The Meridian Fleet Report - February 2020

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: No report submitted - Excused on LOA to 21st March

Executive Officer: R Smith

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 4

Ship Status: There has been a lot of LOA’s this month; we’re going to need some time to get back in our groove.

Spotlight: Spotlight on Luke Hung who plays Balfor Kolar, our Chief Science Officer for leading the away team, carrying the entire sim on his shoulders, and never calling in a Leave Of Absence.

Vacancies: This month we lost our Chief Officer of Security, so we need a COS in addition to a CMO.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Olinksi has been tasked to find a lost Starfleet transport ship: the USS Sierra. The ship had landed on the planet to make repairs and got caught in a sandstorm. The Olinski crew are trying to understand why repairs were not made in orbit but on the planet. The CO, Whitney, had been in the Engineers Corps and is about to retire. He had given his reasons but the Olinski crew still are not too convinced. A Mrs. Pitch had requested the transfer of her and her infant to the Olinski. After the two were transported, the Sierra started their engines, ready to move back to space.

FComm’s Comments: Feb looks like it got a little bit of a ‘needs improvement’ mark from R Smith, but we all know our harshest critics are ourselves and in this case the Olinski actually looks to have done pretty good in Feb. LOA’s and an AWOL or two aside, they put in near 100 posts and the Main Sim looks like it developed nicely. Well Done the Olinski crew.

We definitely have room for improvement, with a couple of LOA’s left on the roster after their dates passed and the players returned to posting without removing LOA status. This could very well have been an oversight however and I am sure the Command Team has their fingers on it.

With a couple of DH roles going on this unique ship, it’s a great opportunity for a writer to try something different. Sign up!

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: We are at the beginning of a SIM when our ship was on a routine patrol of a nearby planet filled with medieval type of people and industry, when we picked up what looked like warp signs coming from the planet. We sent out a team to investigate but they were ambushed by three 10 foot tall werewolves! We managed to beam them back to safety just in time. But the werewolves and some campsite did not pick up on our scans until it was too late.

Spotlight: Mwezi for actively posting and for Kane for doing the same thing. You all keep in character very well and wote things to not only flesh out your character more but to let us all understand your characters more.

Vacancies: Need JO’s in all departments!

Executive Officer: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The majority of the crew posts regularly, and within AWOL limits, keeping the sim moving. Side sims are bringing in character development, which is always nice to see.

Spotlight: Robert Archer as our noble GM

Vacancies: CE, JOs all around

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: All around good posting this month by the Chernov crew. Planet side the team moved out on the mystery planet only to get attacked by what seemed to be a trio of werewolves! Not equipped to fight such things they beamed out quickly returning to the ship to regroup. During this the team was able to get more clues on the mystery planet and its inhabitants which they are now deciphering and trying out how to best use the new information.

FComm’s Comments: Great work by the crew of the Chernov in Feb, they are the Meridian Fleets top posting ship! The smaller crew focused pretty heavily on the main sim and a couple of side threads and did great work in all. From what I can see Travis and Sam are going great as a CO/XO team and Robs sim looks rather interesting (werewolves!?).

I’m really happy with the way that the Chernov responded so positively since the start of the term, it is a unique environment and the crew is now doing it justice! Well done Chernov!

Oh, and they need a Chief Engineer and a few JO’s. Sign up!

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Steven Sigle

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We are learning of the mysterious vagabonds we found in space. They have let us explore their area for the terrorists who seemed to attack the freighter we found.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Chief Engineer

Executive Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Odin had a good month in Feb, our sim is progressing steadily and a few side sim’s are underway keeping people posting. A few LOA’s in March did mean that the post count was smaller than it would otherwise have been, but our GM and a few crew kept posting going well, especially to the main sim where Jay has been steady and productive.

Spotlight: Jay and Kenson in Feb for pushing the main Sim along and staying active around the ship, thanks guys!

Vacancies: The Odin has a vacancy for a Chief Engineer, and we welcome JO’s in all departments

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: After rescuing a freighter, the Odin pursued what seemed like an unregistered Romulan ship. The Odin reaches a strange cluster of ships in a system that is outside Federation space. In fact that space is not claimed by any major power. On contacting the ‘colony’ the Odin discovers that they are like an independent group of people from various systems. They do not answer to any power. When the CNS tries to read the people who answer their hails, she discovers that she cannot read them, in a similar situation like the Ferengi. A meeting is set up where two representatives from the ‘colony’ would board the Odin to negotiate. One is a Ferengi male and the other is a female which looks human but is unreadable like a Ferengi. The CO meets with them and negotiates entry into the system to look for the perpetrators.

FComm’s Comments: The Odin had a steady February despite a few LOA’s from writers that are usually pretty productive. That meant that the posting dropped and slowed but still made all required targets and pushed the sim along. I am always impressed at the detail and very Trek feel of Kenson’s sims and this one is no exception, and this makes the main sim a joy to read through.

The Odin is looking for a new Chief Engineer, and as a slow posting ship is able to accomodate writers who may be unable to keep up on other standard posting ships. With a good solid team of experienced posters, it would be fantastic for someone looking to branch out. Contact the CO or XO if interested.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: We’ve reached the final showdown with a Son’a ship that fired Isolytic weapons at a Federation Colony, and it turns out the Captain of that ship has a “vision” to make the Son’a great again via forging a new Empire at the Federations expense. Outnumbered, his dream might not make it to reality.

Feb was a very slow month with quite a lot of us on LOA’s and posting slower due to real life, that in turn meant that those who remained ended up posting slower as well but nevertheless, we still put out around 70 posts for Feb which meant we did ok. A bunch of those were ooc posts but the main Sim has still forged it’s way to the conclusion. Sam has done a terrific job of closing the Sim out that he picked up, and I’m pretty excited to see what his plans are for the next one.

Spotlight: Our GM for closing out the Sim and keeping it ticking over with good, straight forward posts. Well done Sam, I’m looking forward to what you have for us coming up.

Vacancies: The Saracen has JO positions open in all Depts, and an open CNS spot.

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Excused on LOA

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 4

Sim Overview: The Son’a have revealed their prophet leader and his plan to remove the federation from a “Son’a empire” he intends to build. A stand-off is brewing near a Starbase as Lasar and his followers seem ready to face death rather than back down.

Spotlight: Luke Hung as Teller Graham

FComm’s Comments: It’s taken a while but the Sim is in its final phase, and I think the crew is ready for a bit of a change. Feb was slow and the Saracen had a lot of LOA’s from usually active writers and an AWOL or two as they lost a couple of people as they drifted out of activity, so the posting dropped as it would be expected and a number of posts were ooc rather than IC. Overall the Saracen still made targets and the Sim is concluding well, Sam is doing a great job of wrapping it up so the ship can move onwards to what he has in store for them.

The Saracen has open vacancies for JO’s, a CNS and maybe a Swing role or two for the right writers. If Interested, Message the CO.
