Starfleet Academy Report - February 2023
The security course debate continues, it’s been pretty quiet though so I’m thinking there’s not a lot of issues with it, beyond the usual checking grammar and the like. I’ll leave the discussion open a bit longer, anyone wanting to partake, jump on this link here:

For now, we’re just going to wrap up the term. I will prepare an information packet for the next term, mainly I’d like the course discussions to continue and I would like to see the updates come to fruition. There’s not a lot of other major concerns with the department and no concerns about the Challenger, so I think we’re in a good place. We could be further along, but we’re moving in the right direction.

USS Challenger
Commanding Officer: Steve Johnson
How is your ship looking overall? Overall the ship has looked better. We’ve had a couple of DH’s disappear on us at the end of January, and between work and a planned vacation, I was not able to address those vacancies in February. I hope to get these spots filled ASAP.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Posting and getting the senior staff back to full strength. We have been short on applications recently, but I want to get the Challenger in a position where we can easily accommodate new apps when they come.
Executive Officer: Mika Jackson
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We were down two DHs for the month but the two we had for medical (Shaun Tee) and science (Gavin Burkhardt) did great! Both have actively participated in the main Sim. One thing that I think can be improved is that they both can start creating some side sims for thir cadets. I would love to see DHs be more involved and interacting with the cadets. I believe this will promote more creativity and hopefully open more lines of communication between the two.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The JOs have been doing well. As of the day this report was filed, there was one in AWOL status.
Who is the shining star this month? This month I want to reconize everyone on the Challenger. Everybody has contributed and the ship has been mostly green throughout the month. Proud of all the writers on the ship.
Gamemaster: Lindsay B
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Never say tours are boring! On Jupiter Station, the time is ticking down on the radiation leak in Dr. Greene’s experimental lab. With the lockdown procedures in place, Cadet’s Black and Brecker are stuck in there with Green and Commander Rice, Jupiter Station’s XO. But in finding sabotage to a key power exchange within the experimental chamber, Brecker has been instructed to go against what they previously thought was the necessary solution and cut the power to one side. Will it shut things down or blow up in their faces? We’re about ti find out.
Tick.
Tick.
Tick.
Meanwhile, on the Challenger’s bridge, the Rodier’s attempt to use his security codes to access the Station’s feed has mysteriously failed. After his earlier cryptic warning, is this more of the same or something else entirely?
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? I have to give a big round of applause to D Inman for being an active driver and tossing ideas forward even if they don’t work. And the interplay with the XO, CMO and new CNS with Commander Russo delights me to no end. Thank you for helping me keep things going.
FComm’s Comments: We’ve gotten a few new cadets which is fabulous. I have no concerns whatsoever about the Challenger, the crew appear to be fine and I trust that the command crew will address anything that crops up. Keep up the fantastic work Challenger crew!!
