The Black Fleet Report - February 2019

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Janice B.

Crew Posting Level: 10
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: This month seems to be one of those months were everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Real life caught up in the worst way delaying some crew members in posting. Despite the issues, it hasn’t completely stop the ship and we’ve done fairly decent to keep our quota through the struggle. However, it’s time to focus on picking up the pace. That will be the CO and myself’s focus this next month, hoping to push the SIM through with the GMT.

Spotlight: There aren’t any at this time.

Vacancies: Positions that require bodies are all the Junior officers spots in each department, with the expectation of one in science and security. Anyone interested please contact JoeP or myself in email or through discord with your character idea ready to present.

Gamemaster: Christopher Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: The sim is progressing slowly. The Europa has left Starbase 51 and is proceeding as ordered. The crew has learned about an alien threat and has been ordered to explore and make first contact if possible, if not, to assess the threat and report back. We have entered act II and I hope to have more crew involvement.

Spotlight: None

AFComm’s Comments: The Europa seems to be on her feet. There seemed to be a few hiccups here and there, but overall nothing to worry about. They could probably use a few Junior officers to round out the crew nicely.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: Ship took a slight dip as we lost out long term Captain. The sim is moving along, as we make nice with the native. Talking is always slower than combat… but we are the Federation… that’s what we do.

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: With Luke becoming the CO, the Genesis is still doing well. He has named Hjortur Ingi as his new XO. Being new, he should be excused from any report made for January. It would be nice to see a GO report, but to be fair I don’t know whether reminders were sent it not. Overall, the Genesis is doing fine!

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: We are back at Starfleet Academy and the senior staff are giving lecturers on various subjects to the cadets. We have had two lectures so far and are presently in the middle of another. Tinga presented a lecture on communication, making her points with some mime and the help of Nkosenye. Next up was Miriam Cross who presented a strong case for having Ship’s Counsellors on every Starship, not just to combat the mental illness from Five Year Missions, but to give advice to the Captain on matters of psychological evaluation and in First Contacts. John Glen was not keen on the idea, despite the problems they had encountered with First Contacts in the past. Now it is the turn of Nkosenye who insists on calling Landing Parties Away Missions instead and is going to be speaking about making them safer with technology, I think, in order to reduce the body count of those Red Shirts. it is amusing to think how the USS Merrimack was where Ship’s Counsellors and Away Teams first began life. In side Sims, Miriam is visiting Nkosenye in South Africa and Tiastri Ezial is having dinner with Kord. The Starfleet Commandant has asked John Glen to investigate Red Squad, which he is still considering. Now that the holidays are over our posting rates are back to normal and the ship is healthy.

Spotlight: James Sinclair. He just relishes his character’s role and whenever he posts he brings a depth and warmth to that thread.

Vacancies: Contact the Captain directly. DH positions are filled. Any junior, swing or custom character will be considered.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: The Merrimack chugs along with their simpler sim in addressing the Academy cadets the ship’s chief of security is wrapping up his presentation and the next round of talks will be starting soon.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: The Merrimack seems to be doing fine. The aim seems to be more of a simpler one. I’m curious if there will be any crazy antics happening during these lectures.

No XO report.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We picked up some in January. We aren’t quite to the point of being heavily posting, but slowly we are getting back to that point. This year is bound to be full of surprises, so who knows how February and March will go. I anticipate a bit better than January.

My long running PRSIM will be coming to a close very soon. The final act is upon us and it shouldn’t be long now. And the other two PRSIMs are doing quite nicely.

I’ve started a fun side-sim which ought to be very interesting. ;)

Spotlight: January was a bit of a blur, so I will be sure to give a good spotlight next month.

Vacancies: Head of Medicine and Head of Mining

Executive Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: I feel good about Oed right now. Posting is nice and we seem to be getting some disorganization from story writers leaving us squared away.

Spotlight: I say there is some good writing in several locations but Hjor is doing very well with the Police Chief role right now. Add our leader, Tony, to that list as well and of course Lindsay with her Lt. Cmd Eviros character really filling out the role playing environment.

Vacancies: Were good

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: See above

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: Christopher Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: My first report as CO. The ship is progressing along. I am hoping to get my self involved in the sim shortly. We had 93 postings for January. Not to bad, I hope to get that up for February. I am still getting to know the crew and I will have a more in depth report for February.

Spotlight: None

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: I feel the sim has picked up substanially recently. Now we know why the folks from the Mirror Universe are here. The Terran Empire is planning an invasion of the prime universe and want to use the Olympic as their base spying and to launch their invasion. If that fails, blow the ship up by activating the ship’s self-destruct protocols. Very important now to get control of the computer again so we can stop that from happening, then find out who is who and get rid of the Mirror ‘verse people.

After D had to leave us a few months ago as out captain, Chris Bennett is being given a chance at the big chair. I’ve simmed with Chris on other ships and glad to see that he is being given this opportunity to command a fine ship an crew. He deserves it and I have complete confidence that he will make a great CO.

Speaking of D, things have calmed down for her and she is returning to the Oly, not as the CO, but as a character she formerly played as the CNS that has now switched to Medical. Along with that, Chris Perry also returns with one of his former Oly characters who was, incidentally, in a relationship with D’s character. It’s going to see if these two can kiss and make up after what happened previously.

Spotlight: I have to shine the light this month on Trinity Fister who recently joined us as the CSO. I’ve had some good interaction with this character already and though our new middle-Eastern CSO seems very proper and reserved on the outside, I’ve got a feeling she’s going to end up being the Oly’s ‘wild child’ once she lets her hair down (so to speak).

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Joshua Ezell

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: The crew is on to the Mirror Universe personnel and their mission in the Prime Universe. Now they are chasing them throughout the ship and trying to identify them before the crew turns on each other from paranoia.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: I like the sim! And having Christopher take over as the CO was a good move. Things seem to be going well and I look forward to seeing the report for February!

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: I believe we are one step closer to getting some answers on a couple of fronts.

First, we are about to deal some fresh water for information on the Underspace. at least that is the hopeful outcome. Part of the crew is taking a shuttle filled with 50 gallon drums of water to trade with possible allies here i the Delta Quadrant.

Second, it appears our Science and medical department have possibly found away to “burn” the virus out of the affected crew members. Literally a Trial by fire!!

Third, the Improbability Drive is ready to go in hopes of putting the COS and one security officer back in their rightful bodies.

We also have a couple of new additions to the crew. John Polizzi and Peter McGarvey join the crew as security officers, both with very interesting backgrounds that fit in nicely with the Wolverine’s MOS. Peter’s character has had many trials and tribultions throughout his career, both in and outside of Starfleet, John John joins us a Federation Security Liaison (basically, a babysitter {that’s the Captain’s term :0 }to make sure the Wolverine’s crew doesn’t cross over the line too far .

Spotlight: I have to point out the work that Sid (CE) and Jason (GM) are doing. Without any engineering JO’s, Sid has been pretty much left alone in the engine room, but a recent installation of EDDIE (the ship’s current AI has kept Sid active in posting. The two are a perfect contrast to each other that make for some entertaining conversations. The CE is a grumpy, curmudgeonly, pain-in-the-asp, and Eddie is such a happy-go-lucky personality that it drives our CE nuts. Like I said–love the interaction between these two!!

Hopefully, we’ll be able to keep EDDIE around after this mission is over (hint, hint)

Vacancies: We have a full compliment of security on board and one science JO, but we could use another one. One or two more medical personnel would be helpful, but I think our greatest need is in engineering. As I mentioned above, we only have a CE, and as wonderful as Sid is in the role, we need some engineering JO’s that he can push responsibilities off to so that he can focus on destroying the security Chief’s career>

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: The wolverine seems to be doing fine as well. I would have liked to have seen the XO and GM reports too, but they are not submitted. The aim seems to be progressing well. All is good!
