Discord Outage

Discord is currently experiencing a major system wide outage, which is affecting all of its users across the globe, including our own Discord server. Despite the misleading term "our Discord server", there is no actual computer that TECH can restart to make the problem go away. The issue must be resolved by Discord's engineers, who are already aware of the problem and are working on it.

More infomation about Discord's status can always be found here: https://status.discordapp.com

TECH Opening

Hello Everyone,

There is presently an opening on the TECH Board. We will be accepting applications from today until next Tuesday morning. If you're interested, please e-mail tech @ star-fleet.com with your name, a bit about yourself, your technical background and skills, and any relevant experience. If anyone has questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. While not required, any familiarity with Python or Django would be very useful.

Thanks,

Joe

Webchat Technical Difficulties

Just FYI, the Webchat IRC client located at http://www.star-fleet.com/id/irc/ is not functioning properly at this time. It is provided by Sorcery.net, the provider of our IRC channel, thus TECH is unable to fix the problem directly. However, we have notified them of the problem and they are currently investigating it.

In the mean time, the channel is still accessible through the use of a dedicated IRC client on your desktop or mobile device, with the following information:

Server: irc.sorcery.net
Channel: #star-fleet

Maintenance Complete

The scheduled server maintenance is now complete. Everything should behave exactly as it did before. Thank you for your patience.

Planned Server Maintenance Saturday @ 10 PM EST

This is a reminder that TECH will be taking the server down to perform some necessary system upgrades on Saturday, December 12, at 10 PM Eastern Standard Time. The site may be down for several hours during the upgrade process. Please plan accordingly.

SBCGlobal Mail Issue

For the last week, the Personnel Department has been getting a high volume of bounce backs from users with SBCGlobal e-mail addresses (there aren't very many of you). SBCGlobal is handled through AT&T/Yahoo, and they have blocked one of our IPs - so we can't effectively send mail to users with SBCGlobal addresses at the current time. I suggest those users who do use SBCGlobal addresses sign up for a GMail account and switch their STF profile to send to it instead, as there is no guarantee that AT&T will unblock our IP.

Thanks everyone,

-Thomas Bates
