The Meridian Fleet Report - December 2022
USS Brian A. Olinski
Commanding Officer: No report submitted
Executive Officer: Luke Hung
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Most of the ship is in a lull as there is a relaxed posting and a little light on crew. There is just a few side sims going on so its is a sparse posting, but it looks like its picking up now.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?
Who is the shining star this month?
Gamemaster: No report submitted
FComm’s Comments: Olinski in need of some care. Will be working with them to try and get things back on track.
Need to get more writers and more activities going.
USS Chernov
Commanding Officer: Travis Good
How is your ship looking overall? The ship is doing great and the Main SIM is progressing well. We are hovering over Klingon right now in a cloaked Romulan bird of prey that we stole. We have a lot of side SIMs going which as well are beautiful. We have a few problems with a couple Awols but we are working on those.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The two doctors just invented a new way of taking care of a brain tumor and are character building very well. They both have grown so much in character that it is an absolute pleasure to read.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. We need more people to join.
Executive Officer: Trinity Fister
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Many stepped away from STF to enjoy the holidays or take a much needed break, so we saw a lull in posting particularly toward the end of the month. Folks are starting to trickle back, and I expect most will be back at their norm by the end of next week. Most of the month, however, we had lots of activity in the MainSIM. I hope to encourage more SideSIMing in January.
MainSIM-wise, the Chernov is approaching Qo’noS, and an away team has been assembled to begin recovery efforts. Engineering is busy analysing an unusual artefact and medical recently completed a complex neurosurgery! I anticipate everyone will have lots of opportunities for involvement in the MainSIM this next month. :)
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Similar to what I noted for the DH team, our JO team had a normal month except for slower posting near the end of December. Ric and David continue to be superstars! At the risk of repeating what I already said (sorry haha), we have JO representation in the Qo’noS, engineering, and medical threads, so I expect those to continue (and hopefully be more engaging) in January. Similarly, I hope to encourage character exploration as we enter a season where some are starting new semesters, getting back into work, etc. and may need a little extra time to get back into the groove of things.
Who is the shining star this month? Travis Good has been the glue that holds the crew together. He’s the storyteller behind our current SIM (and Captain? Respect.) and the one we can go to with our wildest ideas, questions or just to chat. He’s helped make our little crew feel like a neighbourhood in a larger community and I couldn’t be more grateful. :)
Gamemaster: No report submitted
FComm’s Comments: Chernov is doing great. Travis is doing amazing as Captain and GM. The ship really looks him. Will be connecting with CO to see if anything else is needed.
USS Saracen
Commanding Officer: David Shotton
How is your ship looking overall? The Saracen is looking good with a full roster of great people, and after our Christmas break has begun to get into the swing of posting with only a few people still to catch up. I’ll be touching base with these people over the next few days to see how they are doing after the break.
We have a brand new GMT in Sam Haynes on the Saracen, and I am really looking forward to what Sam can bring to the ship knowing that she is a strong and creative writer. Welcome Sam and I am so pleased you agreed to do your GMT Sim with us! Also, thank you to our wonderful GM Director.
We also recently welcomed Ray Branch and Mika Jackson to the ship, great writers both! 2399 is set top be a great year with a great crew and plenty of writing ability on the ship.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Jennifer Ward and Nicole Cline smashed out a huge thread over December and kept themselves busy on the ship, their thread ‘Not My Area of Expertise’ clearly something they both enjoyed writing together.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Hopefully over the next month we can launch into our new GMT’s sim with most of our crew back on deck.
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: Sam Haynes
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Saracen afloat on a standard patrol cruise between Betazed and Cardassian space has received a distress call. Audio only. The ship, the S.S. B’hari, a simple freebooter and cargo hauler, claimed they were under attack. The details are garbled and the transmission quality was scrambled but the signal strong, before it went offline. The Saracen, being called on for aid as the closest ship is duty-bound to respond with no other concerns of note at the moment.
Heading into the very borderlands of Federation space, is this a rescue operation or a salvage operation? What has happened to the B’hari? Who, or what, is responsible? It seems they are not the first ship to disappear in this area. Will the Saracen be next?
The Saracen will arrive shortly and the real hunt begins. What waits in the darkness and silence of the void?
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Honestly, everyone has done a bang-up job. Lots of people asking good questions, good prompts for information. People taking initiative. Great engagement overall. Both a GM’s dream and a GM’s nightmare. The latter because they force us to go places we hadn’t planned. :D
FComm’s Comments: Saracen is doing ok. Will work with CO this month to see what we can do to make it better and fill in the blanks where needed.
USS Sentinel
Commanding Officer: Matt Bongiorno
How is your ship looking overall? The ship is looking solid overall. There are a couple of AWOLs, but they are excused due to real life circumstances and we are just now coming out of the holiday period. A few crew members are coming back from vacations from being with their families, so understandable.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The main sim.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I look to see the ship continue to push forward with a bit more activity coming out of the holiday season.
Executive Officer: Nicole Cline
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Everyone is participating in the main sim as there is activity for them to participate in. They are creating their own side sims as needed.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our JOs really are the heart of Sentinel. They are few but mighty and are excellent writers and it is a joy to read what they write. They are participating actively in the main sim and side sims they have created.
Who is the shining star this month? It has to be our CMO. In the main sim he has to deal with a horrendous child that BITES. He and his JO are working hard to get her examined and keep themselves safe as well. Lieutenant Junior Grade Alwyn Yarwood (CMO) and Ensign Iris Avarak (doctor) https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/sentinel/posts/196302/
Gamemaster: Robert Archer
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Pretty slow month, and not much to say on sim progress, between myself and much of the rest of the crew not much sim progress occurred.
That said the security and medical groups are busy helping out with the colony while on the ship itself the Sentinel crew still plot on how to deal with the strange intruder hiding in an asteroid.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?
FComm’s Comments: Will be working with CO to see how we can pick things up and get the AWOLs back on track.
Overall we’re doing ok. Holidays got the Fleet as much as every other Fleet. Will use February to get back on track, fill holes, and drive deeper into the ships and their needs.
New year, new Sims and new characters. Looking forward to getting more character building that’s on the ships and more interactions outside the Sims.
Will also be filling holes, recommending promotions and helping COs better line up their ships.
Looking forward to 2023 being another amazing year in the Meridian Fleet
