The Pioneer Fleet Report - March 2023
USS Athena
Commanding Officer: Tony Findora
How is your ship looking overall? March was an overall slow month. We are chugging along well enough. Time has been short due to incoming holidays and plans for spring.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I love seeing the interactions in the main sim as the away team tries working together.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Posting overall. And I am fully aware that it starts with me.
Executive Officer: Sam Haynes
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have a few AWOLs and LOAs, but most of the AWOLs are short, and I expect them to clear up as people make time to post. Otherwise, our DH’s are posting all over the place.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Not as much as I would like. I think I may need to speak with our department heads and see what we can do to drum up activity.
Who is the shining star this month? Sage and James, the former for providing us with a very intriguing sim and Hammor (James) has provided some brilliance that has allowed us to start unraveling this mystery. Props to Faye (Linds) for her historical and emotional connection to the sim, especially as a CIO, which is a difficult role to pull off.
Gamemaster: Sage Pennington
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The USS Athena has discovered a ship that seems to be from the future drifting out of an anomaly in space. The more contact occurs between the two- the stranger the whole thing seems.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? James Sinclair who creatively invented a way to communicate with the crew of the other ship.
FComm’s Comments: A few AWOLS, but the command staff are on it :)
USS Atlantis
Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill
How is your ship looking overall? The Atlantis is chugging along with 239 posts for the month of March. As usual Luke is doing a fantastic job as a gym creating a story that is engaging and fun to post with each installment as the saga unfolds. Most of the crew have at least one side sim they are participating in which spotlights their creativity and roles on the ship.
There are a few AWOLs and LOAs but nothing for unexpected reasons.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Jen Ward and James Sinclair. They have written a story that is a blast to read and utterly engaging. I personally loved the part about matching shirts and I think Kelly might make it a standard uniform for Cara and Gravel. Check the post out. You will be happy you did.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would like to find more writers on the ship to give the RP’er’s on the ship a more dynamic writing place. If you have an idea the gangplank is down and you are welcome onboard.
Executive Officer: Gene Gibbs
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Luke continues to throw tantalizing mysteries in our path that makes us put our thinking caps on - from exploring an abandoned facility on an essentially dead world in a space littered with a nasty hostile species to examining a type of radiation that the computer has gone silent on.
We seem to be a slow ship, moving along in a slow but sure fashion in the sim with a good mix of a crew. I’m going to highlight Luke for his continuing ways of adding mystery to mystery and keeping us on our toes.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?
Who is the shining star this month?
Gamemaster: Luke Hung
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Posting is getting back into the swing of things with most of the crew participating in the main sim or character development side sims.
Kelly and Tenzig have discovered the radiation coming off the piece of debris has a reversing effect compared to normal which mean things heal instead of decay in its presence. At the moment the small iota of reverse radiation is not beneficial but it is being analyzed further by the ships computer.
On the planet, the team is debating what sentient species ran the base and have discovered they are part of the Darkness via DNA.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Ray Branch and Gene Gibbs continue to shine in the side sim, pressing the story forward for those to reply.
While not a main sim, Nathan Derricutt has shown amazing depth and introspection of his character River Styxx. It was fun posting with him. I enjoyed it
FComm’s Comments: Kudos to Luke for a cool sim!
Some AWOLs which Kate acknowledged above, but posting is steady on the board.
USS Chimera
Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul
How is your ship looking overall? Overall, we are okay. We’ve dropped a little this past month because of a switch in GMs and my own LOA, but it’s not terrible and I think we can rebound easily this coming month.
My crew are actually quite skilled at finding ways to stay active when they aren’t involved in the main simm, which is great, so I’m really just looking for more people who will just add to the fun.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I need a CE, CMO and CSO. I’d love some JOs as well for engineering, medical and science.
Rob will also be stepping down once he has finished up Kirt’s training simm that he was unable to finish due to real life constraints. I have some ideas on the GM front, so we will just see how things shake down.
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: Excused
FComm’s Comments: If anyone is interested in taking on the CE, CMO, or CSO position reach out to the Bee!
USS Ogawa
Commanding Officer: Excused, new to position
Executive Officer: Excused, new to position
Gamemaster: No report submitted
FComm’s Comments: Unfortunately, Cale had to step down for RL, but we wish her the best :) Linds has taken over as CO with James Sinclair as her XO! Reports for the new CO and XO are excused.
Overall: March has seen an increase in AWOL/LOA. Only 2 forgot to submit their monthly reports, which is a lot better than where we used to be. Whoever takes over for next term will want to focus on AWOLs. They seem to have become the norm, with many overlooking the frequent flyers.
