The Black Fleet Report - February 2020

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Janice B.

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: After their last mission, the Europa had been sent to the Klingon border to survey an asteroid belt. Things were uneventful until their path crossed with a K’t’inga class cruiser coming out of warp. Outdated and structurally damaged, the crew attempted to hail them. The ship’s reply was a warning shot across the Europa’s bow. Was it a misfire or a warning of aggression? Who is running this ship and why did they fire? Only the Europa crew can find out!

Spotlight: None for this month.

Vacancies: Vacancies: We’re looking for members interested in becoming JO officers on the Europa. If you have a character idea please contact JoeP and/or myself on the site or Discord. Our names are JoeP and Fallenreaper respectively on the chat.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: First off to note the CO is excused from this month report due to being vacation. Sadly no report got submitted by the GM.

The Europa had a change over of GMs this past month. I’m happy to see the new sim starting off on a positive foot. Seems the crew has run into an old time klingon ship with efforts to communicate coming up frustrating. Overall I’m hoping to see more activity shoot up in the coming month.

That said despite this there is the continuing issue of extended awols and late posting by the rest of many in the crew. My hope is with a new GM and a new sim going on this can be remedied in the near future by the CO and XO.

AFComm’s Comments: I’m glad to see that activity has picked up a bit since the GM situation got settled. I intend to keep watching closely but I’m optimistic that the ship health will improve. I am a little concerned that the current GM may burn out with all of the ships he’s on and the three GM positions but as it was approved by the GDept and Command, I’ll just make a note here and observe.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The post holiday lull as stopped as posting rates are picking up. The return of our erstwhile CMO has been counterbalanced by the loss of our CNS. Both players are excellent posters so they kind of balance each other out, but in different ways. So our ship needs a new counselor… we are looking.

The mission seems to have made a slight turn and I think some progression and we should be making some significant moves in the next month.

Vacancies: CNS

Executive Officer: Hjortur Ingi

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The ship is still reeling in from the Holidays but I expect we should be getting better in the first weeks of February. We’ve had a few AWOL’s that have corrected in the past weeks and as of writing this only have one AWOL.

With the sim in the place it is now posting is heavily reliant on responses from me, the XO, and our CO Luke. This has put a slight damper in what our junior officers have been able to respond but we are moving on quickly. The Sim is in its latter legs and currently the two main posts involve a discussion with the Plantery president and another location with Pirates/rebels.

Several side sims/posts are running concurrently allowing most staff to post within their limits.

I am positive for the next month

Spotlight: D Grisham and Christina Crafford for their side sim and managing to stay busy despite not having a part currently in the main sim.

Vacancies: We have vacancies in all JO positions, particularly the other Science Sub-DH positions.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The USS Genesis encounters a new race of humanoids who call themselves Pallasians from the Pallas system. They have succeeded in reaching warp speed. Using first contact protocols, the crew make contact and two away teams were sent to assess Pallas as a whole. It was apparent that the Pallasians are ruled more like a socialist society even though they have free elections. The CSO, who is from the future, is strangely reluctant to deal with the Pallasians and yet not able to reveal what he knows of them in the future.

The Pallasians request a formal entry into the Federation, after which the crew decide to make a more detailed assessment of the system. They discover that there is another planet in the system where the Pallasians have colonised for the resources the planet offered. A group of military personnel had rebelled and held their base on the moon of that colony.

The assessment on the main Pallas planet was completed and the XO was sent to bid departure from the Pallasian government. The CO, on the other hand, led another away team to encounter and find out more about the rebels. After a stalemate with the rebels (or pirates as the Pallasians call them) the CO seized three of the rebels and interrogated them. He found out that the main rebel leader a general named Puck was holding families ransom and forcing military personnel to be part of the rebel force. The CO has decided to make a daring rescue and was last known to be making plans for such a rescue.

FComm’s Comments: Glad to see everyone got their reports in on time! So kudos to the command team on the Genesis YAY!

Posting rates are solid from observations I made on the ship the past month, the sim is continuing along and most folks seem involved in one form or another. I’m curious to see how the CO will resolve their rescue mission effort, and explain it to their superiors.

Ship wise there are some late posters again this month and currently as of this writing one AWOL out 10 days. I’ll be sending a small touch base to the command team to work on addressing this but I dont see it as too much of a concern yet.

AFComm’s Comments: Ship health looks good and it’s nice to see the low holiday posting fade away.

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: David Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Posting is slow as usual in the beginning of a new sim. I understand the difficulties of self-simming so I don’t personally hold it against them.

Spotlight: As usual, The GM is running an interesting story.
David is an excellent Captain.

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: Solid 6’s from me this past month for the Merrimack which chugs along nicely overall, There are some issues we’re checking into about the ship’s CE being awol almost 20 days but i’m hoping thats well in hand. Sim wise the crew has been granted a ‘gift of life’ from an Ancient ship which showed up through some kind of temporal gravity hole in space. After leaving their ‘gift’ the ship left back to their own place/time presumably.

The gift turned out to be a human/Ancient hybrid called Dan’iel who for simplicity just is going by Daniel. So far investigations reveal he is the fully grown person from the Hatchling which had imprinted upon Glen so long ago in the Andromeda galaxy (see events related to the Merrimacks part in the Destiny’s Paradox sim series!). The crew are now doing some Q/A with Daniel in the briefing room while the jos do clean up around the ship.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: First off the CO was not excused from their report this past month so there is that.

I’m not quite sure what David (The xo) meant about self simming exactly so I’m going to be checking into that. Overall beyond a CE who was awol up till recently and as of this writing a CMO also being AWOL the Merrimack is moving along fairly well. Sim wise as GM i’ve been doing what I can to keep folks engaged with the Q/A though it is a bit slower then I’d have wanted. That said not too concerned since mostly everyone has kept in awol limits. As with other ships i’ll be sending a little check in email in the coming month if needed.

AFComm’s Comments: Good ship health.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: January started off with a slow come back. Most of the roster is handled and she could use some more crew to fill her out. We are also in the works of finding a new Governor to run Oed as my time is getting slimmer and slimmer with the different commitments outside of STF going on. I’ll be working with whoever is selected in revitalizing Oed.

February should be a much better month. The ups and downs come with Oed, and I suspect that we are soon to have some pretty good months ahead.

Spotlight: I would like to spotlight James Sinclair and Hjortur Ingi for both consistently posting! Your consistency and creativity are a real staple for Oed. :)

Vacancies: I will be making sure that our public profile is up to date.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: First off Sidney didnt get their report in and it was not till I was writing this that I saw mention of their LOA which had not been communicated to be before now. So that said I’ll excuse them at the last minute for this month. As mentioned by Tony I had this past month put up a call for a new Governor application, sadly that time has expired and I got no applications. I’ll be trying again in the coming month since as mentioned Tony will be needing to step down soon from his Govenor role.

Roster wise while there was some clean up, there is still alot of long term loas and awols as of this writing present, ones I had hoped would have been cleaned up by now. I’m going to be touching base with Tony and Sidney about why these weren’t handled and to try to get them done quickly.

Self simming wise there is some activity with laying ground work for some kind of investigation it seems but overall interactions seem low key at the moment. Overall I’m concerned for the health and ongoing viability of OED V and this may need to be looked into more deeply if a new Governor cant be found soon and interest in the self simming environment is not brought up to standards.

AFComm’s Comments: Always hard to judge a self-sim environment but things are looking up and activity is better pretty much across the board.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: Christopher Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Posting has slowed down a little and we have a few LOA’s and AWOLS, but everyone has returned and seems to be posting well. Sam has a great sim lined up for us and I am excited to see where it goes.

The Olympic is investigating a small black hole where they have found a ship trapped inside. We have since rescued the ship and are in the process of investigating the ship, it’s passenger as well as the Black hole in which it got trapped.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: JO’s in all departments.

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: A couple of LOA’s on the roster, but no major issues as we’re getting into the sim.

The Olympic has pulled a small pod into the shuttle bay, that was trapped at the edge of a small black hole for, oh, a couple of centuries or so. Somehow, the occupant is still alive. Many questions are being asked by the XO, engineering, and medical team, as the the how’s and why’s!!

No sooner has the occupant been removed, and short power outages are happening all over the ship–lights flashing, cats and dogs living together. . . .sorry, wrong movie> D’oh!!

Say it with me, Hmmmm, that’s peculiar.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: CMO. No sooner dd we get a new CMO to come aboard than have him step down for personal reason. on the plus side, he has agreed to stay on until we find a new CMO (Little did he know how long it took to find one in the first place.)

JO’s in all departments. Come and see the galaxy as a member of the Olympic!!!

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: Bizarre events are taking hold of the Olympic following the decision to take in a pod trapped in a weak black hole. Mysterious, almost supernatural phenomena are leading to questions about the new guest on the ship and where he might have come from.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Props to the Olympic command team for getting their reports in on time this month, YAY!

Roster and sim wise first off there are some LOAs and AWOLS on the ship at the moment as mentioned in the reports. A majority of the crew in fact, though given its small size I guess this cant be helped. This as a result to me has slowed the sim’s progress down greatly, though it does seem interesting for investigating what is going on with their new arrival.

I’ll be keeping close tabs on the Olympic in the next month. Like OED V I’m concerned with the ability to keep a stable environment going with the current player base having to take loas so often or going awol or people leaving.

AFComm’s Comments: January looked to be a strong month for the Olympic. Decent activity and crew engagement.

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: I am happy to announce that the Wolverine has all department head positions filled. Along with that, the Wolverine has welcomed three great writers to the crew:

James Sinclair as Cmdr. Jason Reilly (XO) (Ray has stepped down as XO, but will remain with the ship as the Chief of Ops.)
Dave Shotton as Lt. Duncon Rhodes (CSO)
Kate O’Neill as Ens. Lily Locksley (aCMO)

As mentioned, these three are great writers and I have very pleased to have them join our already awesome crew!!!

Sim-wise, the Wolverine has arrived at Risa for some well-deserved R&R. Most of the crew was on the planet when the Captain’s shuttle went down/lost contact with. His first action as XO, Cmdr. Reilly has ordered the crew back to the ship in an effort to find Capt. Boudreaux. All this attention for lil’ ol’ me?

Meanwhile, Fedeation Security attache, Lt. Mado is doing some snooping around the ship looking for. . . .what? Whatever it is, he found something peculiar in the captain’s quarters which he broke into?!?! Knowing our GM, Jason, there are going to be a lot more peculiar happenings going on..

(Really?? Mado broke into the captain’s quarters? That’s kind of a slap in the face to the former master thief of New Orleans!!!)

Spotlight: Shout out to our GM, Jason Lee. I thought this was going to be a relaxing shore leave while he was setting things up for the next mission only to find out this is the next mission/adventure. Jason Lee, the Master of the Swerve!!

Vacancies: JO’s–especially, science, med, or engineering. CE Petrov desperately needs someone he can belittle while at the same time giving himself praise as the miracle worker of modern engineering!!!

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: First off no reports got submitted by the XO or GM so they are not excused.

Roster wise the ship is in fairly good shape though the CNS being over a month AWOL again really needs to be taken care of ASAP. I’ll be addressing this with the command team shortly. Beyond this there is one late posting and two loas.

Sim wise the crew seem engaged and we’ll see what the next month holds for the Wolverine.

AFComm’s Comments: Big improvement for the Wolverine over December. Thankfully most everyone seems to have gotten back into the swing of things after the holidays.
