The Black Fleet Report - February 2020

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: Joe P

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 3

Ship Status: We’re not doing too hot this month, simply because a lot of people (3.5) are out due to medical issues in their real lives that affect their ability to post. The sim is moving and there don’t appear to be obstacles to it, but it would be nice if we all did a bit more. Everyone’s kinda doing the bare minimum.

We have new crew starting this month, so I think that’ll turn around as long as everyone tries a little extra hard to just put one foot in front of the other for a little bit.

Spotlight: Luke Hung made me laugh out loud with one line of narration when he had his character seem incredibly thrilled at the prospect of salvaging an old Klingon ship.

Lindsay Bayes also amused me mightly in that she’s managed to portray a teenage crush with very high fidelity.

Vacancies: We’re looking for JOs in any department and are willing to take on swings that fit the character of the ship.

Executive Officer: Janice B.

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 4

Ship Status: The Sim continues on as the crew determines the strange and outdated Klingon ship’s origins. Figuring the ship was displaced by time, the CE Sullivan suggested scanning for particles associated with time travel. None were found, eliminating one possible theory and deepening the growing mystery. This fact comforted the CSO who wasn’t a fan of time shenanigans. Finally, the CO decided to send an away consisting of the XO, CNS, CE, CoS and a small detail. Only time will tell what happened on this strange, floating ship.

Spotlight: None for this month.

Vacancies: Europa still has plenty of JO positions open for players. If anyone is interested, please contact JoeP or myself through Discord or email.

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: On the border of Klingon space, a K’t’inga class vessel, centuries old has emerged from warp. Seemingly uninhabited, the ship is behaving irrationally.

Spotlight: Joe P as Capt Johann Dvorak for keeping things moving

FComm’s Comments: As the reports note there was some slow down this month. Still there is some progress moving forward which I’m happy to see. I’m going to be touching base with the command team later this month to focus on trying to get the ship’s health up to par.

AFComm Comments: The ship has been hit with some inactivity due to some of the members RL issues. The command staff is holding it together pretty well despite the difficulties. I’m glad to see that the GM, Sam, is hanging in strong and doing his best to keep things moving.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The ship seems to be dragging a little as the mission, has condensed from three parts, to four parts, to two parts and now down to one. Posts have likewise decreased as threads related to the sim have decreased. Two or three side sims are occurring, but that still leaves a few characters inactive.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: JO all departments, CNS

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The USS Genesis encounters a new race of humanoids who call themselves Pallasians from the Pallas system. They are warp capable. The Genesis made first contact It was apparent that the Pallasians are ruled more like a socialist society even though they have free elections. The CSO, who is from the future, is strangely reluctant to deal with the Pallasians and yet not able to reveal what he knows of them in the future. The Pallasians request a formal entry into the Federation, after which the crew decide to make a more detailed assessment of the system. They discover that there is another planet in the system where the Pallasians have colonised for the resources the planet offered. A group of military personnel had rebelled and held their base on the moon of that colony.

Completing the assessment on the main Pallas planet, the XO officially bid departure from the Pallasian government. The CO, had led another away team to encounter and find out more about the rebels. He found out that the main rebel leader a general named Puck was holding families ransom and forcing military personnel to be part of the rebel force. The CO has decided to make a daring rescue and is about to execute his plan.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: As the CO mentioned there seems to be a bit of a slow down this month for the Genesis I’m hoping the condensing of the thread lines is a temporary measure and we will see improvement in the next month.

AFComm Comments: Things seem to be slowing a bit. Ship health is doing good overall though.

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: David Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Slow section at the beginning of the sim. Hopefully it’ll pick up soon. Still not sure what direction to go.

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: Slow but steady posting this month by the Merrimack crew. The crew are currently meeting and doing a Q&A with Daniel the Ancient hybrid from the past come to help them fix a problem with the Merrimack creating temporal anomalies in the time stream. Due to the CO taking an LOA Captain Glen has fallen ill which the CMO is currently diagnosing, while the engineering staff finish up fixing the ship from their earlier tumbling.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: CO is on loa for a few weeks due to life demands so his report is excused. This was setup ahead of time so I’m not concerned especially since he rarely takes an loa for more then a day or three usually. The XO as a result is being tasked taking over the admin duties which I’ll be watching closely in the coming month to ensure this happens correctly.

AFComm Comments: Good ship health though things have slowed a little.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Things are beginning to pick up more. The PRSIM I started awhile back is making its way back to the front. (That’s primarily why I bumped things to a 7) We also have taken on a new Head of Education and Culture in the form of the beloved tribble! (Welcome back Russ!)

I’ve started an OOC thread for brainstorming a new idea for a side sim to at least get people involved and posting. My belief is that if people are posting to something that doesn’t require a lot of story arc thinking on their part, they’ll be inspired in some other way to do things with their character arcs on their own. It’s just a thought, but it doesn’t hurt to have that common thing. We will hopefully be starting something based on our brainstorming this month or at the beginning of April.

As of right now, there are a few AWOLs which are being addressed as this is written. (3-3-2020)

We are still looking for people take on both Starfleet and several civilian head roles, so anyone who wants to try something new, let me know!

Spotlight: I’d like to spotlight Sidney for his consistent posting! Its important for command staff to maintain consistency. I’ve not been the best of that lately, but that may change soon. Thank you Sidney for setting a prime example for Oed!

Vacancies: The ship profile is up to date (3-3-2020)

Civilian Roles: Head of Mining Operations, Head of Construction, Head of Science and Terraforming, and Head of Chamber of Commerce.

Starfleet Roles: CSO, CMO, and Orbital Platform Commander.

Any questions, please contact myself through my contact form or on discord. (FCaptTiger for discord)

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: A bit concerned we didn’t get the Lt Gov’s report in again. There appears to be some activity growth which is sorely needed for OED V. We also got Russ joining as the new Gov just at the tail end of this month so there will be a transition period of transferring power that is to be played out. Overall i’ll be watching OED V closely in the coming month to see how things improve.

AFComm Comments: Still hard to judge a self-sim environment and activity has dropped a bit. With the new Governor incoming I hope that things turn around once again.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: Christopher Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: On the slower month for the Olympic. We had 75 posts for the month, some of that low number was because I was on LOA for the last 2 weeks of the month due to a vacation. Travis Good has joined our ship as the CMO, welcome aboard Travis.

The ship is currently investigating a ship with stuck in a mini black hole. We have rescued one crew member from the ship who claims to be from the past, but no temporal distortions have been found. The crew member is being escorted to Sickbay where the Captain and Counselor will talk to him to figure out what he is doing here.

A very interesting sim so far, Sam Pennington is doing a great job of keeping everyone involved.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Junior officers in every department.

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The plot thickens as an unknown entity was traveling in the escape pod we pulled aboard. The human occupant claims to know nothing of his passenger. Hmmmm?

Anyway, the entity wants the Oly to take it/him/her home? To a desert planet. . . call me paranoid, but I don’t think this is going to be a simple, “Thanks for the lift” scenario Paranoid. Who me? Yeah, you gotta be when everyone is after you!!

New additions to the crew include Travis Good, Cass Young, and Jody Romero, who play the CMO, CSO, and a JO Doctor. Welcome aboard to all three!!! Hopefully, with the addition of three more great minds, we can all figure out what’s going on!!!

Spotlight: Travis has jumped right in to the thick og things as our new CMO and adding a new perspective as a highly emotional Vulcan!

Also have to give credit to Gene for keeping engineering JO NE Reno around. With no engineering JO’s aboard, Gene has done a great job of keeping Reno involved!

Vacancies: JO’s in all departments, though security, science, and engineering have the most need.

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: The recovered pod has let loose Lt Jacob Hanlon of the USS Neptune, MIA in 2264. The voice of a mysterious entity was heard in engineering and then overtook a Security NE, ordering the ship to turn, locate, and travel to an abandoned desert world.

Spotlight: Melissa Aragon as Lt Pretha Oberon

FComm’s Comments: As noted its been a off and on slow month for the Olympic but there has been progress which i’m happy to see. Also happy to see the CO back in action. Overall i’ll be watching the Olympic in the coming month to ensure things are progressing as indicated.

AFComm Comments: Things have slowed quite a bit from the previous month. Overall ship health seems okay though.

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Things have slowed down just a tad at the end of the month, as our GM is taking a vacation. But, hey, even GM’s need to get away sometimes. Plus the fact, that he’s taking a Star Trek cruise, so it’s forgiven.

The Captain has been rescued from the crashed shuttle. Now the mystery thickens as there has yet to be found the reason for the crash. Not everybody is involved in the main sim as of yet, but I believe that will be rectified soon.

On the other hand, everybody has been keeping busy with some interesting side sims. Keep it up crew. And, we’ve added another new crew member as Scott Kafader returns to the club after a long absence. He joins the Wolverine as a medical JO. Welcome back to the club, Scott!!

Spotlight: James Sinclair as XO Jason Reilly! James joined the crew after Ray decided to step down as XO and has jumped right into the action and has added some great posts to the board. I’m really enjoying having James on board!!

Vacancies: Can always use some JO’s. I’d really like to have at least one science and engineering JO’s added to the crew if anyone is interested!

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: While the GM is excused from their report the XO was not so not happy about that and will be reaching out to note this to them in the coming month. As also mentioned in the report not everyone is involved in the main sim so i’m hoping things pick up in the coming month there and it’ll be something I’m watching closely.

AFComm Comments: A drop in activity from last month, but with the GM on vacation that’s understandable. A new crewmember joined so hopefully that helps things a bit.
