The Meridian Fleet Report - May 2023

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Unexcused

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Once the ship received their orders to find the missing weapons, the Genny remained at warp for a few hours before coming to a halt just on the edge of an asteroid belt. There was no immediate sign of wreckage or the missing ship. What the ship’s science station detected a fading warp trail headed in the opposite direction as the Olinski. The trail lead to two paths: one going from the Argolis cluster and the other to the Cardassian Union. The command crew is deciding which path to follow.

Everyone loves a good battlefield promotion

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: Unexcused

FComm’s Comments: I am concerned that 2 of 3 reports are missing this month, despite reminders being sent out. Posting is down, but for the most part everyone is active and there are both main sim and side Sims showing on the board. There is a very outstanding AWOL that the CO reported last month that they are looking for a replacement. The GM has a fun and intriguing sim going.

CO and GM reports not excused.

If you are looking for another ship, or like the idea of being on a carrier with fighter ships, check out the Olinski.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? Our ship is looking good overall. We did and still do have some AWOLS for the last few weeks but that is because of College finals. We will be hopefully starting the new month with fewer AWOLs. We are on a pony filled planet in the land of Equestria right now and are meeting up with the lands leaders. The XO seems to be in a little bit of a mess due to a transporter malfunction, but the others are being well taken care off. This SIM is a lighthearted mission because of all of the war and destruction that we’ve been doing lately. It will be a short SIM but fun.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I know I say it a lot but I love them all! We have a really great team of writers and although a small crew, one that is bonded by writing and love for the genre.

Our new Chief Weapons Officer is a top notch writer and a great addition to our crew!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. We need more JO’s and people in general. We try to do our best and we do our best, but it would be nice to have other people on our great ship!

Executive Officer: Trin S

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?DH activity picked up in May with our current MainSIM, where most are with the away team on the planet’s surface, attempting to uncover who these unusual natives are and what they want. We’re already a week into June and their engagement has been awesome - very much looking forward to it!

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Both of our JOs are active and involved! They’re part of the away team on the planet’s surface, and writing several SideSIMs across the board including a gym session, lunch and (as of last week) a jam session. I’m excited to see how these stories develop throughout June!

Who is the shining star this month? Alexander Hampshire and Ric A! They’re incredibly talented writers with boundless creativity that make their characters compelling, relatable, and fun to read. I’ve especially enjoyed their joint sideSIM: “Sparring in the Gym” (https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/chernov/posts/214808/).

Gamemaster: Self-Sim Ship

FComm’s Comments: Chernov keeps plugging along. They have an incredible group of writers. They are looking for JOs to help fill out the roster. Travis ans Trin are on top of providing plenty of opportunities for posting so the crew stays active. End of year finals slowed the ship down, but they are already picking back up.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

How is your ship looking overall? The Saracen is fairly slow at the moment, not helped by a few health issues on my end and the lack of an XO BUT, we have a fantastic writer returning to STF and the XO role aboard the Saracen. We have a great writing team, we just need a little more activity upping the numbers on those posts.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Ava Henson writing and exploring her Klingon Character, Charles-Louis. She’s having an interesting interaction with another Klingon in her medical check-in.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. The Saracens new XO is due to aboard very soon, and will be a welcome addition to the crew with his writing and a favorite Saracen character back on the books.

Executive Officer: Excused

Gamemaster: Sam Haynes

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Saracen, dispatched to investigate mysterious disappearances in the region, has found the remains of the latest ship, the S.S. B’hari. And it seems they were destroyed by a hostile Cardassian ship and weaponry. Dogged by something hiding in the mists, it’s now come to light that their ‘shadow’ is a Keldon-class cruiser. They’ve made communications contact, with our beloved Captain baring his fangs at this interloper. Is this the ship responsible for destroying the B’hari or a ‘friendly’ neighbor who is looking into something of their own, as they claim?

Stay tuned.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Hard to say. Been a slow month, and largely my fault.

FComm’s Comments: The Saracen has been slow and lost her XO due to real life demands. Dave has already found someone to fill the spot, the return of Terry Sullivan is greatly anticipated. Sam’s GMT is going well with plenty of mystery, puzzles, and bad guys to keep the crew motivated and entertained.

XO report excused

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Jennifer Ward

How is your ship looking overall? Sentinel is okay over all. April had 210 and May 112 posts. Things have really slowed down and there are some recurring AWOLs happening that I am working to get cleared up. Most are not too bad, just a day or so over the limit. Real life seems to be taking a toll this month. Hopefully with June things will swing back to normal activity. That being said we still cleared over 100 posts this month.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The medical team thread is just so amusing. The colonial medical director thinks she’s a superstar, and our own amazing officers are so obviously not impressed. It’s been a fun read.
Lt Charlie Bailey, CMO (Emily S)
Lt Thaddeus MacKenzie IV, Doctor (Brian Richards)
and
CockRoach, GM (Robert Archer)

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Get the Main Sim moving again. It has slowed to almost a complete stop with very little interest. My goal is to get this turned around and moving once again.

Executive Officer: Lucas Foxley

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DHs each have a thread in the main sim they’re plugging away at. I would like to see some more side sim activity from our DHs.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We don’t have too many JOs on Sentinel right now, those we do have I’d like to see some more activity from in general.

Who is the shining star this month? This month James is the Shining Star, with the main sim thread in which his character and Capt Rende seem to have no idea what diplomacy is and it’s hilarious.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Sentinel is doing pretty well I think this past month. Sim wise the CO is meeting with the governor giving him the nth degree on his seemingly sloppy security happenings. The Security team is helping in the forests, medical is meeting the head medical lady to learn more about going ons, engineering is meeting with a engineering colony chief about power problems, and on the ship the crew is looking through the odd stealth ship.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Sentinel is moving along. There were some hick-ups with the sim but they seem to have figured out where to go and what to do now.

Sentinel is losing her GM due to real life demands at the end of this sim. If you like TOS and would like to run a sim in that Era please reach out to me, Linds, or the Sentinel command team.

The command crews are all active IC on their ships. A couple of concerns OOC were noted above, as well as the unexcused and excused fleet reports.

The Chernov is the Shinning Star this month.
