The Foremost Fleet Report - May 2023

USS Ark Angel

Commanding Officer: Robert Archer

How is your ship looking overall? Overall ship is looking good. Had a bit of a hiccup when my former XO left with my blessing to go be the XO on the Merrimack to help out there. I feel its a good move for them and the Merrimack. Thankfully after a bit of searching I got a replacement XO and am currently bringing them up to speed on their new duties and the like. DH wise we still need a CSO but are searching, some JOs would be nice too but again are looking. Sim wise the crew is helping out on the colony, with one group fighting some native ‘super’ wolves, another group meeting the locals, the engineering group fixing the orbital comm array, and the CO just chilling on the bridge observing.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Continue mentoring my new XO, fill the CSO spot, and ideally get at least 1-2 eng jos or more.

Executive Officer: D Inman

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?I am still new to the ship, in my few days or so onboard I have seen that all of the DHs are active and engaged in the layering main sims. As of writing this post however unfortunatly, I do have to say that the CO & GM is currently AWOL. With his taking the time out of what I’m sure is a very busy schedule, I can’t fault him as it is only a day or so. With him taking me on as a completely new XO and the few other ships he is on, I have no doubt he will turn it around soon. The ship however is in a continued persuit for a CSO. If anyone would be interested, they could reach out to Rob or myself.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have a few JOs and they all seem to be mostly active and participating. As of writing this report it is unfortunate that there are two JOs that are currently AWOL. We are reaching out to them to check in with them and make sure that they are okay.

Who is the shining star this month? I’m still new, so no one has been able to catch my eye for the month yet! But we may always look forward to the future and see what next month holds.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: See CO report

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: The Ark Angel had 75 posts, down from 84 of the previous month. The ship is still quite healthy and with acceptable ranges for a standard pace ship. At the time of this report, there’s a little red in the roster, which is unusual for the Ark Angel. But there is an excellent track record here for regular posting, and the AWOLs themselves are minor, or should clear up in the morning. So, I’m not particularly worried.

I was sad to see Mika depart as XO this month, but D Inman seems to be a promising, fresh-faced XO, quick on the ball, and motivated. I hope that D continues to grow, gain skills, and absorbs all they can from the Foremost Fleet. Carry on.

USS Asimov

Commanding Officer: Sage Pennington

How is your ship looking overall? We’ve got a full complement of DHs and a shiny new ship for them to play with. I’m optimistic for the Asimov.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The thread between the captain and Agent Blue has been a surprise in how it’s gone.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. Now having the DH roster sorted, I’d love to get some JOs in.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: James Sinclair

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Asmiov (formerly the ‘Rabid Pelican’) is fully immersed in their cover of mutineers-turned- marauding pirates… so much so that the Captain- in a stroke of sheer dedication to her cover- sold her ship to a mysterious stranger for a new ship and big ‘ol pile of latinum. Settling in to their new Tempest-class ship, the crew is about to embark on the their most difficult and dangerous cover mission yet: abducting a pair of black marketeers from a high-security luxury yacht owned by the Orion Syndicate. Will the new ship be a blessing? Or a curse? And will their next endeavor be their last? No one knows…

No seriously. I dunno. This crew takes things sideways a lot and keeps me guessing.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Sage has been key in not only keeping the crew on track, but making sure the new ship is ready to go. So hats off to the CO for making it move.

FComm’s Comments: In the last thirty days, as of this report, the Asimov holds at 104 IC posts, which is double what it has been for the last couple of months. Rather high numbers for a small, slow ship, but we welcome them with open arms. Despite this, at this particular moment, there’s a little more red in the roster than I would like. but I chalk that up to people being busy, and things falling through the cracks as the Asimov is still a slow ship. It never lasts though.

I’m wit James on this one. The Asimov crew does like to throw their own lemon twist on things now and again. That being said, this SIM is about to kick off into the next act/arc and it’s probably going to be a doozy.

USS Leviathan

Commanding Officer: Mika Jackson

How is your ship looking overall? My ship has been slow over the past month. However, it’s a new month and I have a plan to facilitate posting so activity will pick up. Despite a slow posting month, I did manage to grab two new writers. I want to welcome Jeremy Snyder and Steve Alliss to the ship. Steve will be our Containment Architech and Jeremy will be serving as an RTF Officer. I do need a CSO and some JOs would be great.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? In the past month, I haven’t come across a specific thread that I found compelling enough to mention. However, I remain hopeful that this will change by the time I prepare my next report.

Additionally, I would like to give an honorable mention and express my gratitude to Kirt for volunteering to write a brief sim on the ship. It is intriguing to learn about the artifact being delivered to the Leviathan.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.AWOLs and writer engagement are always at the top of my list. Until those get under control I have no other focus.

Executive Officer: Sage Pennington

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We are one DH short of a completely active set.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The JOs we have are doing their best.

Who is the shining star this month? CO Mika Jackson

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: This month we’ve seen a return to February’s numbers with a strong showing of 126 IC posts, compared to 77 of last month. Despite this, I’m seeing a fair bit of red in the roster. That doesn’t sit well with me.

I will be reaching out for a powwow with the command team to see if we can clear some of this up.

Per the command team’s comments, the great beast Leviathan can always use new blood as it traverses through the heavens.

I have no further remarks at this time.

USS Manhattan

Commanding Officer: James Sinclair

How is your ship looking overall? We are slow, but still maintaining. 130 posts isn’t terrible, but I would like to see us get back to at least the 200 mark we had in April. We have some decent side sims going, but the Main Sim has stalled a bit.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The interaction between the XO and the son of the Counselor is very heartwarming.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.More posts, and more crew. Also we need the Main Sim to start rolling again.

Executive Officer: Jennifer Ward

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The main sim has slowed this month, mostly due to real life demands on everyone. However, all of our DHs are active and engaged with side sims and where needed in the main sim. We have a sim update incoming, and that should get the sim back to full momentum after this short break.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? There are a couple of outstanding AWOLs lingering that James and I are working on. Otherwise the JOs are involved in the main sim and in several side sims around the ship.

Who is the shining star this month? I have really enjoyed this side sim between our new CE (Kara Iliana by Emily S) and one of our junior Engineers (Kaia by Riley W). Really fun and creative interaction, as well as a look at the everyday mundane of a ship’s engineers.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: As of the time of this report, the Manhattan had 88 IC posts, down from 202 of last month. It seems demands of real life have intruded this month and slowed the momentum on the Manhattan. At this time, there are three folks in the red. However, it may be just a lull in posting, and are only like a day over the mark. The ship is healthy overall and is functioning within normal parameters.

It could use a few more JO’s but overall seems to be in solid condition with a good senior staff. Carry on, but gimme a shout if you need some support.

USS Memorial

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Clayton Strong

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DHs seem to be doing well. The amount of AWOLs have dropped so thats a plus. The sim is still starting up but it seems the briefing went well.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have only 2 JOs on the ship. They seem to be doing well and I enjoy reading stuff from Mika’s JO on the memory.

Who is the shining star this month? All hail the new GM. The start of the sim is going well with a ton of details provided prior to actually starting. That was pretty awesome.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Ouch, the Memorial comes in with 38 posts this month, down from 76 last month and 45 the month before. There is more red in the roster than I am comfortable with. Yes, I’m a guilty party, and I should be fixing that shortly. I will reach out to our command team and see what we can do to improve the situation. Overall, the Memorial is still maintaining a mostly healthy posting rate. Real life may be playing a factor as other ships seem to be having similar difficulties. Will have to investigate.

SS Sojourner

Commanding Officer: Lucas Foxley

How is your ship looking overall? This was a really slow month with a lot of AWOLs. I’ve cleaned up the roster and James has switched from MACO to CoS. I still need a CE. I’ve spoken with the GM and the sim should start moving again. This was also a slow month for side sims which will hopefully change with less AWOLs.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/sojourner/posts/213720/

This thread by James was a really fun read.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Overall, I’d like to see more involvement from everyone, including myself and the rest of the command team. This month I want to see the main sim really get going and I’ll be working on side sim involvement as well.

Executive Officer: Steve Johnson

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?It was a rough May. We had two DH’s basically disappear on us, which we’ve now removed from the ship. Participation slowed down as we were waiting on some responses from the GM, and then other things happened, it just resulted in an overall slow down. Hopefully we can pick things up as we move into June.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?JO’s are doing better. Overall better participation, and staying active.

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Ship wise the Sojo is doing well I think. Sim wise the crew has all returned from the planet with samples, and the NEs are trying to start track down a strange alien insect invader in the air ducts. Hopefully they will be taking care of that and finishing their survey work and system work soon after.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Well, the Sojourner is at a solid 70 posts as of the time of this report in the last 30 days, down from 300+ of last month. Currently there’s a lot more red in the roster than I care for, but some of those are one day out and are from regular posters, so they should clear up immediately. The other more outstanding ones need to be addressed. Overall, the Sojourner is in a healthy posting state for a slow ship. It seems that RL is hitting the fleet across the board this month.

I will be in touch with the Sojourner command team as well. Other than that, no further comments.
