getting to the bottom of an intelligence operation. Sam is showing how flexible security officers are in a battle and how whether they are lobbing phaser volleys or Swedish meatballs against a foe they will get the job done.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would love to develop any storyline with every crew member on this ship that spotlights and challenges them in a post. Whether it is drama or action I would love to be the one to help each crew member explore a facet of their writing they always have wanted to try.
Get more people involved in the main sim. Luke has an amazing and engaging sim for the crew of the Atlantis....please post to the main sim before any other thread. If you need help finding a spot drop the command team a line. As you all well know....Kate always has a million ideas, albeit not always good ones but ideas ;) Being a GM takes a lot of work and dedication to a ship so thank you Luke for creating a place for us all to engage and explore.

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Kelly and the Atlantis have arrived in the Bryast System where the 200 year old Starfleet uniform was found. They also have a visitor lurking on the edge of long range sensors. Let’s hope is a friend and not the Darkness
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?
AFComm’s Comments: A few LOAs/AWOL but nothing distracting from the main sim.
USS Chimera
Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul
How is your ship looking overall? Overall, we are doing alright. I would like to snag a few more JO positions and perhaps recruit a marine Batallion Commander (though that is not super pressing or required). We’ve had some slower posting this past month, but nothing super concerning. I will continue to watch the AWOLs, but they generally self-correct before anything gets out of control.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I’m enjoying my character’s interacting with Mika’s CNS character (https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/chimera/posts/187273/)
I’m also quite liking the interaction between a few of our newer crewmembers as they settle in (https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/chimera/posts/187916/)
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I am going to focus on recruiting 1 JO for each of the core departments (Engineering, Science, Medical & Security), our CAG has his wonderful marines under his department, so I think my other DHs might enjoy having some fellow officers to interact with.

How is your ship looking overall? The owie has had a slower month with the main sim having ended and some awols and loas. However we still have had some amazing side sims going on while we are between sims and finally got the chance to do some IC promotions! Woot! The exciting side sim we’ve been following with Linds’ and Amber’s characters is coming to an exciting conclusion (and an explosion for the ship!) and we’ve got some family situations going on with a wedding on the horizon! Our new sim is coming soon and we will have the best time with both Geoff and Linds working together for this one. I can’t wait.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Too many to name. I love the fact we have some awesome interactions going on between sims and the aforementioned explosive end game of the side sim we have been following is amazing to read and be involved in. Also I really enjoyed the opertunities Brandon gave me to write a little more of Willows more relaxed side. Who doesn’t like the emperors new groove after all!
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. Our next sim will be starting and we will be looking to hit the ground running with that, also looking to fill one few spots that have opened in our roster for JOs!
Executive Officer: Lindsay B
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? We’re still between sims but most people are staying busy, though we’ve continued to have LOAs and some AWOLs. We’re just discussing when to start the new sim now that we have done the wrap up from the previous.
Congrats to all those that got promotions!
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Same as the DHs, right now we’re just trying to keep everyone active and hopefully there will be more involvement in the coming days.
Who is the shining star this month? James and Jenn are consistently crafting interesting storylines and are solid presences on the ship. Mika too has been involved in some interesting threads, some of which went well for her characters, and some not. It’s bene interesting to read.

AFComm’s Comments: The new sim is in the process of starting! I really enjoyed looking through the Ogawa’s board this month :)

Overall:
While somewhat slower than last month, there doesn’t seem to be a cause for concern. The COs/XOs have acknowledged their crew’s LOAs/AWOLs above and I’m sure they’ll step in if it gets too out of hand. I’ve really enjoyed reading the boards throughout September. My goal for our fleet would be for the crews to incorporate normally unused portions of the ship into their storylines. :)
