The Pioneer Fleet Report - January 2023

USS Athena

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

How is your ship looking overall? The Athena is looking much better since last month. Sage has taken over as the GM of the Athena and the sim is starting off on a solid note. I think the crew is ready to get their feet soaking wet.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The main sim bridge thread has been solid as we get started into this new sim! Great work Sam, Linds, James, Janice, and Sage!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. The sim is really kicking into gear. I don’t have any high goals aside from really digging in to it. Once things really pick up, we’ll come back to this question. ;)

Executive Officer: Sam Haynes

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?DH’s are active all over the place, main and side sims.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Eh, some. Not as much as I’d like, and we’ve got one out on LOA. But overall, they’re in okay shape for now.

Who is the shining star this month? Had to pinpoint. Linds is a busy beaver as always. With Sage taking the stage as our new GM, they’re doing a great job moving stuff along. Joshua M isproviding all sorts of activity. The rest of the crew has all rolled up their sleeves and jumped in. Everybody has been trucking along.

Gamemaster: Sage Pennington

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Athena has discovered a ship that doesn’t seem to belong where it is near a phenomenon dripping with chronitons.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Honestly it’s hard to pick one crew member. Everyone jumped in on the new sim and immediately became active and enthusiastic participants.

AFComm’s Comments: Activity is really picking up compared to last month! No concerns here. Congrats on the new job Tony!

USS Atlantis

Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill

How is your ship looking overall? The ship is doing well. There are a few AWOL’s but I am in contact with the individuals. They should be up and running soon once real life slows down. The main sim appears to be wrapping up. The away team has made a critical discovery that the door to the structure on the side of the volcano opens with Darkness DNA.

The side sims continue with those writing in them demonstrating the creativity and originality to make amazing stories.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Easy Bake Oven for the win. I am so excited to have Tyra back on the Atlantis as the CMO. I adore her creativity and energy plus she is just so much fun to write with.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. As always try and create a place where writers can express their creativity, and originality and pursue the stories they want to tell.

Executive Officer: Gene Gibbs

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Main sim is principally two threads which has as many people as we’ve been able to stuff into them. I’m happy to say that between that and a still lively side sim, that the crew is doing very well in participation and activity. Yay to you all!!

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our JO’s are few and far between, and have had better days for presence. One is on LOA and the other two rather missing for the moment.

Who is the shining star this month? Kate for her keeping things together really well.
Jennifer Ward for her characterizations which are well thought out and interesting to read

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: January saw the crew returning back to posting limits and the addition of a new CMO. Glad to have you back Tyra.

Kelly and Tenzig continue the scientific analysis of a piece of debris with an odd radiation signature.

On the planet, the team has just learned that the most feared entity in this sector of space either built or destroyed the building the away team is surveying.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

Again Mr. Gibbs for the keeping things moving on the away mission.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Involve more of the crew in the main sims

AFComm’s Comments: CO hit it right on the nail! A few AWOLs that need tending to, but everyone has a place to post :)

USS Chimera

Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul

How is your ship looking overall? We could be better. We’re still struggling a bit with AWOLs, I’ll continue to address them this month and keep them as clear as I can. It may mean some changes will be coming to the Chimera, but my goal in February is to keep the roster green. That will probably lead to some changes on the ship, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? It was a fairly slow month, but I have to give props to those participating in the main simm.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I have two things to focus on. Taming the AWOLs and recruitment, which I already have a plan underway for that, so it’s just a case of executing it.

Executive Officer: Kieron Hoult

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?I have to give it up to both the Department Heads and Kirt, our amazing GM for keeping me in line over the course of this brilliant SIM, I am aware of some slight blunders I have made over the course of this SIM which I intend to learn from as we move forward. I also intend to get the ship back up to the posting speed I know it can achieve by encouraging a ship wide increase in the number of side sims we produce.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We had the immense pleasure of welcoming two new Security officers to the Chimera in the last month, Ensign Scott Gallahan played by Steve Aliss and Ensign Setsuna Fujioka played by Nathan Derricot. They have not had chance to get involved in the meat of this sim, but I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with them in many main AND side sims going forward.

Who is the shining star this month? I have to give a particular shoutout to Mika Jackson’s Lieutenant LeKeitah Naisyr for the incredibly hard work she has done over the course of the Chimera‘s Main Sim. Her particular talent for driving the story forward, even when the XO is having the occasional lapse in common sense has really impressed me. I look forward to seeing her growth as a character as this ship and her crew move into the future.

Gamemaster: Kirt Gartner

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Chimera has been assigned to find a Primitive Species observation team that has gone dark while on assignment an away team has beamed down in disguise and have found the Local Rebellion which has helped the away team get to the location where the team is most likely located! we are in the home stretch!

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? None at this time

AFComm’s Comments: Kate and the team have done a fantastic job keeping the board active! I don’t have any concerns here, besides the 1 DH that is labeled as iLOA. Otherwise, the Chimera is looking great!!

USS Ogawa

Commanding Officer: Calé Reilly

How is your ship looking overall? The owie is ticking over as we get into our new sim. We have some awesome side sims and character development plot lines going on which is amazing to read and showing some great connections between past events and the characters themselves. A few awols still while people get their feet under them again and some new members joining the ranks makes things exciting for what’s to come.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Too many to choose but I will absolutely spotlight the amazing long sim thread with Amber and Linds that has come to a conclusion in epic proportions and the great character relationships between characters across the board!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’m still getting back into things and catching up with everyone. By next month I’d like to see everyone posting regularly again and our sim progression alongside that

Executive Officer: Lindsay B

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? We’re sorting out some LOAs where people haven’t yet returned and some AWOLs, but most people are present and posting. the sim is just reaching a point where more people can get involved and others are involved in side sims. It’s been a tiny bit quieter than what I would say is the norm for the ship, but we’re still doing better than the last couple of months.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Much the same as the DHs, we’re trying to figure out who is actually still with us. And I’m hoping to not only see people getting into the main sim but working on character development. We don’t have a lot of JOs so that will be a recruiting focus.

Who is the shining star this month? James and Jenn continue to provide excellent side sim reading. And Brandon is really helping led the way forward with the sim.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: A few AWOLs, but the Ogawa seems to be chugging along seamlessly :)

Another great turnout for report submissions, I think we are only missing 1 this time around…not bad! :) COs/XOs appear to be engaged with the health of their rp environment and have acknowledged, and in most cases, corrected any issues they may have on their board. AWOL levels are down this month, compared to last. Let us keep up the momentum.
