The Pioneer Fleet Report - December 2022
USS Athena
Commanding Officer: Tony Findora
How is your ship looking overall? The sim is still struggling a bit. We have a GMT who is still getting used to the ropes. My hope is that we can make significant progress this soon.
With the holidays have come and now departing we still have a significant number of folks still come back. With limits coming back I’m sure we will see the crew up and hopping soon.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.POSTING! The Athena has always been a ship that can really get moving quick. Multiple plotline between various characters are happening and will keep going. Once the sim really picks up, I’m hoping we see more of that activity soon.
Executive Officer: Sam Haynes
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? From what I can tell all are right where they need to be. Either they have been active on the bridge or with the shuttle and it’s crew that we dragged aboard. Sidesims all around.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? They are fairly busy with side sims, but there hasn’t been a lot of action for the main sim for them to get involved with currently. I’ll put my head together with Tony and see if we can rectify this.
Who is the shining star this month? I really can’t pick. The holidays are always tumultuous times, and so things may go well for one person and then fall behind a week later. And that is true for everyone. But for the most part our crew has been plugging right along even with the difficult season, which makes me proud of all of them.
Gamemaster: No report submitted
AFComm’s Comments: The Athena’s posting has increased drastically compared to last month :) I echo both Tony and Sam!
USS Atlantis
Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill
How is your ship looking overall? The ship is doing well given it was December and posting limits were relaxed for half the month. The main sim is moving along with most of the crew actively engaging in the story. Luke has created two sections that allow for all positions on the ship to participate. In the section that occurs on the Atlantis, Kelly and Tenzig are trying to figure out where an abnormal radiation reading is being picked up on the scanner. Tenzig Trainor, the COO, has come up with a hypothesis that might be the key to figuring that out. In the section of the main sim that occurs on the planet, the XO is leading a team of scientists and the counselor to the base they detected on the side of a volcano. Right now the team is trying to find a way past the security systems to unlock the door and gain access.
Several side sims are occurring that spotlight one of the crew in the individual threads. The idea is to explore a different side than the one we normally get to read about.
We also had the addition of a re-occurring crew member this month. Rusty Boshankles is returning with his ex-borg character Three of Five. I am very excited to have him back on the ship.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? While posting has been slower, I have enjoyed the side sim posts where the crew is faced with an impossible enemy that is intent on only causing terror and harm to the crew but the crew each has to use their intelligence over fancy weapons to defeat them.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Make sure everyone on the crew is engaged and feels creatively inspired.
Executive Officer: Gene Gibbs
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Right now we have the main sim thread active, along with a side sim that, too, is wrapping up. December was not so friendly as usual with the lull in posting. Hopefully when the turkey comas have worn off we can get back to it. Will be chatting with the skipper too around activity …
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have a couple of JO’s .. most of the crew are specialists or DH’s. While I thought we had lost one, he has posted back so am relieved to see that. Will see if I can’t enlist him more in the main sim.
Who is the shining star this month? Santa!! Or is that Rudolph? No wait, the skipper for keeping things moving when all else were turkey coma’d.
Gamemaster: Luke Hung
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The month of December was slower with the relaxed posting limits; however, the main sim continued to progress, albeit slowly, throughout the month.
There are two parts to the main sim. The first involves one on the ship where Kelly and Tenzig are heading up a scientific analysis of a piece of debris with an odd radiation signature.
On the planet, the XO and his team are attempting to open up the seal base on the side of a volcano.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Gene Gibbs as the XO. Gene has kept the pace steady and made sure that everyone in his thread has a place to post and feel included. While he is the XO, he has gone above and beyond this month in the main sim.
AFComm’s Comments: Do I spy an ex-drone on the roster? Should be interesting! I’m excited to see the Atlantis posts increasing too
USS Chimera
Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul
How is your ship looking overall? Overall we have a few AWOLs to watch now that AWOL limits are back in force. I have sent notices to everyone who is currently AWOL. We don’t have too many, so I’m not super concerned at this stage.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. As anticipated, I did not have enough time to spend too much time on recruitment. So for January, I’d like to find some more JOs to round out the roster a bit more.
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: Kirt Gartner
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Crew of the USS Chimera has been tasked with locating a missing Primitive Species observation team which has gone missing on a world forever stuck in Twilight never day never night The species are just entering their Industrial Revolution period however they have tech far more advanced something is going on The away team beamed down disguised as per Prime Directive protocol in this instance they have learned that the High Commandant is a tyrant who is enslaving his own people somehow for some reason now the Away team has teamed up with a Rebel force and are heading for the High Commandants base to hopefully locate the missing team and take down the High Commandant
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Kat and James
James helped me with a narrative situation I was having a problem with which was integrating his pilots into the sim and Kat has been helping me keep the sim moving
AFComm’s Comments: Playing on the line of the Prime Directive are we? Exciting sim! If you’re interested in another JO position, Kat has openings on the Chimera!
USS Ogawa

Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: No report submitted
AFComm’s Comments: The board is more lively this month :) Unfortunately, no one is excused from reports this month!
Overall:
More reports submitted this month compared to last, which is a great turn around. We’re still seeing a lot of members overstaying their LOAs which will be considered AWOL in my book if they don’t reply to my emails.
I’ve reached out to COs who may have AWOL GMs or members who may need to be unrostered for indef LOA reasons. Still more AWOLS among the DH/JOs than I’d like to see, but some may be adjusting to work after the holidays. I’ll take note and circle back next month :)
