The Black Fleet Report - July 2023
USS Genesis
Commanding Officer: Luke Hung
How is your ship looking overall? MAIN SIM - Half the crew has been beamed off the Genesis by a man calling himself Ric Roc. The crew has woken up in a strange environment and have been assigned jobs such as mechanic, maid, and holovision repair man. In the last transmission the CO and the counselor have been taken off the bridge also. The XO, COS, and intelligence officer are left trying to trace the SOS signal that Ensign Kylie Brecker sent for them to be rescued.
SIDE SIMS-
Several side sims are continuing this month mainly dealing with mental health and character development.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf6/genesis/posts/220988/ Dagen Thor might have found a new career choice
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Hire some JO’s and find a GM
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: No report submitted
FComm’s Comments: The Genesis is staying active despite not having a GM. Unfortunately it looked like Russ was able to come back but sadly his real life situation has made that impossible. If anyone is able to help fill the GM role please reach out.
USS Merrimack
Commanding Officer: No report submitted
Executive Officer: Mika Jackson
How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Everyone is doing well as usual on the Merrimack. It’s slow moving but there are.a lot of Sims happening.
How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Everyone is posting and doing well.
Who is the shining star this month?
Gamemaster: Robert Archer
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Merrimack crew are currently preparing to meet with a representative of the higher plane beings known as the Ascended. To learn more about them and their impact upon the natives below and their ongoing experiments upon them.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?
FComm’s Comments: CO report is excused as he’s currently on LOA. The Merrimack cruising along nicely with a little increase in posts this month compared to last. Keep up the good work and having fun.
Oed V
Commanding Officer: James Sinclair
How is your ship looking overall? Colony is running really strong. We had 1,025 posts in July; so that is a solid uptick and brings us back to our previous levels. We have had some AWOLs and few people leave, but we are still running solid and the AWOLs are not problematic as of right now.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Trying to find a single moment in the colony per month is tricky. We have a lot a really good writers and they make the colony a robust environment all around.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. This month we are starting the actual introduction of the Vren, so I want to see everyone involved in that and not just sticking to their own story lines.
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: No report submitted
AFComm’s Comments: Despite several AWOLs, Oed is back to over a thousand posts in a month (1025 in the month of July). There are a lot of little plots and things going on as well as the Centurion and Vren sims still going. Overall Oed seems to be doing okay.
USS Wolverine
Commanding Officer: No report submitted
Executive Officer: No report submitted
Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs
Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Captain’s Log, Supplemental.
The Wolverine has been dispatched to a system called Myst, named after the gaseous proto clouds that surround the system and the star. The Myst system is home to seven worlds, three gas giants, two twin ice worlds, a rocky lump of a world that is more like a patchwork conglomerate of metal rich pieces, and the planet Myst. Home to currently no known intelligent species but having a unique eco-system under a layer of mist or fog that rises and lowers with the daylight, almost like a tide. Within these mists are ancient ruins that follow softer stone layers of the slopes of the mountainous landscape that is prevalent over the planet’s surface. This planet too holds a wealth of rare minerals and metals.
The Myst system is outside the Federation boundary and has had on and off claims on it set by the Federation, the Romulans and two other species - the Kien and the Wis. While it holds a wealth of minerals the dust proto clouds in the system do not react well to complex alloys and slowly break it down. Ships like the Wolverine are safe, however more permanent structures are not. Federation presence has been limited to survey vessels, archaeological and science teams. This is where we come in. A month ago the science and archaeological team that was on the planet failed to check in. A follow up ship, a small science surveyor, the Pythagoras, was dispatched and has not been heard from. The Wolverine is next to determine the fate of this ship and the first planetary team, headed by a Janine Carson, who is a cousin to my first officer, Commander Erin.
The situation is complicated by an on and off again war between the Kien and the Wis, neither having shown interest in joining the Federation. Data on each are limited and neither of their homeworlds have been visited by Federation diplomats. Both the Kien and the Wis claim the Myst system as theirs. Evidence from science teams suggests they have undertaken prospecting in the system, and, in one case a report of possible grave robbing of the alien crypts far down in the mists. Evidence also suggests that there have been land battles on Myst between the two parties, however, to date, Federation teams have been left alone.
We are approaching the Myst system now. Sensors have picked up the Pythagoras orbiting Myst, but with no life signs. We have also picked up Kien and Wis ship signatures inside the system, but farther out. It may be that they are playing cat and mouse with each other amongst the clouds, planets and planetoids dotting the outer system areas.
That was the sim intro. Since then several things have happened or come up.
1. The communication array on the Pythagoras was found to be damaged. There was no life signs aboard on an initial scan, however upon beaming over to the Pythagoras they discovered a number of things.
a. The crew were gone. Only one escape pod was jettisoned.
b. Everything looked ‘normal’ but for some things that looked out of place, such as in the lounge, as though they had been examined.
c. Captain’s Logs indicated that the Vulcan Captain had beamed the crew down to the planet but for himself and the medical officer who had been tending an injured Kein they had previously rescued.
d. Some Romulan DNA was also found in the sick bay among surgical tools.
e. A Sehlat was found alive in a crate with a large data cylinder.
On the ship, several things were in the works.
a. The Cylinder’s data, when plugged in had used a carrier wave communications handshake to connect remotely to the ship’s systems and downloaded its data to a holosuite. That was being checked out.
b. A probe sent out had detected what looked to be refined metal on an planetoid. A shuttle sent out to investigate confirmed that it was a Jem’hadar ship there that was in a state of deterioration due to the nature of the corrosive nature of the system on refined metal. It was also jammed in a rift with a cavern/tunnel beyond.
On the planet, the shuttle landed at a point not far from the detected campsite. It was abandoned when they came to it.
a. The subspace radio there was broken and the site looked like it had been disturbed but put together to look like it hadn’t.
b. Two Vulcans walked up from the mists farther down. They were in enviro-suits and identified themselves as scientists whose came was theirs. They are S’kath and T’Lae.
c. While talking with them another Vulcan appeared wearing a Starfleet uniform and Captain’s pips. He was seriously injured with a bad gash on his back. He was being treated.
Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Kudos for the whole crew who patiently/impatiently awaited my return from a rather extended leave .. thank you for having faith!
FComm’s Comments: The Wolverine has a few AWOLs and LOAs. Activity has dropped compared to last month. I will be reaching out to the command team.
