The Meridian Fleet Report - January 2020

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Overall the ship is doing very well. I only rate it at 6 because of the holiday period. The Olinski has historically been an active ship during the holidays when most ships go dormant. This year is no exception. The sim is progressing and involvement is good. I also was able to work on the MOTD and give it a little better esthetic look. This was one of the reason I wanted R Smith to take the CO position for a sim. One to help him progress toward a center seat in STF but also to give me time to work on a lot of OOC stuff I need to do. So far it’s working out perfect.

Spotlight: I don’t usually go with the whole crew kinda spotlight however I think it’s warranted this time of year because pretty much everyone has found time to post.

Vacancies: CMO. Even though I am rp’ing this role right now that will end after this sim and we need to get a permanent person in this role.

Executive Officer: R Smith

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: Participation is surprisingly high, especially for December! Players engaged and keeping up with posting schedule.

Spotlight: Spotlight on Sidney Parker, who is playing NPC Doctor Doolittle in order to allow my character a turn in the captain’s chair. Special mention to Terry Sullivan and John P. who are running a side story thread with their characters. Special mention to Tyra Scholl, who is playing two characters at once in this sim and is able to keep up despite having a character in every ship in the fleet! Special mention for Sam Pennington, who has managed not only to play our chief engineering officer and a Romulan fighter pilot, but has managed to post on time for both of them!

Vacancies: As of this time, we still need a CMO. Sidney’s M.D. doesn’t count and is described as a young doctor in order to provide room for a player character of more seniority become his new boss.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Sim Overview: The Olinksi has been tasked to find a lost Starfleet transport ship the USS Sierra. The ship had landed on the planet to make repairs and got caught in a sandstorm. The Olinski crew are trying to understand why repairs were not made in orbit but on the planet. The CO, who had been in the Engineers Corps and is about to retire, had given his reasons but the Olinski crew still are not too convinced. At the same time, the Medical officers are trying to assess if any of the passengers need to be transported back to the Olinksi.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Olinski had a very good December and was surprisingly active over the holidays, they ended up the most numerous posting ship in the Fleet. Sidneys edits to the MOTD look great, and with the experience I have had in Kenson’s sim’s they are always interesting and well thought out. I have no issues with the Olinski, and the crew has now returned to duty after the break with a couple that were still on LOA having posted as this report was being put together. Well done to them, and it’s great to see R taking a leading role for a Sim.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: We Finished our SIM and it was great! We will start a new one soon. Our ship has seen a dramatic drop in posting over the last few months. I am working with the FComm and GM to help turn the ship around.

Spotlight: Everyone who kept posting and stayed.

Vacancies: XO,
Jo’s in all departments

Executive Officer: Position Vacant

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: Health wise the Chernov has some LOA/AWOL issues but most are in part due to the holiday time happenings. There is also work in progress to look for a new XO. Sim wise we’ve wrapped things up with the crew defeating the final test of their unknown kidnappers and returning to their own ship and home space. Who these aliens were that ran the tests will have to be figured out another time! For now the crew is just mellowing out with the CE and CO though having a bit of a heart to heart regarding events of the last mission.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Chernov had the same drop in posting as other ships in the fleet over December, but it isn’t as bleak as it might have been made to sound. The Chernov’s posting for the Holiday month was on a par with the Saracen and Odin, and they completed their Sim as well, and that is with their XO on an extended LOA and a few other prolific posters on LOA’s of their own. Realistically the portents are good for the future.

We’ve had a look at the roster and taken a clean up broom to it, adjusted the MOTD, made a couple of tweaks to things and the exciting part is we are now looking for a fresh and active XO who has a love for the Alternate Timeline to come on board and join the team. With a new Sim getting set to start, it’s the perfect opportunity for someone. Stay tuned!

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Steven Sigle

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: Holiday season has taking some toll but we have had a decent pace all the same.

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 4
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Like other ships the Odin slowed down a bit in December, but posting still kept up well in the main sim and a few other threads where people got a fair bit of traction.

In our sim, we have ‘welcomed’ a pair of visitors on board with the Odin’s version of Charlies Angels, and we welcomed Ray Branch onto the ship as well. Not with Odins Angels, of course, although that actually sounds like it could be fun. Maybe painful.

In any case, we are looking forward to January and the new year taking off, with the return of a few faithful crew to posting.

Spotlight: Kenson Koh and James Wolf this month, for their posting in their tactical training thread.

Vacancies: The Odin has vacancies in all JO positions and may be open to Swings with the right people.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: After rescuing a freighter from what seemed like a Romulan ship, the Odin gave chase. The strange thing is that the ship was not in the intelligence database. The Odin reaches a strange cluster of ships in a system that is outside Federation space. In fact it is not claimed by any major power. On contacting the ‘colony’ the Odin discovers that they are like an independent group of people from various systems. They do not answer to any power. When the CNS tries to read the people who answer their hails, she discovers that she cannot read them, in a similar situation like the Ferengi. A meeting is set up where two representatives from the ‘colony’ would board the Odin to negotiate. One is a Ferengi male and the other is a female which looks human but is unreadable like a Ferengi. The two are led to the conference room where they await meeting the Captain of the Odin.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Odin focused much of their posting activity in December to the Main Sim and a tactical side thread, while many of the crew went on LOA for the holidays. As expected posting dropped but there are no worries here, the roster is full of quality and active posters and Kenson’s Sim has been interesting and the way that he blends his story with the crew’s actions is fantastic. He really makes the crew part of the story and not just telling his story. They have added a few new crew over the last month or so, so the Odin looks to be in great shape with posting the same as the Saracen and Chernov.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: December was a slow month as to be expected with the Holiday season upon us. However that being said we still progressed to the next phase of our sim, and secured the services of a new GM in Sam Pennington to quest us on our Federation Battlecruiser.

Sam has done an outstanding job of keeping the sim moving with the people who were available over the holidays. While the posting rate was much lower than normal we welcomed back Cass Young in our Security dept, Cass always has an impact and is fun to have on your ship.

Spotlight: Difficult this month with the low posting, but with a big thanks to Luke Hung and Terry Sullivan for keeping the sim moving along, the Spotlight will go to Sam for his enthusiasm for taking on the GM role on the Saracen.

Vacancies: The Saracen has JO positions available in all departments, and maybe swings for the right people.

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Excused due to LOA

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: Picking up from where Krys left off… the Aldebaran colony was attacked by a ship using isolytic weapons. The crew have a fading warp trail to follow, but no solid images of the enemy ship.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Chris has been excused from the XO report due to his LOA, and Sam as well as he has just come on board to take over from Krys as the Saracen’s GM. A big thanks and congrats to Sam for completing his GMT and choosing the Saracen to spread his wings on, he’s been fantastic so far in the GM seat over December.

Posting slowed down a heck of a lot as many people took LOA’s or cut back on posting during the month, but like the other ships there are no expected issues from this and they even got a member return. With the end of the holidays the Sim is getting onto the next phase, so JO’s in all departments are welcome if anybody is looking to join them.
