Starfleet Academy Report - January 2023
It was a quiet month at the admin level for the Academy. That was partly my own choosing, feeling a little burn out in RL. However, I am looking to start some meaningful conversations about the content we have in courses, particularly the drafts that Cale has created. I’m just figuring out logistics because I think we should not doing more than one course at a time, but that being said we can probably come up with a rough schedule for them all.

USS Challenger
Commanding Officer: Steve Johnson
How is your ship looking overall? The Challenger has definitely seen better days. Coming out of the holidays we had two DH’s disappear on us, and we’ve had to remove them. I’m currently looking for replacements to those two spots. Add in the fact that we’ve had no new members in a bit, well it’s slow.
However, we are recovering well! Linds is posting when she can around her RL stuff, and it’s keeping the simm moving forward. And I’m hoping to get a next round of cadet evals done in the next month.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Really enjoying the work going on as we try not to blow up Jupiter Station!
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Posting, posting, posting. We were a bit slow to get back up to speed after the holidays, but I’d like to keep the momentum we have going into February!
Executive Officer: Mika Jackson
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Unfortunately, we lost two DH’s (Engineering and Science) this month after multiple attempts to contact them and no response. The other two DH’s have been doing great with keeping active in the sim. Both are involved in side sims and we are seeing some great character development happen in those.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our JO’s are doing great. They are moving along in the sim as its reaching its peak. Also seeing some great character development happen there.
Who is the shining star this month? No particular person this month, however just want to say everyone is doing great.
Gamemaster: Lindsay B
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The cadets are trapped in the special lab with Commander Rice (Jupiter Station’s XO) and Commander Greene (a researcher). In trying to demonstrate a small part of his experiment, something went wrong and the lab went into containment lockdown due to a radiation leak! They are trying to stop it but the shielding isn’t working properly and they don’t have a lot of time before it fails.
Meanwhile, the CMO the station’s COO who has revealed that he’s moonlighting with Intelligence to track down a possible saboteur and this incident is likely their work. As they rush to the scene to help fix the problem, the question remains: who is the saboteur?
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? A big thank you to our Cadets Jeremy and D for keeping things moving inside the lab, and a big hat tip to ShaunTee and Mike propelling different parts of this sim forward. It’s much appreciate and bene a lot of fun.
FComm’s Comments: No major concerns for the Challenger, though I would really love to see some more cadets though we are really at the mercy of marketing and bringing in new faces. The crew is still struggling a bit to get over the December hump, but they’re headed in the right direction so they just need to keep it up.
