The Meridian Fleet Report - July 2023

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: No report submitted - Exempt, new CO

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?MAIN SIM - The main sim is moving along with the away team on the ship the USS Olinski was looking for. The weapons appear to be gone but also a single crewman from the ship. The ship roster states there were 16 people but there are only 15 bodies the crew has encountered and a log stating one of the crew was beamed off.

SIDE SIMS-
Several side sims are continuing this month. Most are fun posts with character development for several of the crew. There is also a new Captain on the Olinksi so many of the side sims involve his arrival

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: Sage Pennington

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The USS Brian A. Olinski has been sent to investigate the seeming disappearance of a cargo ship, carrying experimental weapons. Upon locating the ship, they found all the weapons accounted for, but the whole crew has been killed, save for one who was taken from the ship.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Abigail G.

FComm’s Comments: The Olinski had a very hard month. Drops in posts, lack of activity, and lack of communication. A new CO has taken over and things are starting to move forward again. Welcome to Kieron as the new CO. I am sure the Olinski is in great hands! The Olinski is a fighter carrier and looking for writers for all departments and divisions.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? Good but been slow due to my film and other players commitments. But it should pick back up real soon. We welcomed back an older player, Christopher, that plays Sara Lovejoy.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? My talks with the Chief Weapons Officer and Kastarak. They were deep and great character buildings.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Need more JO’s!!!!!

Executive Officer: Trin S

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Due to some IRL obligations, I wasn’t around as much as I’d have liked in July, but I had the chance to check in here and there to see how folks were.

All said, the DH team is doing well! We’ve seen involvement in the MainSIM and SideSIMs with folks exploring their relationships, building rapports with their staff, and uncovering the mystery of lost loved ones.

There hasn’t been any unusual delays, though I expect August will bring some as folks get into the rhythm of work and school.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our JOs are also doing well! They’re involved in lots of SideSIMs in addition to the MainSIM that continue to develop their characters through their interactions and exploring the mosaic of identities that make them, them.

We also welcomed Christopher Logan back to the ship with his Engineer, Sara Lovejoy!

For both DHs and JOs, there have been a few new SIMs started in the beginning days of August that leave me excited for the month to come!

Who is the shining star this month? David Robinson Jr as Chief Engineer Pawl Batario is July’s shinning star! David is an incredible writer who never ceases to impress with his creativity, initiative and the little bit of him we see in his character. There’s been a lot of change in the Chernov’s Engineering Department this year and David has been incredible through it all. I admire his flexibility and passion for his writing. Well done, David!

I also want to shout out all of our crew (and across STF), who have accomplished incredible things IRL! From graduation to new jobs and new beginnings, there’s a lot to celebrate and I hope everyone finds time to celebrate themselves and their loved ones this year. :)

Gamemaster: No report submitted - Self Sim

FComm’s Comments: This ship continues to impress. Her crew is small, but they are mighty. (I might have said that before, but it is so very true!).

If you like the new movies, this is the ship for you. Full of welcoming and talented writers, reach out to Travis or Trin if interested.

IRW Rovarran

Commanding Officer: No report submitted - Exempt

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Exempt

Gamemaster: No report submitted - Exempt

FComm’s Comments: The Rovarran was only just commissioned a few days ago so everyone is exempt as the ship did not exsist in July.

I do want to take the time to say that Katy was really on the ball about getting her MOTD set up and her crew rostered and there is already activity on the boards. Welcome to Meridian Fleet!

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: No report submitted - unexcused

Executive Officer: No report submitted - unexcused

Gamemaster: No report submitted - unexcused

FComm’s Comments: Even after multiple reminders, there are no reports for this ship. I am concerned about that, and the fact that at the time of this writing 2 of 3 command officers are AWOL. One by a day which is probably just an accident. But the GM is getting ready to tick over at 20 days AWOL.

Reports are not excused.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Jennifer Ward

How is your ship looking overall? Sentinel is plodding along. The main sim slowed as we made the transition from losing Rob to me making a poor attempt to take over and then Sage coming to the rescue and saving us. Summer and life seems to have taken its toll on us as well. I wish I could say that we are all in the green, but we are not. However, none of the AWOLs are too far extended past time. It seems to be more an effect of the summer and getting back into a routine than anything major at the moment. I will keep an eye on it as the month moves forward.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I have really enjoyed this thread with the new captain and the CE on the ship. It has been a fun to interact and write with Hjortur. He is such a great writer and his characters are always so very vivid.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I really want to see this sim wrap up this month. That way we can move on to what Sage has planned for us and get back into the swing of exploring and TOS era antics.

Executive Officer: Lucas Foxley

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have a few AWOLs that are a little over the limit. I’d really to see more side sim involvement.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our JOs are doing okay, they have good involvement both in main and side sims.

Who is the shining star this month? I’m really liking this side sim by James and Jenn so I’ll put James for this month, for an excellent side sim read and interesting characters.

Gamemaster: Sage Pennington

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The USS Sentinel is investigating things that don’t quite add up to do with the colony Vok III.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Jenn Ward, constantly helping me keep things afloat.

FComm’s Comments: Sentinel slowed down this month as it made the transition from a GM to CO led to a new GM. It is always hard taking over someone else’s plot. Things are moving forward and there are some great side sims going on. I expect to see the Sentinel much improved in the coming month.

Fleet Status:

The command teams, except for noted exceptions above, are active and doing very well and keeping their ships moving and enjoyable places to write.

Missing reports were noted above.

The shinning star this month is the Chernov. Not only do they write great stories they really are a crew. Acknowledging both their writing and RP successes AND their Real Life ones as well. They exemplify what makes STF a great club.
