The Black Fleet Report - December 2018

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Janice B.

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: For the full month, the rate of posting has gone down. Some members are busy preparing for the upcoming holidays and some are still affected by the passing of Jeremy Despain, an unforgettable member on the site. For several years, the Europa has their CoS played by a very entertaining Range. Many crew had developed bonds, opinions and gotten that air mystery over this very savvy character. He will be the part of this ship that many of us will always remember.

Spotlight: None

Gamemaster: Christopher Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: Sim is progressing, about to start Act II. The Captain and XO are finishing up a meeting with Admiral McGinnis at starbase 51, the CSO and CE are investigating a computer breach on the Europa and the CMO and Ensign Abrams are finishing up a conversation with Archie, a new alien refugee whose family was killed by an unknown attacker. I am looking forward to seeing how the crew reacts to act II.

FComm’s Comments: No issues to report :)

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: the sim seems to have slowed this month, along with the CO posting below average we lost a little momentum. I’m not worried I’m sure the best ship, not only in the fleet, but in the site will be fine.

AFComm’s Comments: The Genesis has indeed slowed. Julia has had to step down as CO and we will be opening up applications for the position very soon. At the moment, Luke will be aCO until a new CO is found. Folks on the Genesis, keep up your stellar writing! You all are very talented and believe you will do great until we find a new CO.

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: The Merri remains at a high level of regular, quality posting. The new Starfleet Academy based Sim has just begun, but there are also many ongoing side Sims involving all the Merrimack crew. Several of the crew are having romantic trysts, the Deck 12 fancy dress party continues on, and new arrivals are having medicals and meetings. In the main Sim, the senior officers have been asked to lecture cadets on life aboard a real Starship. In a hastily arranged meeting we thrashed out some ideas and quickly put them down on a PADD. Now, the difficult parts is that we have to actually speak about those subjects in front of a hall of students. It also seems that our R&R time is going to be shorter than we envisioned. And why does the Academy suddenly have a new Commandant? And why is he so keen to meet Captain Glen? As for those lectures, first up is our newest crew member, Andorian Communications Officer, Tinga.

Spotlight: As usual, extremely difficult to single out individuals because the standard of posts is so high. Honestly, the thought and time put into characters and their development needs more acknowledgement than I can possibly give.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: The Merrimack is chipper and plowing along merrily! (pun intended!) Sim wise the sim has just started with the mission briefing being given. The crew are tasked to give Academy lessons of real life experiences to current academy classes! While enjoying some well earned R&R. The crew has just beamed down to earth and the first classes have started.

FComm’s Comments: As always, the Merri continues to surprise me! If anyone is interested in joining, feel free to contact the CO.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: November was a rough month for me, personally. Several LOAs and not quite as much posting led to the stalling of quite a few threads. We kept them going though, and others are still posting. We did end up losing Julia to new RL commitments and we wish her the absolute best! (And she is always welcome back!) And having lost Jeremy at the end of the month kind of hit myself (and I’m sure everyone else) particularly hard. December things will pick up a bit. I expect they may stall a bit during the holidays as usual, but Oed is still going. She isn’t dropping the boards any time soon.

Spotlight: I’m giving this spotlight to Jeremy DeSpain. Through his collaborative efforts, Jeremy was one of 4 Klingon personas to join Oed all at once. His writing was always unique! He always brought a sense of life to his characters. There was even a really touching tribute made in his honor IC. I was particularly fond of Jeremy as he not only encouraged those he came in contact with, but he was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was courageous, inspiring, and always caring.

Jeremy “Ox” DeSpain, you will truly be missed.

Executive Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: I wavered between 5 or a 6 here. With Julia leaving at the end of the month that will impact us. She is a great contributor. Posting is ok but nothing fantastic. Overall we are plugging along fine but need a little boost.

Spotlight: Julia for her long years of dedication to OED.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: As usual, Sidney and I are typically on the same page. To be fair, December is always a hard month for the club, so we will see how things go. Still here and kicking!

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Even with our CO on LOA for an extended time (Happy to see you back, D!!), the crew has been working hard and trying to figure out what the hell is going on!!!

Can you say “mirror universe”? No, we didn’t get trapped there, but some folks from that ‘verse got into ours and brought their computer with them which is now controlling our ship. Paranoia is beginning to creep into some of the crew as we try to figure out who really belongs on THIS ship before total chaos and anarchy begin running rampant on the Olympic. Maaaaaaan, it’s like cats and dogs living together!!!!

Spotlight: I have to shine the light on a recent arrival on the ship. Frederic Martin plays engineering JO Ens. Oliver Pierce has quickly involved in the main sim and is currently getting shot at as he tries to get to a duplicate bridge that has bee set up by the mirror ‘verse folks.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: CO is excused due to LOA. The ship is in good shape, so no issues to report.

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: In reality, the Wolverine is in great shape. In the sim, it’s another story as half the crew is afflicted in one way or the other. The other half are searching for answers/cures for those afflicted. As the CO, it’s frustrating to see one member after another going down with one problem or another, BUT I’m still enjoying the sim.

We’ll soon be making contact with our informant from the station, and after that we may be employing the Improbability Drive for this first time. Hang on, folks, I have a feeling it’s going to be one wild ride!!!

Spotlight: Big shoutout to our CMO (Trinity) and CSO (James)!!!! Their posts in trying to find a cure for the viral infection is astounding. I’m not sure about half of what they’re saying (that’s why I don’t usually play science or medical), but they sure sound like they know what they are discussing in the sim. Bravo, you two!!!! Keeping my fingers crossed that your plan works and we can get at least part of the cure back to full capacity!!!

Executive Officer: Ray Branch

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The medical team is still figuring out how to combat the airborne illness that has the ship on high alert. The XO and CNS appear to be patient 0 for the illness, and are now in sickbay being evaluated by the CMO.

Overall the sim is slowly progressing despite LOAs and AWOLs. We still need a few JOs in each department, and are open for new and unique characters!
