Lieutenant Commander Jira K'Marr, Chief of Security

Star Fleet Career Summary

Background

Jira K'Marr was born in the Dushar Province at the Occupation Memorial Medical Center. Her mother was a security officer on Deep Space Nine and her father was a security officer on the IKV Gortuk, which often patroled an area that took them to Deep Space Nine regularly. Jira spent her youth on both Deep Space Nine and Bajor, while on Bajor she lived with her mother's sister Shenari on her farm and attended school with her cousin Adami. On school vacations and holidays she traveled to Deep Space Nine to stay with her mother and father (when he was there). At age eight, Jira's father and mother split for reasons unknown to Jira, and her father returned to Quo'nos where he married and fathered two more children.

Jira was often labeled a "troubled youth" due to her mixed heratage and frequent mood-swings, many did not know how to react to her sudden bursts of temper or her stubborness. She had trouble making friends and was often viewed as a loner but she did manage to make a few close friends before graduating school. Jira befriended Tobais Verilli at age ten, Tobias was one of the only people that seemed to have a calming effect on Jira's nature and for many years the two were inseparable. At age 17 Tobias proposed marriage to Jira but Jira declined. They still managed to be friends but Jira was determined to join star-fleet and make something of herself independently. She applied upon her graduation from school and was accepted on her first application.

Before traveling to Earth Jira traveled to Quo'nos to see her father, only to find he had died honorably in battle. His new family had powerful government ties and did not want the word getting out to their enemies that he had a bastard child. They struck a deal with Jira (whom they felt was not fit to claim the honorable and powerful K'Marr name) that in exchange for some items of her fathers (among them his Bat'leth) she would never again attempt to return to Quo'nos nor would she ever claim any family rights. Little is known why Jira accepted the bargain, it is assumed that silence as to the terms of the agreement was part of the bargain.

Jira joined Star-fleet academy and entered in the security program. She minored in the tactical program. Jira's Adacamy days were much like her school days on Bajor, she studdied hard and kept to herself mostly. She had a few close friends who knew her but no one really understood her and few attempted to befriend her. Jira always assumed it was due to her mixed heratage but Jira was labeled a loner and wasn't able to socialize well with others. This came to note in her record as her only area of needed improvement. Jira graduated with excellent marks.

From there Jira was assigned an Ensign billet on the USS Challenger where she spent the next two years. One incident of note, there was an altercation shortly before her transfer that involved a brawl in the lounge between an intoxicated terran science officer and Jira. After some investigation it was determined the science officer was at fault, having insulted Jira's heritage after she rebuffed his advances. A reprimand was put on her record but no punishment was mandated. Despite the incident Jira was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade before being transferred to her next duty station.

Jira then was reassigned to the USS Agamemnon. Shortly after her arrival Jira was promoted to Chief of Security due to the current Chief's reassignment. It was then that Jira met her current partner, Symon Silvester. in 2380 the Aggamemnon was destroyed in battle and Jira was reassigned to the USS Vanguard as the Chief of Security where she continued to represent the department until she was forced to take medical leave after discovering she was pregnant.

Symon had been called to Earth for court martial and hadn't even said goodbye, feeling that he had abandoned her and didn't want her, Jira returned to Bajor quietly, without sending Symon word of her prengancy. She stayed with her mother, now a security liason between Bajor and Deep Space Nine, until she gave birth to Niri K'Marr. Two days after her birth, Niri experienced an unexplained rapid system failure and died in Jira's arms. Jira spent the next six months on Bajor mourning the loss of her child and recovering from birth when the opportunity for her to reunite with Symon came to her from a contact in Star-fleet. This modivated her to recover.

Jira then was declared fit for duty and reassigned to OedV where she was reunited with Symon and serves as the Chief of Security. While stationed on OedV she again became pregnant and gave birth to her and Symon's second child, Trajan.

Medical History

Jira sustained a serious injury during the destruction of the Agamemnon where a bulkhead caved in, trapping her underneath where she sustained multiple internal injuries. She underwent 4 hours of surgery and fully recovered.

Jira gave birth to Niri in 2381, the birth was uneventful with no physical trauma to Jira. After Niri's death Jira underwent psychological evaluation and therapy for several months, until her reactivation.

Jira successfully delivered her second child.

Psychological Evaluation

Jira is an intensely private person, she doesn't make friends easily and she is sensative to her appearance and it's affects on those around her, almost to a paranoid state. Jira has a temper and sometimes can have a short fuse, which Jira is aware of and dislikes the quality in herself. She seems to have a distaste for anything that may be identified as "Klingon" about her. Jira has lingering issues over her father's abandonment of her, which affects her relationship with others. Jira has difficulty relating to her mother due to her inability to understand her. Jira is difficult to get close to, but for those who have become her friends, they are regarded by her to be absolutely trustworthy.

Jira prides herself on her ability to be self-sufficient, calmly calculating and strong in desperate times while on duty. Jira finds it difficult to disucuss her deseased child and often will change the subject when this subject is brought up. Jira feels imense guilt over not telling Symon about their child while she was pregnant and thus robbing him of ever being able to have seen her. Because of this she is subject to bouts of depression and saddness where to compensate, Jira is given over to over-working herself to keep herself occupied. Though she is fit for duty, it is recommended that Jira continue regular phsycological treatment for her emotional trauma.
