The Foremost Fleet Report - January 2023
USS Ark Angel
Commanding Officer: Robert Archer
How is your ship looking overall? Overall the Ark Angel is doing much better then last month. We were able to finish our sim and are currently preparing to roll into the next one sometime next week. Currently the crew is active in side sims and getting adjusted to promotions, and new folks coming aboard.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’d like to hit the ground this coming month running in getting more blood on the ship (the good fresh kind!).
Executive Officer: Mika Jackson
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We just had a sim end. Our engineering, security, and medical department heads did an amazing job with sim interaction. We kind of lost the CSO, but she did reach out and inform us that she was having RL issues. Also, shout out to the Counselor, Marlaa, played by Melissa A. who really stepped up as the second officer. I enjoyed seeing Melissa’s writing in this sim and I think it proves that she is an amazing writer and roleplayer when the effort is put in.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The JO’s did amazing. Chris Huskins and Amdirgol were superstars in the sim. I was happy to see their characters’ personalities show through in the story and they did an amazing job in keeping up with the sim. I would like to also welcome our new medical officer Thomas Buckingham played by Steve Alliss.
Who is the shining star this month? I think the shining star award has to go to Melissa for the most improved participation. Her writing in the sim showed that her character had the leadership and the mentality to move through tough situations. Her writing also included a lot of detail that visually represented how her character was feeling and gave the reader a great sense of actually being there in the situation with her.
Gamemaster: Robert Archer
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The main sim has wrapped up and the next sim is in the works to launch sometime by mid-next week. The sim wrapped up with the Ark Angel crew able to rescue the stranded Volograd and bring the Forseth Republic’s system back into normal temporal phase with the rest of the galaxy and drive off the strange temporally subspace dwelling snake creature.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? TBH everyone on the Ark Angel did great this past sim and month. Especially with my slow downs due to life and work. I especially want to call out the great work my XO Mika Jackson is doing in supporting me on the back side of STF to keep things running smoothly on the ship.
FComm’s Comments: The Ark Angel still seems healthy. Though the previous month has left her with only 75 in character posts, down from 105 the previous month. It seems the turn of the new yearhas had it’s own effects.
The Command Crew of the Ark Angel are on track and engaged. The ship is lacking a Chief Science Officer. It seems she could use at least one security JO. The ship is all green across the board and otherwise seems healthy.
USS Asimov
Commanding Officer: Sage Pennington
How is your ship looking overall? We’re doing well. The sim is moving into its next phase, and that should be exciting. We look forward to seeing what James has in store. Still on the hunt for a CSO, but I’m optimistic we’ll find someone soon.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The captain punched the CMO straight in the face. He deserved it too.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would like to see a CSO, and maybe some JOs before next month
Executive Officer: Riley W
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Generally most of the DHs are active and participating. There was some struggle with the main sim recently, but I think we’ve gotten past that.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We do not have any JOs.
Who is the shining star this month?
Gamemaster: James Sinclair
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Asmiov (now the ‘Rabid Pelican’ is fully immersed in their cover of mutineers-turned- marauding pirates. They are about to embark on the their most difficult and dangerous cover mission yet: abducting a pair of black marketeers from a high-security luxury yacht owned by the Orion Syndicate.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? The CO and XO have done a great job of motivating the crew when things stalled a little bit around the holidays.
FComm’s Comments: Tensions aboard are heating up once again. The crew wrestle with their conflicts, choices, and consequences. The Asimov stands at 102 posts in the last thirty days, showing a marked increase. We have a full compliment of department heads, save for a CSO. It’s not as big a concern for this sim, so far, as this one is more cloak (literally) and dagger. It would be wonderful to see more JO’s aboard the Asimov.
If you’re looking for a ship full of great writers and storytellers, who can really crank up the drama and tension without going overboard, this is a good place. And even for a slow ship, everyone is pretty active. They welcome all, and are always up to collaborate. She might be a small ship, but she is certainly not ‘little’.
USS Leviathan
Commanding Officer: Mika Jackson
How is your ship looking overall? January was a slow month for the Leviathan. There were a lot of AWOLs, I had to send a notice to a few folks. I lost a couple as a result. In any case, I’d rather have a ship full of active writers/players than a ship full of inactive players. Right now we are looking fine. There are a couple of people hidden on the roster.
I want to welcome Shaun Tee to the ship. He has accepted the role of the Chief Tactical Officer. His character Mown Gworl is interesting and I foresee a lot of great writing happening with this new addition to the ship.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The ship was slow-moving this month, but I had a few great interactions. The first was with Dave’s character in Sickbay: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/198555/. I am excited to get this opportunity to roleplay with one of Dave’s characters. His engineering character is knowledgeable and logical. The other interaction I have enjoyed was with Shaun Tee’s character, Mown Gworl. After much poking and prodding I finally got Shaun to join the Levi and I am not disappointed. Here is the thread we created on the ship: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/199941/. Finally, I really enjoyed this sim with Tom L: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/199424/, I am definitely starting to see the development of his character in this thread also I realized that he is great at playing NE/secondary characters. I am eager to get him into more action roles because I see a great roleplayer who has not gotten the opportunity to fully show his potential yet.
As you can see I really enjoy 1:1 interactions a lot. I am really looking forward to the newly created thread with the ship’s counselor played by Lori.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Player interest and AWOLs are a big issue. I think over this next month I am going to run my own sim to get things moving and get the players/writers on the ship engaged. We haven’t had a sim or plot to take off since I have been CO. I am looking to change that and get these players involved in a mission that is worthy of being on a ship such as the Leviathan .
Executive Officer: Sage Pennington
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? We’re bringing in new people as a part of rebuilding. The adjustment to the setting takes some time but people seem to be adapting and participating.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our crew is doing its best to create an active and creative environment.
Who is the shining star this month? I think, well deserved applause to our CO for all the recruiting and hard work she did during this past month.
Gamemaster: No report submitted
FComm’s Comments: So, the Leviathan had 138 in character posts, almost exactly the same as last month. The ship is mostly in the green, and while there’ve been some awols and losses the roster is overall healthy. She could use a security JO. Any interest in joining the fleet’s spookiest ship?
The command team are doing an excellent job. the Leviathan is not an easy beast to command and she thirsts for blood, but Mika and Sage have made me proud of all they have accomplished so far. Long live the Leviathan. Long may she rule the void and swim the stars.
USS Manhattan
Commanding Officer: James Sinclair
How is your ship looking overall? The Manny is maintaining alright. We are slow at the moment with some players having RL commitments that keep them from posting regularly. We had 80 posts in December and 85 in January. Holidays are typically a slow time for the ship, so I am not overly concerned with the posting level right now.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The thread with the XO and Counselor learning starship tactics is quite enjoyable, if I do say so myself.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Increase posting up to the Manhattan’s norm of a hundred-plus per month, and help the Main Sim get moving along a bit more regularly.
Executive Officer: Jennifer Ward
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Post holiday Real Life has reared its head, but the main sim is picking speed back up and Gene always has plenty for everyone to do. There are a couple of AWOLs that James and I are aware of and we are working with those crew to get back on track.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have new JOs! Well returning JOs that have jumped right back into the fray. We are still looking to fill out our ranks in all departments.
Who is the shining star this month? I have really enjoyed Riley’s return and the comical banter between the returning engineer and our captain.

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Just when one thinks that things are on a straight path plot wise, something happens. In this case, the sudden presence of a contingent of armored soldiers from the City of Bakkalan, home of the Crimson Hegemony, came through the portal that was within the temple, firing seemingly indiscriminately and killing or injuring many, including Thera and Reauna. Once the initial flurry of their establishing a beachhead in the temple was done, the firing ceased. Captain Cochrane, shouting over the tumult, sought to establish dialogue. One of their number, Morta, self named ‘Speaker of the Dead’ indicated their travel was one way and their objective was information in order to establish ‘Balance’, the bringing of the cities together lest everything be destroyed through increasing temporal imbalances. Scientist Reauna, however, disagreed, saying that their plan would be the annihilation of universes.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Not ME! Having come down with a nasty head cold .. but James, our stalwart CO has been doing splendidly in keeping things on track.
FComm’s Comments: Activity this month is a little higher with 79 posts up from 64 of last month. We have a full roster of department heads, however, junior officers are coming up a bit short. For the most part he ship isin the green, so James and Jen have been doing a good job of keeping the Manny on track.
Not sure what is going on with the main sim there, but by description it seems like a wild ride. The Manhattan is another ship full of talented writers and promises to never be dull. Throw your hat in with the Manhattan if you’re looking for another good place to join and write some juicy stories.
USS Memorial
Commanding Officer: Kirt Gartner
How is your ship looking overall? We are currently rebuilding our roster and hoping to finish our sim up rather quickly we still need a new XO but I have interviewed one candidate and am accepting applications until the 15th of this month
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? a Side sim i have started with Nicole!
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Continue improving the roster and get the ship back in shape as well as Find an XO who is active enough to pick up my slack if and when i run into trouble and cant spend as much time on the day to day for the Memorial as I would like
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: Sage Pennington
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Captain must decide the fate of a civilization descended from a Starfleet crew long thought lost. Should she abandon them, or offer them a chance to escape their automatic leader?
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Sam Haynes, who did her best to help me steer the sim back into action.
FComm’s Comments: The Memorial has been in troubled waters for some time. However, activity is up with 71 in character posts within the last 30 days. With over 300% improvement in the ship’s posting rate, I’m happy to report she seems to be coming out of the shallows. Keep the ship out of the surf and spray lest she veer to the side and plunge all into destruction.
The Memorial is green across the board, except for a couple LOAs and of course a missing XO. But this is in the works. It seems Kirt is still looking for a partner to help keep the Memorial to it’s standard as the honor guard of the Foremost Fleet.
So very happy with the progress made in the last thirty days, but we still have a ways to go.
SS Sojourner
Commanding Officer: No report submitted
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: Robert Archer
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Sojourner plows along, the first team is exploring their caves currently using a drone unit to explore some tunnels seemingly made by a subterrain primitive culture. Two team is currently doing their own cave mapping looking for traces of possible dilthium.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?
FComm’s Comments: The Sojourner had a hysterical 275 in-character posts in the last thirty days, almost doubled from last month. I dunno what is in the water over there but can we have some in the rest of the fleet? It seems that there’s a fairly full roster aboard, but the Sojourner can always use a few more. For the most part the roster is in the green, except for a couple of AWOLs, one of which is very outstanding.
No CO or XO reports filed/submitted at the time of this report. Neither are excused.
Fleet Commander’s Final Thoughts - The Foremost Fleet continues to be an impressive bunch. The Boat that Rocks would have to be the Sojourner. But the Memorial shows incredible growth and improvement. Everyone is continuing to roll up their sleeves and put in excellent work all around. Couldn’t be more proud. A look forward to the next thirty days.
Strive not for perfection, but excellence.
