The Meridian Fleet Report - June 2023

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: No report submitted Unexcused

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The Olinski has found the ship with the weapons they were ordered to find. Scans have found that there are no life signatures and signs of Jem Hadar’s weapons fire. The Captain has sent an away team to the now derelict vessel. The away team has found the crew all dead as the scans indicated. They are now scanning a trio of doors to see if they are safe to open and to find out what is behind them.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? This is more a nod to Sidney Parker for working with the crew to get everyone involved in the main sim or a side sim for character development. He has worked extremely hard to increase crew engagement on the Olinski.

Who is the shining star this month? Continue to get the crew to post and make sure the main sim progresses.

Gamemaster: Sage Pennington

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Assigned to find some seemingly stolen experimental weapons belonging to starfleet, the Olinski has ostensibly accomplished it’s mission, but found the cargo ship wrecked with weapons marks from a Jem’Hadar vessel.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Andrea Roe, who’s been doing a thorough investigation of the interior of the cargo ship.

FComm’s Comments: I am concerned that this is the second month in a row there has been no report from the CO and no response at attempts to reach out by email. They are also down from ~ 70 posts last month to ~ 40 this month.

Olinski is in desperate need of crew. They are missing DHs, fighter pilots, and JOs across the board. Olinski has a long and honored history in the club. If you are interested in joining another ship or helping out please teach out to the command staff or myself.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? Looking good. We had some AWOLs and slow posting but those were do to college finals and Canada Day/Independence Day.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I really love the interaction between the XO and Kastarak.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. We need more JO’s!!!!!!!!!

Executive Officer: Trin S

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our DHs hit the ground running in June with SideSIMs and MainSIM involvement! We’ve have a couple of sparring sessions, shared meals, and jam sessions between DHs and JOs. The MainSIM is also progressing steadily, though I hope we can branch off and create more space for posting and writer creativity soon.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? With some much needed IRL breaks, our JOs’ posting lulled a little, but both have been a delight IC and OOC! They’ve been heavily involved in multiple SideSIMs and have put out some incredible posts throughout June. My goal is to find ways to involve them more in the MainSIM in July.

Who is the shining star this month? Our lovely crew! We’ve seen a lot of change in the past few months, but they’ve stayed consistent and optimistic through it all. I admire the artistry they bring to their characters. They know their characters and share with us the minutiae of their thoughts, interests and struggles that make them feel real. (And they are, of course, in our hearts.) I’m delighted I get to write with such a talent group of people. :)

Gamemaster: Self Sim Ship

FComm’s Comments: Chernov is a really special ship with great writers and rich character stories. Travis and Trin are doing a great job of keeping the crew motivated and having stories to be involved in. They need JOs.

There was some slow down due to the end of the school year, but things are picking back up.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

How is your ship looking overall? June was a quiet month for the Saracen, and with Shaun having to deal with some RL events lost our XO but, I am extremely excited and happy to welcome Terry Sullivan back to the Saracen, bringing his XO character Daniel Colter back to us.

As summer break began in the states so too did our sim slow down a bit as I was also pulled away on an LOA from an illness in my family, resulting in the ship going a little quieter. That’s nothing unusual for as long as I’ve been in STF June has always been slower.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I have no favorite moment on the ship but am instead going to shoutout to Ava Henson, Mika Jackson and Catt Bennett for their posting and activity, keeping their side sims moving along and writing their characters deeply and interestingly.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. Same as always, side sims and getting people developing their characters more.

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? All of the DH’s have been posting regularly in either the main sim or side sims. It’s been difficult for the main sim as out GMT was AWOL for awhile, causing the sim to stall. She’s back now so things should start to pick up again.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The Saracen currently has 2 JO’s (one of which is a secondary character of Dave’s. The other JO (played by Ava Henson) has been keeping busy taking part in a few side sims.

Who is the shining star this month? I have only recently returned to the XO’s chair after taking a break for a few months, so I haven’t seen a whole lot of anybody really standing out yet. We’ve got a great bunch of writers and I’m sure someone will be shing sooner or later.

Gamemaster: Sam Haynes

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Saracen, dispatched to investigate mysterious disappearances in the region, has found the remains of the latest ship, the S.S. B’hari. And it seems they were destroyed by a hostile Cardassian ship and weaponry. Dogged by something hiding in the mists, it’s now come to light that their ‘shadow’ is a Keldon-class cruiser. They’ve made communications contact, with our beloved Captain baring his fangs at this interloper.

Unfortunately things have not moved beyond this point over the last month as my head has not been in STF at all. But I plan to put nose to grindstone and get things moving again. I’d like to finish this sim in the near future.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? The crew keeping the Main Sim thread(s) going while I’ve been off in the boonies working on other stuff that has me by the face.

FComm’s Comments: Saracen had a rough month. The GM was away and the sim slowed, but everyone has returned. The crew kept busy writing their own compelling stories. Shaun had to step down as XO and I am so very excited to see that Terry has returned to his XO chair. Welcome back!

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Jennifer Ward

How is your ship looking overall? To be honest, Sentinel was simply maintaining this last month. We lost Rob due to real life and it took a bit for Lucas and I to get situated to continue our sim. However we did end the month having made some forward progress with the main sim.

On a positive note, Sage has volunteered to be our new GM! We are really excited to have her.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I have to say the Shore Leave thread to Risa, written by James has really been fun to read and participate in.
https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/sentinel/posts/217116/

Also Kieron as the kidnapped COS and his fist fight has been equally fun to watch.
https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/sentinel/posts/217348/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. Get the main sim moving. Either to finish our current one or the start of a new one. I just want to see some solid active participation on the main sim from everyone this coming month.

Executive Officer: Lucas Foxley

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? They all have an active thread. Medical is slow due to a major real life issue, but out CMO has returned, so that will improve.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our Yeoman is as ever active all over the ship. Out other JOs have had to take LOAs due to work constraints so we are short in JOs everywhere. We are actively looking for more.

Who is the shining star this month? Kieron Holt as our CoS Lt Anders. He has really put in a huge effort to move his part of the main sim this month.

Gamemaster: Between GMs. Excused.

FComm’s Comments: Sentinel had a bit of a rough month with the sudden departure of her GM. The crew really pulled together to help keep the sim going and their activity up while the command team worked out logistics. Sage P has volunteered to be her new GM and will be kicking things back I to motion very soon.

Are the fleet COs, XOs, and GMs active and participating, IC and OOC? There is one outstanding concern here, as mentioned above, but other than that the command teams are doing well.

Are there any unexcused fleet reports? One unexcused report from the Olinski again this month.

What ship is the shining star this month? The Saracen. Despite June being a slow month and the GM and CO being away due to RL, they kept busy and active. Great Job!
